Bl 7.1 purple team!!!!!

Congrats to everyone who checked in. FTnPD, so sorry to hear about your son. Sometimes, Real Life does get in the weigh. ;) Having seen the results, I can say even the smallest of losses need to be reported! Stay the course everyone. Two days until weigh-in! Off to take DD15 to school. I hate these early morning rehearsals!

Sorry to have been absent for a few days. We took the kids away for a few days for school vacation. I brought along my laptop, but never bothered to use it!

QOTD for Tuesday:
What is your next mini-goal and how will you reward yourself in a non-food way?

Tough question. Originally my next mini-goal was going to be to lose 2 pounds this week, but I am QUICKLY realizing that this goal will be nearly impossible to reach during SCHOOL VACATION week!! Even just these past three days have been tough. Try as I might, I went significantly over my points every day so far!

I guess my mini-goal will be to continue to track ALL my food (even splurges) and exercise EVERY (remaining) DAY during school vacation. I did exercise last Sat and Sun, but I missed Monday. I did exercise 60 minutes yesterday and I haven't YET today. Guess I need to put down the laptop and pick up the sneakers!! I'm not sure how I am going to reward myself. Maybe spend a few $$ at the scrapping store.

I am going to go figure out my COW points for last week that I forgot to PM to Donac. Am I too late??.......................P

Thats easy A nice healthy Taco Salad with A Light serving of French Dressing. Yum Yum!

[/QUOTE]

Tacos - with soft corn tortiallas and 96% lean beef or turkey. Sometimes I toss a small can of black or pinto beans beans in with the meat and seasoning (Cumin, chili powder, garlic) for extra fiber and filling. Easy way to load up on veggies and salsa and a little cheese goes along way

Thanks for the responses, one day I'll have to try a taco salad. I don't like guacamole or sour cream so I've stayed away from those. I also need to try adding more veggies to tacos. I've added peas and corn and enjoyed that, so now its time to experiment a bit more.

Lately my favourite healthy meal has been red snapper (or other whitefish) made with special K/spices/orange juice coating and served with steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower or asparagus) and brown rice.

I can not believe I even made the list last week! I seem to be hanging out in what feels like a plateau. The thing I hate about plateaus is that there doesn't seem to be consensus on what to do when you are in one. Do you stay the course? Shake things up? Eat more? Eat less? There is no definitive answer, it seems.

QOTD: I like whole grain thin spaghetti with spicy tomato sauce, a little shredded 2% cheese, some cooked frozen broccoli and if I'm living it up, maybe a boca burger. My kids like the pasta and it's a nice, filling meal for which I always have ingredients on hand.

QOTD Thursday:
What do you do to fight a craving to snack in the evening?

Corinnak - Its too bad there isn't an easy answer on what to do in a plateau, but those small losses still add up over time!

Wed QOTD:
What's your favourite quick easy healthy supper?

Well, since I HATE to cook, I would say "take out"! But that usually doesn't fall in the "healthy" category. I make a lot of things with brown rice (stir fry, casseroles), but since the rice takes 45 minutes to cook, I'm not sure that it falls into the "quick" category. But sometimes I will make a double batch of rice one day and warm it up for the next day.

Eggs are a usual standby for us. Scrambled eggs and toast with fruit or applesauce is a quick, easy dinner for us, especially on a busy night when we have sports or other activities that take us out of the house for a long time.

QOTD Thursday:
What do you do to fight a craving to snack in the evening?

Well.... I don't usually fight it. I almost always plan my points to allow me to have a snack in the evening. If I have the "munchies" and I am looking to randomly snack, I try to take myself away from the kitchen. I head up to my bedroom and fold laundry, scrap, check the DIS, read, watch tv, or even hit the treadmill. If I am DESPERATE to chew something, I grab a handful of baby carrots. If I STILL want something, then I grab ANOTHER handful of baby carrots. Usually by then the feeling has passed. If it hasn't I will try to find something low points.... like mini rice cakes.... the cheddar cheese kind and ranch kind work well for salty cravings. The chocolate mint work well for sweet cravings.

I can't imagine what the scales will look like tomorrow. I have had a REALLY tough week with the eating. Try as I might, I went over my points almost every day. Yesterday was the worst. I just could NOT resist eating at the movies (we saw the Disney Earth movie and 17 again). I had 6 points worth of peanut butter M&Ms, some popcorn, and a few Twizzlers. Not a total blow out, but more points than I needed.

Even earlier in the week, when I packed healthy foods for myself for lunch and snacks, the dinners out usually pushed me over my points.... even without dessert!

