BL challenge ~ BLUE TEAM ~ week 3

Hi Blue Team!

I had a busy weekend with my daughters birthday party. It went really well and I did pretty good with food the day of the party but on Sunday everything changed. I had been wrestling with the notion of cancelling my December trip to WDW. After a big layoff on Friday and the news that more were coming I decided that I better hang on to the money for now. I am so bummed :sad1: but I know that I am making the right decision. My depression led to eating some things that definitely weren't in the plan. I will have to work all week to break even. I had a good day today and I'm hoping for 3 more before weigh in.

Princess Vija: Congratulations!!!!! How Awesome!!

Hypermommy: Love the scrapbook page. I've never done digiscrapping only the old fashioned way. It sounds like a lot of fun.

QOTD: I looked in the mirror and didn't like what I saw at all. I made the decision then that I was going to do something about it. I found this wonderful board and I couldn't be happier. Everyone here is great! Thanks to all of you for being so supportive.

Hmmm... I posted earlier this evening, but <poof> it vanished somehow. I wonder what I did. :wizard:

Just wanted to send big congrats to Princess Vija. Your blue team has known all along what a champion you are, so I'm glad you have a trophy to prove it to the rest of the world! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hypermommy, I find it much easier to count points than calories. It just seems more manageable to count "20 points" per day versus "1600 calories." Plus, my feeble middle aged mind finds it much easier to remember the smaller numbers... :rotfl:

June
(and can I get a woo hoo for the countdown in my signature....eeeek! I'm almost there!!!!!) :woohoo:

Another OP day down, YEAH. I'm so happy - I can't wait till I've actually lost a few pounds and feel in that zone. One day at a time!!

cjackpearl: We all have times like that. The important thing is to not let one day become tow, or three , or a whole week or month. Get back on track as soon as you can.:cheer2:

Lea:  It's hard making a decision like that. Good luck to you and your family. Hopefully Disney will be in the cards next year.

Things have been giong well for me today. I'm very proud,I haven't had a single snack. This week I am forgoing my bedtime snack to see what my blood sugar does. My high morning readings are either due to the Dawn Phenomenon or Somogyi Effect (I think.) The Dawn Phenomenon is a series of hormonal changes that your body goes through to perpare for the day. your body releases hormones such as cortisol and stored sugar such as glycogen to give you energy. It can only be controlled with medication.

The Somogyi effect is when you experience low blood sugar during the night os your liver cranks out glycogen to counteract it. That is easier to fix, you simply have a bedtime snack so you don't dip down. I'm not going to hvae a snack this week, so if my sugars stay high it is Dawn Phenomenon and not Somogyi.

QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY: What was your defining moment that convinced you to make a healthy change?
For me I wanted to be able to run with my Daughter, play with her on Jungle gyms, able to do all that without having to stop to breathe or rest.

QOTD Tuesday: Which team on Biggest Loser do you want to win?

I am not sure right now... Course I need to see tonights episode, or DVR it and watch it later... I think they are all winners if they lose weight.

I am still on plan and doing great! Friday evening was the last time I put evil carbs in my face. It's amazing how much better I feel, and sleep when I take carbs away.
Just give me my Extra Virgin Coconut oil and I am good to go!

Menu for today...

BF- 1 cup Full fat Plain Yogurt
Lunch- Bunless burger loaded and side salad with ranch
Dinner- Pork chop/ green beans
No snacking!!!

Melanie-So glad to hear that your husband is home and hopefully everyone is readjusting. Don't ever feel ashamed to come here, we all have those ups and downs and understand where you're coming from. Chin up and keep moving forward. Congrats on your OP day, see you are already back into the swing of things.

baby1disney - I'll invest in on of those scales too if you find another :lmao: .

QOTD Tuesday: Which team on Biggest Loser do you want to win?

I haven't been able to watch the episodes yet...have them DVR'd just haven't had a chance to sit down to watch, does anybody know if they put them in like a podcast like the do some soaps? So with that said, I can't answer that question except that I did see the 1st hour on the internet when they put it up and my heart really went out to that father that was in such bad health.

