Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

I just PMd buzz last night and am waiting for a team assignment, but in the meantime I quitos love to introduce myself to you all! My name is Amanda and I have have 120lbs to lose :scared1: But the good news is I know I can do it! A few years ago I lost 100lbs (though I still had quite a few to lose to reach my goal). I, unfortunately, let myself regain A LOT of that weight back though :sad2: But now I am ready to restart this journey! My goal for this challenge its to lose 40lbs. Our very first Disney trip is coming up in July and I plan to lose 60lbs by then. I feel like this wil be a great place to start!

Hello!
I was wondering if I could join the biggest loser challenge, I know I am late to the party! I can’t pm yet, so I hope that buzz sees this.
I have 160 lbs total to lose. When I hit my goal I am going to reward myself with a trip to Disney. So I hope DIS and this group will inspire me to keep on track. :goodvibes

Haven't heard back from this, :confused3 guess I'll have to get posting so I can PM.

Welcome Mickeys and Donalds to the Merged Thread!

My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your coach this week. I am really looking forward to it.

Since we have been separate for awhile, I thought it best to go with the intro QOTD.

QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.

I am going to post HH next and then I'll be on as soon as I wake up in the morning. I am hoping to not sleep so late tomorrow.

Woo hoo, feel like I'm on Survivor and made it to the merge!!! Never made it this far in BL:cool1:
QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.

I'm Michele, teacher, wife, mom of 2 young kids, over 40 (and hence losing weight slooowly). Down about 3 or 4 lbs from the start of the challenge, but more importantly, have succeeded in tracking food on MFP every single day (good and bad days) AND incorporating regular jogging 3x a week into my schedule. Family is on board with this healthy addition to my schedule--the boys don't love the daycare at the gym, but they want Mom to be healthy, so they suck it up for 45 minutes every now & then for me, and dh:lovestruc handles things at home for 2 or 3 hours on weekends for me to trudge through my long run because I'm slow as molasses:rotfl:

Goals? In a moment of mid-life crisis, I signed up for a half marathon in May, hope I survive the training and the race. Also want to keep exercising regularly--I think it helps with my stress. Re weight loss, 8 lbs. would be nice--I want my pants to fit more loosely, would like not to be so scared of bathing suit season:rotfl2: and I want to be healthy & strong and be around a long time for my kiddos & dh.

Go, Losers & Maintainers!

Yay to our merged thread! Looking forward to getting to know all these new friends! :cool1:

Hello. My name's Ashley. I'm a Biggest Loser. (Finding Nemo reference, couldn't resist ;) ) and I'm proud to have stayed steady on this journey since we started January 1st. I'm a lover of all things Disney, Doctor Who, Superman and Sherlock and would be happy to talk with you for hours on any of those subjects. I also like to sing, write, make digital art and do voice acting in my spare time.

I started this challenge at about 220 lbs, (we're still not exactly sure what my heaviest weight was) I had high blood pressure and no energy from eating fast food at least 3 times a week.

Since then, I've cut out fast food, added fruits, veggies and healthy grains, joined my local gym and have lost 20lbs so far after a month of plateauing. My blood pressure's back to normal and I've also gone down a size in my clothes which makes me super happy.:goodvibes

I've already reached one of my goals (to get back into my rings) so the next goal is training for either the ToT 10 mile marathon in September or the Princess 1/2 in 2013! I still can't decide which one to try... :confused3

Can't wait to meet all of you! party:

QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.

Hello everyone! I am Melinda and I am a stay at home mom, and I volunteer a lot. I have six children ages 20, 17, 15, 14, 13, and nearly 12. We are a busy family, but we have a lot of fun staying active. Exercise is by far easier for me than the eating healthy part. I love to run (and I'm getting faster with less weight to carry over that finish line). I have lost nearly 15 pounds since this challenge started. This is my first Biggest Loser challenge. I started running nearly two years ago, and my half marathon PR is 3:19. When I first started running my pace was over 18 minutes per mile, and with hard work and losing some weight, I am newly in the 12:something per mile (most of the time), or 13:something, and I owe it all to this thread and Weight Watchers online. I am signed up for a lot of races, but the Disney races I have coming up are the Tower of Terror 10 Miler and the Wine and Dine Half 2012, and I hope to get to do WDW Half Marathon 2013. Disney races I have done so far: WDW Half 2011, Disneyland Half 2011, Neverland 5K 2012, and Inaugural Tinker Bell Half 2012.

