Birthday at the Pop- PreTrippy

Decisions, Decisions, I am perfectly happy with Pop!I just don't spend that much time in the room to pay the extra money, all I need is a bed !!When I am at the hotel to rest or take a brwak I am quite happy wandering around Pop and the gift shop and checking out the resort, I love sitting on the walkway by the lake it is soooo relaxing !! When I go with the family the kids are in the pool constantly or Playing pingpong!

I didn't know you had a PTR! It's a good thing I found it. Hope you don't mind if I join in. :)

I love all your crafts!

Nice job with the crafts, Michelle! Those are awesome!
Thanks Alan. I had fun. And since Disney is the only place I can dictate that we wear matching outfits I am taking advantage of that! You guys should think about at least getting t-shirts. That might be fun for you guys to make them or else you can order them from zazzle.

Hi Michele!!

Hey Rosie!! You make a good point about the hotel just being a stop over place to sleep between the parks and swimming and downtown disney etc. Plus Josh looked at all the resorts and picked that one and a few others that he wanted to try. Of course at that point he did not know that CBR had pirate rooms. Maybe I just won't tell him about them!

I didn't know you had a PTR! It's a good thing I found it. Hope you don't mind if I join in. :)

Yay wdwgirl is here! Welcome aboard! I loved your tr and am enjoying your ptr too so I am very happy for you to join mine! Thanks about the crafts. I have plans for others too so I will post them as I get them done.

I just noticed you had a PTR and I came right on over.

I love all your crafting so far! I especially like the color of the Baggalini you picked out.

Did you decide what to do about the hotel yet? I loved Pop and figure for as little as we were in our room, we didn't need anything more expensive. Pop is very fun.

You'll be leaving the world on my birthday!

I can't wait to read more! (And hopefully read about Lizzie! ;) )

Welcome Irky!! I am so glad to be getting some readers! Now I don't feel so much like I am a crazy person talking to myself like I did last week.
Thanks about the crafts. I am actually planning to make some of the spiral shirts like you did before your last trip. I think they are adorable and seem so easy!
Thanks also about the color choice comment! They have so many great color choices but that color just spoke to me and think how cute Lizzie will be sitting in the side pockets.
We mulled it over and while I would love to sleep in a pirate bed at the CBR it just isn't worth the extra money to me. This trip we will not be with relatives like we were last time so we will probably spend almost all our time in the parks. My dbil and his 2 younger kids kinda slowed us down this summer but Aaron, Josh and I are marathoners when it comes to the parks so Pop will be just fine. Plus it is cute with all the big giant pop icons!
That is really funny that I am leaving the park on your birthday as Alan Renfroe above is leaving the park on my birthday a month later.
I will think of you (and Jack of course) while we are there!

So we have a little addition to our trip that I would like to tell you all about. Irky here has a great traveling companion named Jack who gets into some really funny situations and is always good to help pass time (like waiting in line at Disney for example). Well her adventures with Jack seemed so much fun I decided to find a travel companion of my own. Now picking a companion was harder than it seemed. I travel with 2 boys (one over grown and one almost into double digits) so I decided I needed female company, but who? I searched and searched and finally found her just sitting there waiting for me.
Meet Lizzie.
1474_11.jpg

She is still on her way to her new home but I am very excited to meet her and have her start helping me plan.
Lizzie McGuire was a great show on the Disney channel in the early 2000s for any of you who do not know her. I used to watch it with two of my nieces when they were kids. I was so excited when I saw her and just knew that it was meant to be!

So I was reading on a thread about pop how a lot of people decorate their windows. I want to do princesses because I love the princesses but I will add pirates in there too because of Aaron and Josh and also because the Pirate and Princess parties will probably be going on then.
So acting on EnglishRoses' advice I checked out our local dollar tree store. I just want to say that this just shows how much I love Disney because I hate the dollar tree because of the shopping center it is in. That place is ridiculous. There are zero parking spots. I drove around and around and finally got a spot on the complete opposide of the shopping center away from the store I was going to. It is in a crumby part of Charleston, there is also only one way in and one way out of this lot and it holds dollar tree, ac moore, office max, several eating places, hancock fabrics, superwalmart, hair cuttery and a men's barber shop, a lens crafters, game stop, linnens n things, old navy, several small clothing shops, a trophy store, dry cleaners, a check cashing place and last but not least the dollar tree.
But let me tell you how happy I am right now that I braved all that today after work. I have been looking high and low for some wall paper cutouts that are safe for glass. I wanted those because they are more durable than window clings and they do not loose their clingyness if you reposition them. I totally hit pay dirt and OMG they were only a buck each!! I have seen some of the same ones at Lowes for like $7.99 or something so how excited and I right now. I got three of the walpaper clings. 2 have princesses and one has the Disney fairies on them but they are pretty and princessey enough for me.
disneycrafts041.jpg