Have a great healthy day everyone!!

Congratulations Princess Vija - Grand Champion - WOO HOO:cheer2:

 Melanie - it's great that your DH is home! I wouldn't worry to much...what's done is done...you'll do great from now on:goodvibes

 Hypermommy - when I first started I liked using a website that counted my calories...fat...protein etc...it was simple all I did was enter in everything I ate for about a month until i got use to what I could eat in a day...now I have a good idea what to eat. Pm me and I can email you some more info if you like.;) I bet you'll look great in a bathing suit by time you go on your cruise:cheer2: And thankyou so much for the encouragement after my bad food day on Saturday:goodvibes

 Eeyores Butterfly - You can do it! You will do it!:cheer2: :cheer2: I loved the pictures! I would never be able to bungie jump:scared1:.

 wwwosie - that's a horrible thing your friend did:mad: but you can do this without her or anyone else! You really can:goodvibes The blue team is here whenever you need a

 Briarmom - I agree I know be healthy is important but be able to wear what ever I want without worrying how I looked would be great:thumbsup2

QOTD: I have no idea who I want to win...I always have trouble picking a favorite team on the biggest looser:confused3

I am little concerned about my weight loss this week...I haven't budged at all according to my wii fit today...I guess I better step it up if I want to loose anything this week.

I hope I didn't miss anyone...just trying to catch up quickly...have a great day Blue Team:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hypermommy--I find that points tracking is a lot faster than calorie tracking. Once you know how many points you're allowed per day, its easy. I actually have, um, 3 points trackers. Yes, I am a WW drop out. I no longer go to the meetings but I'm using the materials to keep track of points. Let me know if you'd like me to send you a points slider thing.

I would love to have some info on the points if you don't mind. Or if you can give me the points system, that would be great too!! :thumbsup2

baby1disney, I want one of those scales for sure!!!!!!!!! LOL

I know right?!?! Can you imagine just how much money I could make?!?!?! OMG!!!!!!

I'm going over to my MIL house today and I will know for sure just how much I weigh!! LOL!!! If it does it again, I swear I'm going to take it and run!! Put my name on the scale!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I disappeared for a while but now I'm back. I've been busy and havent had a chance to get on the computer much, so sorry about that. HOWEVER, I've managed to lose another 2 pounds!

I'll read back a few pages after I post this to find out how all of my teammates are doing :thumbsup2

Hey everyone,

You all are so motivating - Thanks for reminding me I shouldn't have felt ashamed.

Day 3 of being on track is going great. I have my lunch all ready to go. I plan on taking a walk at lunch today.

AMAZING accomplishment!!!

QOTD - I am turing 50 in 3 months and would like to be as FIT and HEALTHY as possible! I have been "playing" at getting healthy for the last year or so, but am now ready to make a concerted effort to get this extra weight off!

Thank you all for your inspiration...it is a great help!

QOTD: I am pulling for the yellow team (young girl with her older father - I can't remember their names!). But I think they may get kicked off this week...I have never missed an episode (I am ashamed to say) since this show started a few years ago!!

I am doing GREAT the past few days and have felt better. I am following WW points (online) and LOVE it but I still can't seem to get into a regular excercise routine...I walk once in awhile and then may get a "bug" to do an excercise tape but it is so inconsistent I don't think it is working. I only worked out once last week!! :rolleyes1

You guys are all awesome - I couldn't do it without you. :grouphug:

Hey, Blue Team!!! Come join the October Exercise Challenge!!!!

Hope you're all having a GREAT week!!

QOTD Monday- I was really depressed and took a mental health day from work last week. That is when I found you guyz! :thumbsup2 I also put together a spreadsheet to record my water and points daily. On that spreadsheet I put pictures of me from Disney trips 2001, 2005 and 2007. I looked like the blueberry girl in Willie Wonka blowing up more each trip. So far, it has been a great motivation to make the change before my Dec 2009 Disney 40th b-day land and sea trip. You folks are wonderful!

