We are having record highs here in Ohio (our average right now is 95 degrees!) So this girl has been staying INDOORS since she got back from Disney. I'm a teacher so I have my summers off and have that luxury! And let me tell you,
you need at least a weekend to recover from a Disney vacation before you return to everyday life! But for some reason, we keep going back for more!
T-Rex Restaurant (D)
I have been to the Rainforest Cafe, so I was excited to learn that T-Rex was now on the dining plan! I had heard all about this restaurant being LOUD, but I wanted to try it anyways!
And let me tell you,
this restaurant is LOUD! Like having to yell to talk to the person sitting one foot across from you loud! Since we were going to go to plenty of quiet sit down restaurants (Citricos, anyone?), I didn't really care about the noise. But if you want a quiet eating environment, go ANYWHERE else (even Rainforest Cafe is quieter in my experience). In fact, our hostess as she was walking us to our seat said "welcome to the quietest restaurant on Earth!"
We were sat at a table that was RIGHT next to the aquarium in the "ocean" part of the restaurant. If you don't know, the restaurant is divided into different "terrains" like ice, water, rocky lands, etc. It was nice to see the little "Dorys" swimming around among other tropical fish.
Our waiter was NOT named Peter, but I kept calling him Peter. And now I can't remember his actual name! He was super nice, talkative, joked with us (I'm the type to yuck it up with my waiter whenever possible), and even said that even it takes him a little longer to see how we're doing, he hadn't forgotten us. I thought, uh oh, we'll never see him again, but sure enough, he was attentive and everything was great!
On to the food:
Drinks
I'm only sharing the drinks because they were specialty drinks on the meal plan.
(Left) A Strawberry-asaurus lemonade with actual strawberries in the bottom, (Right) the Very-Cherry Limeade.
No refills on these but nice to get something other than just "Coke, Sprite, Diet" as an option.
Appetizers
DBFF's Melalosaurus Mozzarella - Seared Mozzarella with creamy marinara and mozzarella fingers $8.99
We got our appetizer choices to share. The mozzarella sticks were pretty much what you expect. The marinara was yummy (and hot, which I prefer). Now that "seared mozzarella" was so FREAKIN yummy. It was like a mozzarella "patty" with this breading on the top. I've never had anything like it. It had a richer flavor than the sticks and we ate that thing right up!
My T-Rexadillas - Chicken, peppers, green onions, Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses grilled in flour tortillas and served with pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole $9.99
Okay now I am not lying when I say these were some of the
best quesadillas I have ever had. Crunchy tortilla? Check. Juicy chicken inside? Check. I ate two of these and was like... must.stop.more.food.coming. So good! I seriously could have just eaten this for dinner, but you know how to works on the Deluxe Plan, there's ALWAYS more food coming!
Entrees
DBFF's Boneyard Buffet - Fire-roasted Rotisserie Chicken and Mega Mes-O-Bones served with garlic mashed potatoes and cinnamon apples $26.99
Now you HAVE to be thinking, she can't be serious right? A rack of ribs AND half a chicken?

My DBFF wanted the rotisserie chicken, but she also wanted to try the ribs that our waiter (not named Peter) so enthusiastically recommended. The ribs were the highlight of the dish for her. In fact, she said she could have gone without the chicken (she only took a few bites). She
HATED the cinnamon apples. She took a bite and made a face. They were salty and weren't soft like she expected. She said she wanted "Boston Market's" apples, but these just WEREN'T.
My Fire-Roasted Rotisserie Chicken - Half of a chicken, slow-roasted and served with waffle fries $19.99
According to Allears, you get two sides with this dish? I was only offered one, so I got waffle fries. So basically my dish is HALF of what DBFF ordered. So if we weren't on the meal plan, you can just order what she got and share it! I ate some of the breast of the chicken, but after the quesadillas and mozzarella, I was saving room for dessert! This was pretty good chicken. It reminds me of the rotisserie chicken you get at Sam's Club or Giant Eagle, or any grocery store.
Desserts
NOTE: Now this isn't mentioned on Allears, but some of the dishes are said to be "For two" or "for four" and you HAVE to share them on the meal plan. So if we got the dessert for "two" that would be our only dessert. And we didn't have the option of getting the dessert "for four." Just a little tidbit. This is also true for the Appetizers as well!
DBFF's Cosmic Key Lime Pie - freshly baked key lime pie in a graham cracker crust, served with raspberry sauce and fresh whipped cream $7.99
We are both fans of cheesecake and Key Lime pie (as you will see if you continue to read my DR!), so I had a bite of this. This isn't the BEST Key Lime pie I had on my trip (that's hands down Wolfgang Puck's Cafe's pie), but it was yummy.
My Ice Age Indulgence - layers of ice cream sandwich, fudge sauce, creamy whipped topping, and Heath Bar crunch $8.99
You know what this dessert had going for it? TEXTURES! The ice cream with the crispy chocolate layers in the middle (sort of like a crispier outside of an ice cream sandwich) with the chocolate syrup. I ate more of this than I should but had to call it quits. Wouldn't want to GO EXTINCT on the first day our trip from too much food!
All in all, I like T-Rex. It's a nice option on the meal plan because there are SO MANY choices on the menu. That's not true for most Disney restaurants.
p.s. As I was writing this, I remembered my waiter's actual name.
PATRICK!
