Citricos (D)

I have to admit, I've never been one to be able to afford to stay at The Grand Floridian. I think that resort is so beautiful and I love to visit that resort when I go to Disney World.

Needless to say, Citricos was my favorite meal from top to bottom! I have fond memories of going to this restaurant with my family for a "fancy" night out.

For this meal, the wait staff was so kind and accommodating. They really make you feel like you're someplace special and being taken care of. We had reservations for 9:30pm, so the restaurant was pretty empty. We had a view of the glittering pool out one window and a view of Toy Story 3 out the other (on one of those big screens for the kids). Then we caught some fireworks shooting up.

When we first arrived, my waitress greeted me and congratulated me on my graduation. Here's my custom menu:

DBFF and I ordered the exactly same thing for each course so I'm just going to have one dish for each course!

Appetizer

This comes with citrus scented sea salt on the butter. So yummy!

"Super Foods" Sangria - pomegranate, acai among other flavors

DBFF and I splurged and both got drinks. She got some wine and I got this sangria. It was so rich and tart! I love pomegranate and any of those "dark" berry flavors with all the antioxidents. I drank this whole thing and I must admit, felt pretty groovy afterwards!

We both got the Sautéed Shrimp - Lemon, White Wine, Tomatoes, and Feta Cheese $14.00

This was probably my favorite appetizer the entire trip. The sauce is light and slightly garlicy and I LOVE Feta cheese and shrimp so this was just a bowl of some of my favorite things. Tender, perfectly cooked shrimp. My only complaint is that I could have eaten more!!

Entrees

We both got Pan-roasted Chicken Breast -Allears.net says this: with Piquillo Pepper Polenta Cake, Sauteed Root Spinach, and an Apple Cider-infused Chicken Jus $33.00 but I don't think that's what this is. I remember it having like purple potatoes and little squash. But I could be wrong.

Best. chicken. ever! This was juicy and so flavorful! One of the really fun things about this dish is all the weird squash looking things on it. There were probably 5 different baby squashes on their all with different colors and shapes. And then DBFF found a small sliver of nectarine that was just divine. And I gave her my piece of nectarine because we are BFFs!

Desserts

We both got Lemon-scented Cheesecake - with a blanket of White Chocolate Ganache $9.00

I mean, it's a work of art, right? We both are lemon flavored things fans so this is about the best you can get. The fresh raspberries added a new layer of tartness as did the sauce underneath. The added touch of the crunch triangle and the "congratulations" chocolate (that I wouldn't recommend eating) makes this almost too pretty to eat. Notice I said ALMOST! We both ate our entire plates and our waitress came back and said, "Well I guess you didn't like that very much!"

It was just a wonderful, quiet evening. Good drinks, good food, good company.

It happens when you are popular!! The photos probably won't show up till next month! You either need to go pro, wait it out, or use a different photo sharing website if you want us to see all your wonderful photos!

Shutterfly is what I use as well! Always have.. my pics aren't as big as you can post with photobucket but it works fine!

Sassagoula Food Court POFQ (2nd Breakfast)

The morning of HS ropedrop, we hit up Sassagoula for a bite to eat.

I love Mickey waffles! Who doesn't! I especially like this jumbo variety! DBFF enjoyed her omelet. She was glad she ordered the Western omelet, because there weren't any already made sitting under the heat lamp (these go so fast they never sit under there long), but they made it for her fresh. Yummy!

Great photos and reviews so far! We're staying at POFQ in October and plan on grabbing breakfast a few times so I appreciate the pics of the options!

Glad you enjoyed your meal at Yak & Yeti...I often get the shrimp, myself, and I love it! It's one of our top 5 favorite restaurants at the World!

Your meal at Citricos looks fantastic! That place has never really pinged my radar but that lemon cheesecake is drool-worthy!

Your Citricos meal looks great - I'd be all over that shrimp appetizer and chicken entree. And you're so right about that butter - the citrus scented sea salt is a unique and delicious touch!

Citricos and Mickey waffles - that is a PERFECT review! Seriously though, I love Citricos - especially the olive bread (I know, why waste the stomach space?) and the filet! I've had the shrimp appetizer and it was good as well. Glad you had a lovely experience!

BTW: That is so cool that they had the personalized menu to commemorate your special occassion!

Anyone who knows me knows that I get excited over Mickey waffles to you defintely get one of these for those little goodies!