They are larger than they look because I zoomed out. The Cinderella, Aurora and Ariel in the one on the right are about 7 to 8 inches tall each. I also got some window decorations that will match.
disneycrafts042.jpg

They are about 6 inches tall each and I'm not sure how I will use them but I will figure it out.
While I was there I also found these great stickers to use on my mousekeeping envelopes (and incidentally the reason why I braved this parking lot so a big thanks for the tip Rosie!).
disneycrafts045.jpg

My final purchase was three packs of glow jewelry. They were really big packs for a dollar each so they will probably not last for long when we break them open but they will do for an hour or two at the parks at night.
disneycrafts046.jpg

So overall I think I had a very productive afternoon. Sorry to whine about the store, I just hate going there so whine over.

Hi, Michelle! I'm really looking forward to keeping tabs on your trip report and you've inspired me to start my own! I'll be heading down the week after you....April 21-29.:yay:

Amanda first off welcome! Secondly that is awesome that you have decided to do a ptr! I am honored to have inspired you. I can not wait for your input on my plans. Oh, and send me a link to your ptr so I can check it out.

Glad you found stuff at Dollar Tree I haven't hit the Jackpot like you, but we have 3 in town and one is expanding to a bigger store sooo I'm waiting to hit the jackpot there !! I have also found Princess and Pirate placemats there which I plan on using for my windows !! OMG I just realised I am planning on decorating for my Sept.09 trip and I'm going solo in May Hmmmm !!

That is cool Rosie. I think you should use the pirate and princess stuff in May to decorate just for yourself as well. The parties should be happening then unless for some weird reason Disney doesn't host them in '09 so the theme would be perfect timing!

Hi Michelle! Sounds like you are a true bargain shopper/finder! That's awesome. :thumbsup2
Hi Alan! I just got lucky as far as bargain shopping goes but it sure was nice to get some things for cheap. I also made a mad dash to the supercenter near my house last night because someone forgot to buy cat food. :rolleyes1 Since Aaron is out of town I guess I have to take the blame on that one. While I was there I bought some plain white thirts (that were on clearence woohoo!) and some fabric spray paint and a bleach pen so I have a project for today. I will be posting those pics later after it is all said and done but so far they look pretty cute. I had left over paint so I also sprayed some on a greenish yellow shirt and did weird things with glue so we will see how things turn out.

Hi Michelle, I thought that I'd follow the link & come visit. I had no idea that you were so crafty! Your trip is going to be so much fun.

Do you have an AC Moore or a Michaels or any sort of craft store near you? Because sometimes you just trip over the disney stickers, clings, notebooks, etc in there. It's pretty hit & miss but when the stuff is on sale you can clean up. Plus they seem to have 40% off coupons ever week.

My local, loathsome dollar store never has any good stuff. Just used pumice stones & open cereal boxes :rotfl: .

I will report back about POP & hopefully put your worries to rest. Then again, we're used to sleeping in a double bed with the cat periodically running over our heads during the night so my interpretation of comfort might not be the same as yours :rotfl: .

I love those stickers! I might have to make a trip to the Dollar Store!

I had to laugh when I saw your glow stick packages because DBF told me I was never to buy another glow stick as long as I live because I bought so many this past year. :rotfl: He's not going to be very happy with me if I go into the Dollar Store! ;) :rolleyes1

Thanks for the tip!

Hi Rottiemom! Welcome!
Thanks for the compliment. I have fun with the crafts but sometimes they do not turn out that great. And I think my trip will be awesome!
I stopped into the AC Moore yesterday afternoon and didn't have much luck but I will try Michaels. Also I could have just been tired and iritated from the dollar tree when I went in there so that is why I didn't find anything.
I can not wait to hear all your stories about Pop! It is funny you mention the cat running across you at night. We have three that do that at various times of night. I honestly can not remember the last time I didn't wake up at least twice in the middle of the night because a cat was stepping or sitting on some weird place on me. It will be a vacation just to be away from them! Just teasing really. I love my cat babies.
I just realized that I have never introduced them so here are pics I took today actually.
This is Abby, she decided she was going to help her mommy today while I was trying to make t-shirts.
disneycrafts048.jpg

Abby is my snuggle bug and completly mommy's girl. If she even walks near me she starts purring which of course is adorable!

