QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY: What was your defining moment that convinced you to make a healthy change?

Vija: CONGRATULATIONS!

Here are some pictures from Saturday, the exceptionally tall guy is my boyfriend, Aaron.

2 years ago I lost a bunch of weight by walking and having an amicable separation from Ben and Jerry, who I used to hang out with every night.
Then my walking buddy and BFF decided she didn't want to walk with me anymore or be part of my life (and to this day she won't tell my why, she just keeps saying "it's nothing to do with you"...). I lost my motivation to do anything after that... and slowly the weight has crept up...
But when I tried to put on a pair of pants that used to be loose BEFORE the weight loss 2 years ago and I couldn't button them, I said THAT'S IT!
My husband is an awesome guy, but he loves to eat and he loves to bake. Healthy stuff is just not for him on a regular basis... like twice this week he baked cookies and today an awesome coffee cake.
Neither of my kiddos have weight issues at all so it's kinda hard to do things by myself.
And I know this is really silly but I can't bring myself to find a different "walking buddy" because I'm afraid of getting close and getting burned again. The worst part is that my former walking buddy HAS managed to keep the weight off...
So...hopefully this is the beginning of a wonderful road with my cyber BLUE TEAM mates!

QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY: What was your defining moment that convinced you to make a healthy change?

I didn't really have one defining moment, it has just been a general dissatisfaction with my weight and how I look. I have been struggling for years to stay committed to losing the weight. Hopefully this time around I will stick with it.

Hi Guys,

Well I did not do too well over the weekend but it is monday morning again and things are going to change.

I am getting back to healthy eating today, need to go shopping but will get by until then.

Congrats Princess on your trophy, what an acheivement you should feel mega proud.

RE QOTD I have not really got a defining moment keeping up with a weight loss plan is a constant battle for me.

QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY: What was your defining moment that convinced you to make a healthy change?

I hate how I look. Truthfully, I could give 2 craps about my health. I know, I know but it's true. I just want to look good in a swimsuit.

OK, I signed up for Weight Watchers online just now. I want to be able to post my before and afters like the other hot Blue team members!!

shewelch - great comment from your child!!!! I know you felt on cloud 9!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:  :cheer2:

Eeyores Butterfly - great pictures! I still can't believe you strapped that bungie cord to your butt and did that freefall thing. (I know it's a cable but it LOOKS like a rubber band from where I'm standing). That must have been quite a rush!! :scared1:

wwwosie - what a rotten thing for your "friend" to do. At the very least she should tell you what's up. Oh well... you're better off without her. And Team Blue is here for YOU!!! :grouphug:

Briarmom - I'm with you... health is secondary to me. I wanna be that mom that my kids' friends look at and say "dude, your mom is HOT!" :cool1: :cool1:

Question for anyone that's done calorie counting and weight watchers points -- which do you find easier/most useful and why?

QOTD: My defining moment was when I stepped on the scale and realized it was close to 300 lbs. That's 2x as much as I should weigh!!! There's 2 of me in this body and one of us has to go!!!!!!

Not much time to get on this weekend but just got caught up. We did go out for FIL's birthday last night but I stuck with a salad, went light on the dressing and heavy on the veggies and had one bite of the cake and let DH have the rest.

I'm still in "before" mode and am allergic to cameras. :rolleyes1

June

Loved that comment...I'm going to have to use that in the future when someone wants to take a picture:thumbsup2 .

WTG Princess VIJA on your trophy and thanks for sharing your story. You deserve to be proud for all your hard work!!

QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY: What was your defining moment that convinced you to make a healthy change?

I had lost a good amount of weight several years ago and felt so good, over time it has gradually slipped back on. I'm ready to feel better and get back into my Disney shirts that are like new that I can't fit into right now.

Sending good wishes to everyone for a great focused day!!:goodvibes

Hey everyone!

So hubby has been home for a week now - YEAH! And I did so well the week before he got home. I guess I thought I was in celebration mode the entire week last week and I fell off the wagon.

I had a good day yesterday, complete on program and today is all planned out and should be great.

Because of my "shame" I didn't come on here all week and I didn't submit my weight last week. Well I'm off to own up to what I gained last week and I'm hopefully I'll at least be back to where I was.

Question of the Day:

When nothing fits in my closet. I have all these clothes from when I lost weight before and I feel like I'm wearing the same thing over and over. I had to go buy 3 new pairs of jeans last weekend in a larger size. That was not a good feeling and it has to stop.

Something I just realized. One bad week means you have two weeks of no progress if you just catch up to the week before you were bad. That really stinks. Two weeks wasted, but................I'm on track now.

Ok...first of all...you wonderful women have made me cry!!! THANK YOU for being so supportive!! I think that I might be able to do this!!!:cool1:

Ok...so I have a few questions since I'm new to all of this!!:rotfl:

What do you mean by counting points? Is this a Weight Watchers thing?