I am a vegeterian, and I enjoy quilting when I ever have time, and movies.

My goals: for this challenge: lose 15 more pounds, for a total of 30, and to set a new half marathon PR, even if just by a few seconds, or preferably - minutes.

Take care, everyone, and have a fabulous OP day! And, its weigh in day! :) :hippie:

Hi! My name is Kristina. I’m 43 years old and have been married to my DD for almost 19 years. We have a DD13 and I work at her school as the HR/Payroll/AP Manager. I have lost 7 pounds since the beginning of January. It would have been more, but I had a few weeks of stress at work/school. I don’t deal well with stress and I fell back on bad habits. Poor food choices and lack of exercise took their toll and I gained back a few pounds. If it weren’t for the Biggest Loser Challenge I think it would have given up. I am now back on track and the scale is finally moving in the right direction again. My goal is to lose 25-30 pounds and to become toned. I haven’t worn shorts in years and I would like to wear them when we go to Disney this summer.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone on our merged thread.

CC, thank you for being our coach this week!

Good Friday morning everyone.

My name is Dona. I have been a Biggest Loser for a couple of years now. I have not lost a lot of weight but my eating has been better than it ever has been. I have lost about 5 pounds since Jan and have kept it off.

I am 56 year old wife of almost 34 years, mother of two boys, ds1 is almost 27 and ds2 21 will graduate college in 49 days :banana::banana: but then starts grad school the following week. We are in the process of getting him in first apartment

I have been teaching math for 35 years and have been teaching Advanced Placement Calculus for the last 10. I also work with the local high school (where my sons' went to school) with costumes for their musicals.

Dh and I have been talking retirement and I need to get into a good routine before I do because many of my hobbies are sedentary ones. The healthier I am the better off I will be.

The local high school finished their musical run last weekend. This weekend they are celebrating their 50th anniversary as a theater group. They have invited old members to perform. There were 4 of us last night decorating hats for their Hello Dolly numbers. We also ironed dresses and made room for the wardrobes for the show. It was a busy night but it was fun to see my ds1 perform again.

It is good to be one group again. Hello friends from both teams. I have missed some friends who are on Team Mickey and am excited about meeting the people I don't know from Team Mickey. Team Mickey you will meet some great people from Team Donald. It has been great getting to know them .

Have a happy and healthy day.

Hi everyone I'm a 46yr old SAHM at the moment (though that may change in the near future-I'm a RN but theres no part-time work here and I dont want full-time:rolleyes1). I had been doing great on this Bl challenge (my first) until the 3 rd week of feb when it all started going a bit pear-shaped:scared1: From jan 1st I have lost 7lbs (at one point I was 13 lbs down:headache:) but instead of giving up I'm determined to make a fresh start:yay:
I would really like to lose 20lbs by the end of May so I know I have to commit properly again today:). My eldest graduates this June as a teacher and I also have a 14yr old and a 5 yr old to keep me busy:)
I have made some great improvements to my diet (adding in fruit, veg and water) and exercise routine (actually doing something:rotfl2:) and decided today to get my act back together and start shifting those lbs:yay:

Good morning everyone!! I'm so excited for the merge to catch up with some old friends from Team Mickey, and to make some new ones.

I'm Kathy, 48 yo single mom to awesome ds10 Mike, and daughter-doggie, Poko. I'm an RN also, work in Endoscopy, have been on multiple BL challenges, and through many ups and downs, feel like I am truly in a good place and on the down swing again for good this time. My motto is to NEVER GIVE UP!! Not always easy to do, but this is a lifetime journey now. I did get some new motivation this week, the invitation to my 30th high school reunion in november!:scared1: I'm excited to continue our spring challenge all together! And am proud to say I started today with a 2.2 lb loss, so only 3.8 pounds til ONE-derland!! I know it's a lovely place to be!!

Thank you CC for coaching this week!! I'm sure it will be a busy one!!

