Birthday at the Pop- PreTrippy

Hahaha....Rosie, I've made four posts on your PTR!! Check out posts #73, #77, #81, and #100. :rotfl2: I'm deeply hurt that you don't remember my profound posts!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :goodvibes :rotfl:

I didn't know you had a May 09 thread! Where is it?

Have a great day!

Alan

It's Dementia !!:lmao: I found out I was wrong about the PTR !! The May 09 one is also on the PTR board . I started a list of May people , there is also a May code threadthat I'm sure is on the Codes board !! In feb I got a code for upgrade of Park tickets! So this time I only booked basic in hopes I'll get an upgrade and get ahopper plus for free!!

I hope you get your DH to wear one! (I left you comments bolded above, but it's not looking right on my computer so I didn't want you to pass them up!)
Irky thanks for the input. So far I decided I like the Timon one best. I made it into a tshirt for Aaron already so no going back lol. I still am not sure which one I want to make for me. I am also still uncertain about whether we should wear costumes to MTOTP.

LOL you guys are too funny. Did you find the May 09 thread Alan? Rosie will let you hear all about it if you do not! :rotfl2:

Rosie you always make my day when I read your comments. You are possibly the funniest person on the DIS boards!
Good luck on getting upgrades. I am hoping for some myself but I got the AAA rate already so that is probably all the pixie dust I will get.

So a few weeks back I listed some preliminary dining ideas. Just to remind everyone, we will be on the deluxe dining plan. I do not eat seafood other than the occassional shrimp and I do not like most cheese. I do however like to try new things and I am not afraid to eat anything once. Aaron will eat practically anything except artichokes and okra. Once in Japan (the real one not World Showcase ) he ate a 7 course meal that included a whole fish head  . Josh one day likes most everything and the next only eats chicken tenders and mac and cheese so we never know what mood he will be in.
So all that being said here are the places that I am thinking of right now. I would love input from anyone who has been there.
Breakfasts:
Boma- definite
Grand Floridian- definite
Chef Mickey's, Akershus and Ohana- need to pick 2 out of the 3
Any thoughts?

So my lunch plans are:
Mama Melrose- any other suggestions for DHS? We have done sci fi and 50s
Whispering Canyon Cafe- this place seems fun and Aaron wants to try the skillet. I have heard to ask for a straw and to not ask ofr ketchup, anyone know what that is about?
Coral Reef-definite
Crystal Palace-definite

So day one I am thinking Narcoossees. I have heard really great things about this place and know they have some nonseafood so I am ok there. We are planning on doing MK that afternoon so I thought this would be a good idea. It will be Easter night. What do you guys think?
other dinners:
Yachtman's steakhouse- definite
Cape May Buffet- definite
Kona- almost positive
Either Ohana or Spirit of Aloha- I need anyone who has been to either of these to give me feedback. The SOA sounds cool but that means either chopping off something else or paying oop for something else.

So, thoughts? My ADR lists have changed like 20 times now so I would love hearing from some of you guys who have been to these places since I picked all places we have not been to before.

Haven't been to WCC but I know there is a list on AllEars menus about what to ask for and not ask for ! Another I remeber is to ask where you can buy gum !! This is supposed to start Tom Foolery with the CMs !! I hace Narcosses on my list for May . I want the Lobster !!!!!

I have not been to the Whispering Canyon Cafe but it does look fun! As for the whole ketchup thing, I seem to remember seeing on one of the Travel Channel shows (I think it was the WL Great Hotels episode) that if you ask for ketchup they bring you basically every bottle in the whole restaurant. :rotfl:

ETA: OK, I found a video on youtube of the ketchup. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTn28CC7Eyc&NR=1 And after watching some of the other videos, we have got to eat there. I was cracking up! LOL.

Mmm, Mama Melrose's was good. :thumbsup2

Hi Michelle! I thought I would toss in my opinions.

Boma breakfast is terrific! They've got all of the traditional breakfast buffet items along with some bolder choices as well. The juice is incredible!

We have not been to Akershus, but I would definitely go with Chef Mickey's and Ohana. We did Ohana for breakfast on our last trip and loved it. The pineapple bread was most memorable. I wish I had a basket right now!

I think we are going to try Brown Derby this year for lunch at DHS. I know it is two table service credits, but we will do a one table service for dinner that evening. We thought about doing Mama Melrose, but we are eating at Tony's and maybe Tutto, so I don't want to schedule three Italian meals. We enjoyed 50s and would consider going back.

Whispering Canyon sounds fun! I've never eaten at Coral Reef or Crystal Palace. Coral Reef's menu looks great, but I'm still tryin to trek around the World Showcase while at Epcot.

Narcoossee's - you KNOW we loved it, but we are definitely seafood people. They do have a great steak, and the atmosphere is terrific. I think that would be a nice Easter dinner.
Yachtsman is fantastic. I only wish we would have scheduled it for early in our trip....by the time we got to our Yachtsman ADR, we had been eating for nearly a week on the Deluxe Dining Plan, and we were starting to slow down a bit on eating. It is GREAT, though.