Sunday we had a family b.day party and DD's swim banquet. Monday and Tuesday we were in Boston doing tourist things and ate dinner out both nights. And yesterday, as I mentioned, we went to the movies, which for my family equals.... FOOD!

On a good note, I have exercised 5 of the last 6 days, in addition to all of the walking we did in Boston on Mon/Tues. So at least I haven't slacked off completely.

We are going away again tonight and the plan is take-out pizza while watching Survivor in the hotel room. I am planning to make a nice salad to take along to eat when the others have pizza. I will indulge in ONE slice of the pizza only! Maybe if I put it in writing, I will be more apt to stick with my plan!

Anyhow, I won't be here to weigh in tomorrow. Unless I take along my scale and my laptop.... Maybe I will!! Anyhow, if you don't hear from me tomorrow, that means I didn't take these things along and I will see you Saturday................P

Shannon - I'm afraid I won't even have a small loss this week. However, anything is better than giving up, so I just have to keep plugging away at it.

Pamela - I love brown rice. Have you tried the Uncle Ben's "Fast and Natural" instant brown rice? It's good, time-wise - ready in 10 minutes. Pricier and not quite as chewy as regular, though. Good luck with the rest of your busy week!

QOTD Thursday:
What do you do to fight a craving to snack in the evening?

I also usually try to save a little for the evening. Favorites include a Pria 110 bar-mint chocolate, split a bag of 94% FF Microwave popcorn with DH, apple with or without 1/2 T peanut butter, Puffins Cereal with 1/2 c milk, southwest egg beater in 1/2 whole wheat pita.

I've got a 10K on Sunday and will be staying with a friend over the weekend as well. I don't have any idea what I will be eating. Her daughter is allergic to tree nuts, so I have to be careful if I bring my own snacks at all. Hard to plan ahead for it, but I'm just going to do my best to eat sanely.

Just have a Big bowl of purple Grapes and water to wash it down. by then I will be to full too snack.:thumbsup2

Monday QOTD: A fun one! What is the origin of your screen name!
Easy. It's my name, and since I've been here since the beginning, at the time I didn't know that I was to have an alias.

QOTD for Tuesday:
What is your next mini-goal and how will you reward yourself in a non-food way?
I'd love to actually lose a WHOLE pound, rather than 0.2, 0.4 etc. When I do, I shall pat myself on the back (and probably actually do some exercise)

Wed QOTD:
What's your favourite quick easy healthy supper?
Hmmm. Cereal? Popcorn? Fish and (baked) fries? :confused3

QOTD Thursday:
What do you do to fight a craving to snack in the evening?
I save enough room in the 'calorie count' to have air-popped popcorn.

Caught up!
:yay: LAST CHANCE WORKOUT, PEOPLE! :yay:
See you tomorrow! (or Saturday if I sleep in!)

It's nice to read all of your ideas for handling the evening munchies. I must buy some more of the mini carrots, and this weekend, chop up some more raw veggies. I need better last week, when I had little bags of cauliflower ready to munch on.

Congrats to Debbie for her success in the COW!:cool1:

Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow!

Here's Friday's QOTD:
If you were on Biggest Loser, would you want Jillian or Bob for your coach?
Which one do you think would motivate you better?
If you don't watch Biggest Loser, what is your motivation to eat healthier and/or exercise?

I've been terrible about answering the QOTD's, so here goes:

If I was on the BL, I'd want Jillian for my trainer. I'd want to look at Bob, but I'm afraid of Jillian! I need her tough love.

My screen name is after my cat, Worf. We call him "Worfiedoodles" as a nickname. Yes, I am a Star Trek fan.

My next mini goal is to lose anything. Yep, anything. I have steadily gained for the last few weeks. I will reward myself with a cute top I bought but have not worn yet -- which actually does fit me now, not in 5 or 10 lbs.

My favorite quick, easy supper is a McDonald's salad -- oh, wait, you mean something that didn't get me looking this way :rotfl: That would be shrimp and tortellini with steamed veggies.

I actually don't do much to fight a craving in the evening, I usually give in to it. Again, we're getting to the heart of my problem. When I am successful, I usually tell myself I am done eating and do not enter the kitchen. That seems to work.

I apologize in advance because it's going to be another bad weigh-in week. I have not been able to get my head in the right place. I've run sixteen miles this week, and I'm still going to have a gain (probably because I ate way too much and should have had 24 miles...). It was a school vacation week for us, which means all my routines were off and I was home more. Plus trips to the movies, restaurants, etc. -- all not conducive to weight loss. I am recommiting that I am going to lose next Friday. It probably won't be much, but I am going to do my best to post a loss.

