BFFs Deluxe it Up in WDW! w/ PICS! - Wolfgang Puck Cafe - COMPLETED!! :)

Yum, next time I getting the pot pie, looks fantastic. Also good to know about the wine flight, going to add that to my F&W checklist ;)

Great reviews and pics! I have a question though....every recent menu I have seen for 50's no longer shows the Chicken Pot Pie available. All the menus I've seen have it replaced with some sort of Tuna Casserole. When did you actually eat at 50's?

June 28, 2012. We ate around 8:30pm.

On the day we went to the Magic Kingdom, we slept in and didn't get breakfast. Instead, we stayed in our resort until around 1pm. Then, we headed over to MK, hopped on the monorail, and rode over at the Contemporary to eat at...

Contempo Cafe (L)

I really wanted to try this newer quick service option on the monorail. Boy was I glad I went! This a wonderful and great use of a QS credit that's on the monorail (and therefore easy to get to). We did go later in the day, so it wasn't crowded. I can imagine that this place gets super crowded because the seating area is not huge. As you all know, you order on a touch screen. Then you head over and grab your drinks and dessert. Then you get a buzzer when you pay. When your buzzer goes off, you go get your food.

DBFF's Spice Crusted Mahi - topped with citrus-apple slaw on a Kaiser roll $9.19
ry%3D400

This was a hot sandwich selection. She really liked this and thought it was a unique option. She also liked that they had options for sides (like green beans) that wasn't just fries. It was a large sandwich so she only ate about 2/3 of it.

My cheese flatbread $6.99
ry%3D400

I don't know if you can tell by this picture, but that plate this flatbread is on is the large oval plates. And that thing is falling off of the sides its so large! As you can see, the toppings and sauce are abundant and go all the way to the ends. I ate most of this (sharing some with DBFF!) This was the best QS pizza I had on the trip.

Now, as you wait for your food, you already have your dessert on your plate. So we were starving and had to stare at THIS while we waited for our buzzer (lest we spoil our lunch!).

Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake
ry%3D400

We both got the same dessert. This is a strawberry cupcake with a lemon filling and strawberry icing.

Inside

This tastes as good as it looks! This was BY FAR the best cupcake we had at Disney (we had around 6 cupcakes)! The cake was moist and the filling was just the perfect lemon tart flavor that this was just DIVINE! And it had sprinkles too!! Perfection!

I love Contempo Cafe, and you're making me regret that I didn't try the strawberry lemonade cupcake when I had the chance.

Flatbread and strawberry lemonade cupcake = awesome!!! You certainly showed some self control if you didn't dig into the cupcake before you got your food!! :thumbsup2

Yep, those cupcakes look amazing! Thank you for showing the inside. Now, I have to try one next month. :D

Ugh! Why did I look at this now? That flatbread and the cupcake look really good and now I'm starving.

Oh, no! I was gonna get the Dulce de Leche cupcake from Contempo Cafe, but that Strawberry Lemonade looks amazing! What to do? What to do? :confused3

Those cupcakes at Contempo Cafe get me every time! Every trip there's something new I need to try. The Strawberry Lemonade cupcake looks delicious but I'm not sure of my chances of them having it during our trip in January.

Tony's Town Square (D)

Now I was fully aware going into Tony's Town Square that it's not the best restaurant in the world and doesn't get the best reviews. For us, it was about location and convenience.

Unfortunately, our reservation was for 8:30 and when we got there, they told us right away that they were running behind by 15 minutes. This was the only restaurant that made us wait for our reservation. 40 minutes later, we were finally seated. You could tell that everyone was a tad disgruntled and they just couldn't catch up. Once we were seated, we received great service.

Appetizers

DBFF's Calamari - Tossed with Olive Relish and served with a side of Marinara sauce $9.99
ry%3D400

This was DBFF's favorite calamari of the trip. She actually liked this MUCH BETTER than the calamari at Via Napoli (Via Napoli uses a corn-based crust and I think that made it not good for her). She ate most of this and was happy to get some yummy calamary!