Have a great friday, good luck on the scale everyone!!:goodvibes:)

Hello everyone! My name is Lynda and I'm a 40 year old SAHM. I have alot of goals for this summer...my husband is Army so we'll be relocating in July. I will complete my bachelors degree at the end of June and ideally I would like to lose 18 more pounds by then to reach my goal weight!

Since Jan. 1st I have only lost 8 lbs (but yay for those 8!!), and I've been stuck at my current weight for about 3 weeks now :sad2: Today is my 16th wedding anniversary, so my husband will come home soon and we'll spend the day together. We're going to start by going for a loooong walk. I'm going to really work to shake it up because I really want to meet my goal.

I'm excited for this merge. I don't think I would have lost the 8 pounds I have so far without this challenge. I wish everyone luck and continued success here!!

Hello! My name is Kaiti, and I'm excited to be part of the merged thread! My health journey has been full of ups and downs, but I haven't quit yet. My big goal is to weigh-in at 145, and to finish the ToT 10mi race taking place in September. I also need to get my diet under control- I eat too many sweets, eat too much of everything really. So I've been working on portion control and eating better foods to start with. And water-lots and lots of water!

QOTD for Friday, 3/23: Introduce yourself. Share your name, how your health journey is going, and any goals you may have.

Hello all,

I am Christopher and I live in Switzerland. I am American but have been living here since 2003. I am a music teacher for children ages 4 to 11 at an international school.

Though I started my diet on January 10th, I did not join the challenge until the end of the month when I found the WISH thread on the DIS. As of this morning's weigh-in I am down 44 pounds since I January 10. I have to say, the support and encouragement that I have received from the Donalds along the way has really helped.

I was the coach for the Donalds last week, and though the posts had slowed down, we have a few dedicated to the BL journey and I look forward to continuing witht them while also meeting up with the Mickeys.......just a question.....any guys on Team Mickey??? If not, no worries, just curious.

Have a great day to all!!

Christopher

I see that the Healthy Habits I posted last night did not post. Unfortunately, I did not save them, so I will have to recreate them.

Off to do that now!

Healthy Habits Week 13: Carousel of Progress

In honor of merging threads, I thought we could focus on how far we have come in the last 12 weeks.

This week’s 4 Habits are:

1. The family showcased in CoP didn't have a refrigerator at one point, but they did drink water. Drink a total of 64 oz. of water during the day. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.

2. We get to see exercise equipment from decades ago. I'm not sure how ell it worked, but we do know the value of exercise. Exercise daily. The goal is purposeful movement that burns calories, not a specific minimum amount of time.

3. In the final scene, we see the family cooking Christmas dinner. While the protein burns, the meal itself appears to be healthy and in particular, a good source of protein. Eat 2 servings of protein per day.

4. One of the things I noticed from watching the family go through time is that people have different ideas of how to reach their goals. This week, think about your goals and each day, do something YOU think/know will help you reach one or all of them. Examples: Journal your food, have a glass of milk, save your spare change. Note: Exercising and eating protein do not count.

Mini-Challenges

1. [Reflect on Your Progress: Think about what has worked and what hasn't worked. Think about who is helping you and who is not. Consider where you are now, where you were, and where you want to be.

2. A Good Way to Make Progress: Make 1 of your workouts (or part of one of your workouts) strength training.

Note: This week will go from Saturday to Thursday as this was posted late.

Good Morning Mergers!!

I'm Karen and I am a 38 year old College Counselor at a private school in NJ. Since the beginning of the challenge (and joining WW) I have lost a little under 10 pounds :) I've had a rough week this week with the death of my godfather on Tuesday (wake today and funeral tomorrow.) I've done pretty well on this challenge and hope to lose 20 pounds by July!

Thanks to Christopher for being a wonderful coach last week :woohoo:

I'm so excited to be back in the fold with so many of you from past challenges and I look forward to meeting new friends too!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey Kathy...looks like a coffee on the deck morning!! :lovestruc
Beautiful day here in NJ!! It's my last day of spring break :( so I am going to live it up!! I went to the wake last night and it was tough...I'm going again today at 3pm as well....and I have been asked to read at the funeral tomorrow.
Hunger Games movie tonight at 10pm after a healthy meal at The Garlic Rose...yum!! I'm off to the gym for morning spin and maybe a walk outside....
Have an OP day and make great choices!!