QOTD Tuesday- I was pulling for the Orange Team since they are from NC, but I'm not exactly fond of their attitude. I usually watch it evolve and pull for the team that worked hardest with a great attitude each week (it makes me feel like the extra effort always pays off- since it should ;) ).

My mom and hubby joined me, without me asking, on my healthy path and are helping to plan and prepare healthy meals. I feel very lucky to have all the support!

Hello all! I'm a little late to the game, but am the newest member of the blue team. I did one of the last couple of BL challenges, but then kind of lost control of things so stabilized the weight loss. I am very happy to report that I managed to maintain those whole four or so months so that was good. I will report my starting weight on Friday's weigh-in. We just got back from WDW on Sunday so I've got some free dining help, plus TOM adding to my number right now. Since Friday is weigh-in day, I figure I'll just start there.

Thanks for letting me join you all! Tonight will be my first chance to view the new season so I'm not sure what team I'm pulling for yet.

Welcome to the blue team! I hope you had a great trip :cheer2:

That free dining plan is the best thing ever while at Disney and the devil by then end of the trip- I feel you! :hippie:

QOTD: Right now I am pulling for the Yellow team. I really like their personalities and the daughter works really hard in all the competitions. She lasted longer than most of the teams competing in the challenge last week and she doing it by herself!

Thanks! We did have a great trip. The food was wonderful and I was really only up a couple of pounds, but also had TOM visit at the same time so I don't know what the real culprit was. On top of free dining my DH had to leave early so DD and I doubled up on a few meals using his credits. I guess we did share half of those too, though, so it wasn't too bad.

Let me know if you'd like me to send you a points slider thing.

I sent you a PM... I'm very excited! Thanks!!!

December trip to WDW. After a big layoff on Friday and the news that more were coming I decided that I better hang on to the money for now. I am so bummed :sad1: but I know that I am making the right decision.
...

Hypermommy: Love the scrapbook page. I've never done digiscrapping only the old fashioned way. It sounds like a lot of fun.

That is a bummer. Sorry to hear about your trip. But you know it's the smart thing to do. Being a responsible adult is sure a kick in the pants sometimes, ain't it? I wanna be Peter Pan!

Digiscrapping is a lot of fun and I love the speed scraps! If you're interested let me know and I'll give you some pointers to get started. The best part of all about digiscrapping is that clean up is as easy as hitting save / close program. LOL

(and can I get a woo hoo for the countdown in my signature....eeeek! I'm almost there!!!!!) :woohoo:

You have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring us back lots of pictures!!!

Another OP day down, YEAH.

What's an OP day?

QOTD Tuesday: Which team on Biggest Loser do you want to win?

I've only seen one ep so far (have to remember to set that series record on the DVR) but so far it's the Yellow Team. That girl just has sooooo much heart.

 Hypermommy - when I first started I liked using a website that counted my calories...fat...protein etc...it was simple all I did was enter in everything I ate for about a month until i got use to what I could eat in a day...now I have a good idea what to eat. I've been trying to use Sparkpeople but I find I just don't log on there as often as I should. Too many other boards to keep up with and such. But maybe I should just make a concerted effort to be better. And yes, I'm gonna be one hot momma on the cruise!!!! LOL No prob at all for Sat. That's what we're here for, right? Besides, we all have a bad day now and again.

Okay... today's been a wierd day for me. I stayed home to make sure that my homeschooled child (who takes classes over the internet) got caught up on the work he should have had done from like weeks and weeks ago. We got through most of it and then he just started feeling really poorly and coughing and such. He's not the type to feign illness so I believe he isn't feeling well. So I've been home all day and trying to get the VPN working right so I could gte something done at the office. That's been quite a challenge. But I'm really proud of myself becuase even with all the temptation around here I stayed on my eating plan except for one (yes, just one) peanut. So far so good ;-)