Kona, in my opinion, was the best one table service credit we had all week, with the exception of LeCellier. We will definitely be doing both again on our next trip.

We want to do Ohana for dinner. As for Spirit of Aloha, keep this in mind: (1) it is outdoors, and the weather can be quite unpredictable in April, (2) if it rains, the show's cancelled, (3) the food supposedly is not that great, and (4) it costs two table service credits AND you must pick up your tickets when you check in, meaning you cannot get out of your reservations once you've picked up the tickets. I vote for Ohana.

That's my two cents worth!

Yes I saw that list. It looks like a lot of fun and I am sure I can trick Aaron or Josh into a few of the trigger things so I can not wait! Aaron can not wait to try Narcoosses either. He definitly has that Lobster on his mind as well!

Those Whispering Canyon Cafe videos on youtube are great! I hope you convince your ds and dd to go there and can get ADRs. I am looking forward to Mama Melrose. I think we are going for dinner and we will get the Fantasmic package so I just have to wait and see what dates they will have Fantasmic that week.

Thanks for all that great input Alan! Your Boma review along with MickeyNicky's is the reason I HAVE to go there! Aaron and I will be celebrating our anniversary on the 14th so I have decided that the guys will have to suck it up and I am going to try to get Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast that day. They did not know about Akershus and if they miss Ohana we will just have to try it next time. We will at least get some of their yummy bread at dinner I think so that will have to do.
We liked your Narcoossees review last year so Aaron is looking forward to that one most of all.
I thought about Brown Derby but really it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason. :confused3 Maybe your review of it from this year will change all that!
We wanted to do Kona for dinner but just ran out of days so we are doing it for breakfast so I will let you know how that is!

Hi Michele!!
Hi Rosie! Sorry I missed a few days. I was insanely busy this weekend but now I am all caught up and will try not to get behind again. If I do, please feel free to set me straight ok!

Ok for real this time, I booked our spring trip!:cool1:
Yay!
I changed the dates just a little to April 12-17. I wonder if they will let me in free on Irky's birthday if I tell them that it is her birthday. :lmao:
So anyway we had originally told her the Coronado Springs Resort (Team Renfroe had such good times there last year!) but before I even hung up the phone I had changed my mind and it was back to Pop. :rotfl:
I did not put the park hoppers on yet but I will probably add that or else the water parks (or both!) before we actually go and yes we got the deluxe dining for sure.
So now it official and I am so excited! I can't wait to get my package in the mail!:woohoo:
So here are the Phillips family doing our Disney dance! :dance3:

Good for you Michele !! The "Hi"as just to bump up the thread so it didn't get buried !! As fst as I write my PTR I start to second guess myself and start changing things . The trouble is I want to eat more places than I can fit in!!:rotfl2:

Oh, I know Rosie and I appreciate it! I was just teasing you earlier. I understand about constantly wanting to change your ADRs and wanting to eat more places that there is time for. I can hardly wait to see what you or I change next!:rotfl:

I have only ever eaten at Ohana for breakfast, but I love it! I would totally recommend it.

:lmao: about getting in free on my birthday! It's worth a try! Someone might as well make use of my birthday since I sure won't be able to this year! :rotfl:

I'm glad you made things official! :rotfl: You can start the official countdown now!

PS. Have you tested Lizzie out yet?

I'm back from work finally ,worked both jobs today and I am glad to be home and relax on the Dis !! I plan on trying Boma for breakfast in May,and Narcosses ,I'm with Aaron , LOBSTER !!! CP is a must do for me I love the food shrimp and mussels and I'm happy!!I also love the prime rib as it is usually rare and that's how I like it The place is so elegant and yet so family oriented and of course there's Pooh!! For me the Deluxe would be too much I think so I think I come out ahead with basic plus OOP. Alan has been very inspirational in many of the new restaurants I want to try for any who haven't read his TR yoy should he is avey talented writer !! and he posts pix !!

We were going to do Ohana at breakfast AND dinner but then we decided to do CRT instead. I have read mixed reviews about that place but I am super excited all the same. We will be celebrating our anniversary and the thought of eating in a castle is pretty romantic (even with 100 screaming kids and frantic parents!)
Plus, well I may be 29, but I still want to be a princess when I grow up.
Woohoo for official countdowns!! 6 months, 2 weeks and 5 days.... hmm how many days is that??:teacher: :confused3 lol
I have hung out with Lizzie a bit. I have some pics from her first night at home. She got a little rowdy but she is good at heart. I will post pics in a bit. Unfortunatly I fear she may just be too big to carry around the world. I guess I will make that decision when the time is sooner.