Thanks for listening.

Maria :upsidedow

Well, Hoo ha, I had a bona fide loss this week! Must have just been "saving up" or something.

Maria, hang in there - sometimes stuff happens. You are sounding kind of depressed and defeated, but I KNOW you can do it. It is a new week and you know what? You ran more than I did last week. For me, it is never about the running...running doesn't make me lose. It's all about the food. (((HUGS))) Stay strong, Maria! Next week will be better, I can feel it.

Here's Friday's QOTD:
If you were on Biggest Loser, would you want Jillian or Bob for your coach?
Which one do you think would motivate you better?
If you don't watch Biggest Loser, what is your motivation to eat healthier and/or exercise?

OK, Bob is handsome, but Jillian gets to the root of the matter in a way Bob does not. She gets results you can't argue with without inspiring a whole culty mind-wipe thing. Bob seems to always have the "players" (Vicki and now ugh What's his name - you know.) and Jill ha the "losers" and I know which I would want to be!

And with that, I'm off! Talk to y'all soon!

ok folks It's the weekend . And tomorrow will be a beautiful day. Sunny and 82 degrees tomorrow in Columbus Ohio. I will be walking at the park in effort to lose weight for the summer. I will be in on wendsday morning to give you results of the weekly weigh-in for week 9. Have a great weekend all :thumbsup2:goodvibes

Maria - :grouphug: I'm happy to hear you are hanging in and still reporting even while struggling. You can do this! Today starts a new week, and going back to routine will make it easier. Thanks for sharing as I learned something from your posts. I will try the "not walking into the kitchen" technique. I've also tried brushing my teeth when my kids go to bed, as snacking doesn't sound as good when I've got the just brushed taste in my mouth :goodvibes

Corrina - Its great to hear that you surprised yourself and got a loss that you weren't expecting :goodvibes

SpaceMtnFan - enjoy your walks in the sunshine this weekend. I hope we get some sunshine up here, and I can get the spring raking done.

I'm happy to report that I got a loss this week, even though I did not eat the greatest. Joining WW has really helped me and when I'm bad, I'm not as bad as I used to be. Yesterday was the end of the month of no McDonalds, and I had to use a vacation day to stay home with both kids and their bad chest colds. After taking them to the doctor (who confirmed its just bad colds, and no antibiotics needed), we went through the McDonalds drivethrough. The girls wanted milkshakes and I had some nuggets and fries and they tasted good, but I got smaller size than I used to, and realized that it filled me up. So it tasted good, and I limited myself, which is a small success. However, I weighed myself yesterday and today and gained 0.7lbs over 1 day, which could be nothing, but does make me realize that I don't need McD all the time or I'll put everything I've lost back on.

Friday's QOTD:
If you were on Biggest Loser, would you want Jillian or Bob for your coach?
Which one do you think would motivate you better?
If you don't watch Biggest Loser, what is your motivation to eat healthier and/or exercise?

I realize I forgot to answer the QOTD, so here's my answer.
A few weeks ago, I would have picked Bob because he seems calmer/nicer/easier to work with; but after watching the last couple episodes, I think I'd prefer Jillian. She seems to deal with the underlying issues and help people change their attitudes. I think she'd drive me crazy, but that would motivate me to work harder. For an intense regime like they do on the show, I think her drill sergeant style would get me going.

I'm down 2 pounds this week (after a gain of 3.6 last week) so I feel better. Who knew that such little amounts had such power over my mood and outlook etc. (Well, I did as I've been at this for a while) but I was happy with the outcome.

QOTD - I don't really watch BL anymore. I couldn't stand Jillians in your face and the constant replays of people's puking and moments of absolute shame. I guess I feel that I live with that personal disgust with myself everyday and I don't need to see it on TV. Thats just my 2 cents worth. I can see that for many (majority) the show is an eye opener and a motivator - which I honestly wish it did for me.

What is motivating me right now if that I'm turning 40 in a month and I don't want to suffer the health problems and early deaths that most members of my extended family have because of their weight. I would also like to be a positive influence on my daughters lives so that they don't end up in this pattern of self-loathing behavior which leads to a roller coaster of weight gain and loss.

Its beautiful this weekend and I'm to go to a women's sailing clinic week this weekend (well, starting to learn anyway). I'll be back next weekend so have a great week everyone. Breathe deeply. Enjoy.