I had some more questions, but I'm drawing a complete blank right now!!:lmao: :lmao:

Also, I was wondering..how long does this challenge go on for?? And do we get together afterwards to see how we all did?!?:confused3 I think we should plan a Disney vacation for us...AND since 2009 is the year of Celebrations, wouldn't that be even more special?!?!?:cool1: :yay: :grouphug:

Ok, so this weekend was just bad for me. I ate alot of junk/fast food and just felt like crap. I went to the store yesterday and I bought some salmon and tuna(I think) along with lots of lettuce and rice and stuff like that. So, I'm going to try and see how this works out!!!:woohoo:

So, ok I like to talk and sorry for the long post!! But, I'm quite serious about the gather after we lose our weight...I think it would be sooo much fun...just a week of a ladies thing!!! What do you guys think?!?

QOTD: My defining moment was when I was trying on wedding dresses and I couldn't fit half of them!! Also, the fact that I have a very active 6yr old son and I get tired really easily and he doesn't understand why. Plus, I'm just sick of looking the way I do:eek:

QOTD: I have been doing Weight Watchers for quite awhile, but have not really been following the program. The first wake up call came when I was in danger of losing one of my parade roles due to my size. I was able to lose some weight, but I gained it back and then some when I came back to Missouri. The biggest issue was the suddne change in acitvity level. If I was doing parades, I would typically do 3 a day, if I was in the show, it was 5 shows a day. I was able to lose the weight without closely following the program. I hope to eventually return to Disney to perform part time, and I know that where I am now I won't be able to do it.

I was still not following the program closely, but I got my rear in gear when I found out I have prediabetes at only 23 years old. The doctor said "when you get diagnosed with diabetes", and I am determined to prevent it or at least hold it off as long as I can. I have a three month follow up in December, and I want to be down at least 10 lbs.

Congratulations Princess Vija - Grand Champion - YOU ROCK!

Melanie - so glad for you that DH is home. And try not to get down on yourself about what's in the past becuase you can't change that. You start from today. That's all we can ever do is change this moment. So just concentrate on this moment in time and all will be fine.

baby1disney - while I'd love to get together, I think DH will put the kibosh on that one since he's trying to make payments on our November 2009 cruise. Good for you for buying all that healthy stuff at the store!!! That's what you need to do. And yes, points is a WW thing. But since I can't pay for WW right now, I don't know too much about them more than the generic info that can be found by googling "weight watchers points". But I think it has to do with the calories in a food and the fiber and such. I saw a formula the other day but I'm not gonna work that out.

Eeyores Butterfly - you stick with it, girl!! You're waaaaaaayyyy too young to have to start worrying about health problems. Jump on here often and let us know how things are going. I'm worried about you now.

Ok...well if you find the your suitcase is a little heavier than usual, don't worry!! It's just me coming along for the cruise!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Thanks for the encouragement about the food!! I usually buy pretty good meals, just I usually eat all of it in one night. That's more my problem than anything. Plus, I don't eat right. I really don't eat breakfast like I should and lunches either. I usually only eat one meal a day and that's dinner!! And you know how that goes!!!:lmao: :lmao:

QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY: What was your defining moment that convinced you to make a healthy change?

For me it was the picture I posted this weekend...when I got those pictures back from our WDW trip in 2001 I was actually in shock how big I was...I know that sounds funny but it did it for me:confused3

I have been having a cray weekso far...super busy...I haven't had time to read all the post but I hope everyone is have a wonderful and successful week!:goodvibes:grouphug: Things should quiet down for me mid week so I'll catch up then

I really don't eat breakfast like I should and lunches either. I usually only eat one meal a day and that's dinner!! And you know how that goes!!!:lmao: :lmao:

I know what you mean there! I don't usually eat breakfast, but I'm trying to make myself so I can "behave" better.

Hey how do I get one of those team blue siggie?!?!? I would love to have one!!!!

So, here's my funny for the day:

I texted DH and asked him to ask his mom if I could borrow her scale so I could weigh myself. I usually do it at her house, but I had to work late today. So, he came home for lunch with the scale and I get on it and it says that I've lost 75lbs in one week!!!! I thought to myself "Really?!?!?":rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: I was dying!1 I said to my DH that this was the best damn scale in the world!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: So, he said he'd take it back to his mom's house and that for me to try it out tomorrow over there!!! OMG!!!!!! Could you imagine losing that much in a week?!?! I think we all would eat as much as we wanted when we wanted!!!  DH even got on and it said that he lost over 100lbs!!! He was like WOOHOO!!!! Omg!! I can't stop laughing!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well, hopefully you guys will read this and have a good laugh for the day!!;) :upsidedow

baby1disney, I want one of those scales for sure!!!!!!!!! LOL

Hi everyone!! It was a very busy weekend here so I didn't check in at all. I did pretty well with food on Saturday but NOT Sunday! My family was all gone for most of the day so I used the hours of 1-6 to get stuff done. I was running around like a crazy woman and didn't sit down once that whole time. I had a Lean Cuisine for lunch, but then after all that work I "deserved" pizza!! I definitely ate more than I needed!! I'm feeling pretty unmotivated right now, so I know I need to get my butt on here more to feel the love.

Princess Vija--CONGRATS!! That is so awesome that you faced your fear and kicked some butt.

Hypermommy--I find that points tracking is a lot faster than calorie tracking. Once you know how many points you're allowed per day, its easy. I actually have, um, 3 points trackers. Yes, I am a WW drop out. I no longer go to the meetings but I'm using the materials to keep track of points. Let me know if you'd like me to send you a points slider thing.