This is Charlotte.
disneycrafts051.jpg

Anytime I have the back door open she is out on this screen porch. She is from the same littler as Abby and also another cat we had named Lilly. Lilly managed to get out of the house a few months ago as we were moving in here and a few days later we found out she was killed by a car. We adopted these three before they were even weened. They had been abandoned outside a pet store in Myrtle Beach and we came along just before they were going to take them to an animal shelter. Charlotte is slightly darker than Abby and is definitly the baby of my group. She is the ultimate lap cat but she prefers her daddy. Aaron travels quite a bit so she favors me with her affection when he is gone but when he is home she is where ever he is.
This is Leo.
disneycrafts052.jpg

Leo is our aloof boy. He wants attention when he wants it and only then. We adopted him in Maryland several years back. He is about twice the size of the little girls but plays well with them (when he wants to associate with them). Now imagine him springing right onto your chest in the middle of the night. Yeah Pop can't phase me with these three.

I love those stickers! I might have to make a trip to the Dollar Store!

Those stickers are great aren't they! I hope you find some great ones... and then you can even use them for your students and not have to wait 'till your next trip! I think I would have loved it if my teachers had put Disney stickers on my papers in school.
That made me :rotfl2: about your dbf and the glow sticks. I noticed in a lot of your pics in your tr that your ds had on glow neclaces. That is just too funny! But man for an 8 pack for a dollar your dbf can't be too upset. Surely he wouldn't you rather pay like $4 each for them in WDW.

Today was a day off from work so instead of unpacking more boxes from the garage I pulled out all my disney projects and got some stuff done. My agenda for today was to get some spiral dye t shirt things and some cute iron on transfer Ts done. What I learned is that I suck at spray fabric dye and that the cheaper iron on transfers work much better than the expensive ones.
I have seen some great shirts on here where people either use glue or a flour and water mixture and make swirls in the shape of Mickey heads then use fabric dye over that. I do not know where the thread for this went so I kind of made them from memory. The boys' shirts turned out ok but I did not use enough dye on mine and it shows. Here is Aaron's when it was still wet.
disneycrafts058.jpg

disneycrafts059.jpg

This is mine.
disneycrafts061.jpg

See how the Mickey head is much smaller than Aaron's and also it is not as dyed.
disneycrafts060.jpg

This is Joshua's shirt. The ears are kinda too small for the head but I think his turned out best of all.
disneycrafts062.jpg

Here they all three are. Mine is left, Aaron's is middle and Josh's is bottom right.
disneycrafts063.jpg

I still had dye left over so I took an old shirt of mine and started playing. I took a bleach pen first and made a big rectangle on the front. After that was dried out and bleached I took the gluestick and made the spirals and wrote my name and some squigglies. Next I let that dry then sprayed all the left over blue paint dye on the rectangle of bleached shirt. I let all tis dry then went over the spiral edges with the bleach pen then put it in the washer. I actually like the results I got. Here is this shirt.
disneycrafts057.jpg

Up next.... Iron on transfers!

After cleaning up all the dye and bleach and everything I got out the iron on transfers. I knew there were only 2 left from the last time but I had picked up a suppossedly really nice expensive pack at A C Moore yesterday. The package said they were easy to use, could be used on any cotton or cotton/poly blend shirt and the image would stretch. Oh and by the way they were twice the price of the ones I bought last week. I found the perfect graphics, printed them all up and proceeded to ruin 2 shirts before I gave up. I was really frustrated at this point but I remembered the leftover ones from before so I reprinted two transfers and at least got them done. Unfortunatly these had white backgrounds and that showed up as they were colored shirts. But that's ok. I think they turned out ok anyway.
Here is Aaron's to match the one I did for Josh last week.
disneycrafts054.jpg

disneycrafts053.jpg

Here is the front of all three of our red family shirts and as soon as I get more transfers that work I will do the back of mine. The Michelle Mickey head has not been ironed on yet that is why it looks different than the other two.
disneycrafts055.jpg

And here is Josh's new one. I wish the transfers that did not show the white background had worked for me. But this will do, I still think it is cute.
disneycrafts056.jpg

Behind Josh's shirt there you can see my ruined one. I kept it because I want to match the color when I go back to the store. What happened with the transfers is that they only partly came off. I followed the instructions precisely and even called the help line on the package but they just would not work for me. That is ok I will just buy more of the first kind and redo my beautiful Eeyore shirt that got messed up and my red family shirt.
Here are all of the shirts that I have made or am in the process of making. By the way do you guys see Charlotte laying out on the rail in the screen porch? See that is just where she is if Aaron is not home. Too cute huh!
disneycrafts064.jpg

Next up.... envelopes

Great job with the shirts...you are on a roll!