My Toasted Cheese and Garlic Bread - topped with fresh tomatoes and basil $6.99
ry%3D400

Our waitress recommended this as a frequently ordered appetizer. This was YUMMY! I loved the cold tomatoes on the hot toasty bread. It was kind of bruchetta-esque (which is something I love), so I ate a lot of this! So good!

Entrees

DBFF and I both ordered the Chicken Parmigiana - Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast with Marinara sauce topped with Melted Mozzarella over Spaghetti $17.99

..........................:confused:Where's the picture of my chicken Parm?:confused::confused:

This is exactly what I said to myself when I went through my pictures. I am SO SAD I deleted/missed this picture. I'm sure you can find a pic of this elsewhere on the board.

We both enjoyed the chicken parm. The sauce wasn't that great (just bland is all), but the spaghetti was good and the chicken was breaded and yummy. We both thought this was just mediocre and the sauce wasn't so great.

Desserts

We both ordered the Chef's Signature Cheesecake - $5.49. Today's flavor was Amaretto (YUM!)

This was delicious! When DBFF heard the flavor was amaretto, she almost squealed with delight because she loves things flavored like that. This was rich and had a strong, delicious amaretto flavor. Just wonderful!

The reviews for Tony's aren't nearly as bad as they used to be - I never considered it before, but I'm gradually warming up to it.

I'm glad to hear you had a good meal there (aside from the long wait)!

That cupcake from Contempo Cafe looks amazing! Definitely worth stopping by on a Monorail tour someday!

Joining in! Love the reviews so far!

If you go back to 50s Prime Time, you can ask for something to be subbed for the collard greens (like green beans for example.)

Snacks (Part 1)
All snacks are on DDP with the exception of the caramel apple below.

Downtown Disney - Goofy's Candy Company

Minnie Mouse Caramel Apple *NOT ON DDP (cost about $10)
ry%3D400

How gorgeous is this? This is a caramel apple dipped in chocolate.

Here's the inside (it is a PAIN to get into these things once you put them into a fridge FYI. We had to get a real knife to get into this!)
ry%3D400

Rice Crispy Mickey with mini M&Ms on the other side
ry%3D400

I got this and then brought it back to the room. I nibbled on it the whole trip and didn't come CLOSE to finishing it! What a treat! I love rice crispy treats so this was wonderful!

Animal Kingdom - Dino Bite Snacks

Chocolate Chip cookie Ice Cream Sandwich
ry%3D400

This is as HUGE as it appears! It was a HOT, humid day when we got these, so it hit the spot. We always got free glasses of ice water with our snacks so it was great with some water.

Animal Kingdom - Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery

White Chocolate Elephant Cupcake
ry%3D400

Zebra Cupcake
ry%3D400

You know how many here on the DIS have said that Disney cupcakes are a 10 for looks and 5-6 for taste? Yeah, I agree with them in this instance. These look BEAUTIFUL. However, as you can see from the Zebra Cupcake and how you can see the frosty condensation on the chocolate, they take these directly from the fridge and give them to you. I don't know about you, but I don't prefer a refrigerated cupcake. The icing is hard and the cake is cold and dry. I don't have time for this to defrost and I don't want to carry these around the park. So we had a bite and threw them out. Nothing special about the cake and or the frosting.

Hollywood Studios - Starring Rolls

Butterfinger Cupcake
ry%3D400

This was a MUCH better experience than the Kusafiri cupcakes. Even though these were still refrigerated, this had a yummy butterfinger outside, chocolate fudge-y middle and chocolate cake. YUM!

Red Velvet Cheese cake Cupcake
ry%3D400

I liked this better than the Butterfinger cupcake, because I liked the cheesecake topping and red velvet cake underneath. It reminded me of the Red Velvet Cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory which is one of my favorite things EVER!

Hollywood Studios - Candy Store with the bakery counter (I don't remember the name)
ry%3D400

We got our first Cake Pop here. This one was a red velvet kind. If you like the cake pops at Starbucks (the ones where the cake and frosting are mixed together and it has a doughy consistency) you will like these! I loved this!