Boo for working 2 jobs in one day but hooray for relaxing on the Dis!
I hope you love Boma.... I hope I love Boma too :rotfl: I am sure we both will though after reading the reviews and seeing the pics of Alan, Mickey Nicki and Pooh's Honeypot's meals there.
Now Narcoossee's is a whole other thing. Aaron is WAY excited about that place and the steak looks good so I will be just fine. I have never been to Crystal Palace but we are doing lunch there so I will let you know my thoughts after our trip. I mainly want to go there for the characters because I am not that thrilled with buffets but it is good to know that the prime rib is rareish because that is how we like it. I actually tease Aaron about the cow crying on his plate but truth be told I am not that far behind him in my doneness choices. I feel you about not being sure about the deluxe plan but we really want to try so many places we are just going to go for it. It will be good to not really worry about not liking something then being hungry because even if I do not like one part of the meal there are 3 courses in each one so there is no way we can ever go hungry. Plus being on the deluxe allows us to eat at more signature places that require 2 ts credits.
As for Alan's trip report I absolutly agree with you Rosie. Now don't go all getting a big head Alan but yep your report is fabulous!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
As if I (and dozens of others) haven't told you that a million times already.
Rosie speaking of good reports you should check out Irky and WDWGirl here. They both have active reports right now and are filled with great pics and lots of humor. The links are in their siggys.
OK well it is getting late so it is time to get this show on the road. I just need to finish uploading pics and the next installment will be right up.

So last Wednesday when I got home Lizzie was here and waiting on me! I was so excited to finally meet her. She came in and I gave her the tour. First she was a little hungry from her journey so we had a healthy snack...
grandcanyon015.jpg

Afer that Lizzie went out back to hang out on the screen porch with Charlotte...
grandcanyon011.jpg

Next Lizzie took a little nap with her new brother Leo...
grandcanyon009.jpg

While Lizzie was resting I made us some dinner so then she had a big plate of mushroom brown rice and mini meatballs...
grandcanyon014.jpg

And of course with dinner I neede a drink so Lizzie helped me make it...
grandcanyon013.jpg

After dinner and the dishes were done Lizzie and I logged in and saw the Dis for the very first time...
grandcanyon007.jpg

Lizzie got so excited with the great Disney stuff we were looking at she jumped up and started swinging on the chandilier...
grandcanyon012.jpg

Well Lizzie and I were both very tired after such a long and adventure filled day so we hung out on the couch for a while and watched tv then went to bed...
grandcanyon020.jpg

I am finally getting somewhere with my window decoration ideas. I had already decided on a Pirate pirate: and Princessprincess: theme but so far only had the princess clings. Well I went to Tuesday Morning the other day and bought some great new luggage which I did not think to take pics of so I will do that later and give the back story on the need for new luggage.
Anyway while there I just happened to see some ladies with dollar tree bags. Now have I mentioned that I hate the location of the only dollar tree I can find in town?:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
So it seemed weird that they had bags from there but were walking around Tuesday Morning but I shrugged it off. So after my purchase I was leaving the parking lot and turned to the back of the shopping center and BAM there it is, a brand new dollar general! I reparked and walked right in. Wow guess what..... SCORE!
I found some great candies that are in the shapes of skulls and bones. They are hard candy, like runts, so I will put them in the freezer and they will keep just fine until then I think.
grandcanyon016.jpg

Next I found a cute little 3 inch plastic Belle doll so I had to get that.
grandcanyon017.jpg

I turned the aisle and there were little pirate playsets. There were tons of different ones but I picked out three and I will decorate the window sill with them. I am thinking about using blue and tan and green felt to make water, sand and grass to make a landscape for the pirate scenes.
grandcanyon018.jpg

grandcanyon019.jpg

Aaron said I should have Belle trapped on the island with the pirates rescuing her. We will see.
On Thursday last week I was back on the great Tshirt project. My intention is to have something Disney wo wear every day of the trip.... even travel days.
Now don't tell Aaron but I easily already have that many Disney clothes :rolleyes1 but he and Josh do not and I will not make them ones without making me the same things so well darn, I guess I get new shirts too. :woohoo:
So I finished off my iron on projects I had been working on.
My Eeyore shirt and Aaron's Donald shirt
grandcanyon005.jpg

grandcanyon001.jpg

My family shirt (back) ... Lizzie helped
grandcanyon002.jpg

(front)
grandcanyon006.jpg

And a shirt I made Aaron to wear to MTOTP.
grandcanyon003.jpg

grandcanyon004.jpg

I have since then been shopping and bought new transfers and a totebag to add a transfer to (thanks Irky for letting me steal your idea) that I will let the characters sign. I will also make a few new shirts soon as I need to make myself 2 and Aaron 1 more halloween shirt in the next month. I have some great candy and gum wrappers that I am going to print off and cut out to tape around the candy and then leave with my tips. This is another great idea from the crafts boards and the cast members seem to get a huge kick out of the people who have done this so far.
So I have lots more to do to get ready for the trip. If any of you guys have suggestions of more stuff I could do please let me know as I am kind of getting addicted to crafts stuff.

I LOVE the Lizzie pictures! :goodvibes Especially the one with her surrounded by alcohol and the one of her swinging on the chandelier. :lmao:

Your shirts look great. The Timon Halloween one turned out really nice! Getting the bag signed was fun! Make sure you don't use green sharpie though!

You could tie dye if you want to get really crafty.
