Just read a post here about a Dining Plan being charged twice to a room in error.....

When is the best time to ask for a billing statement????????? Night before checkout to have time to review? Then day of checkout, after settling account, ask for a final statement?

Much thanks as always!:banana::banana:

We usually request a print out the evening before we are leaving. Usually, we will have no further charges then and can review the statement while at the front desk. We've never had any erroneous charges, but it's nice to know before checking out that everything is in order.

You should also receive an Express checkout statement on your door by 8:00am on the day of departure and can quickly verify that the charges are the same as what you saw the night before.

We always do express check-out and the bill is slid under the door very early in the morning, it's always there when we wake up.

I really think billing errors are pretty rare. I've only had one since 1992, and that was a computer glitch. The resort cmputers were going up and down all day, and when I purchased an AP, the sale was not going thorugh, so I used a credit card. Whent the resort computers came back online, the AP billed out to the room. So I simply showed the front desk my charge receipt from the credit card, and the room charge was reversed.

We've never had an issue either, and the past few years we haven't used room charging or even left a credit card with the front desk. That makes check out easy and if there is ANY charge on our check out, we know it's not going to be correct. With free internet and not doing the dining plan, there isn't much they could charge for.

I was the one with the double charge. According to the billing department, I would have never seen it on a billing statement. I had asked the same thing; should I start asking for statements early. We go to a DVC resort 5-6 times a year. This was the first time we've ever had a billing problem.

We do leave a credit card # at check in, and we once had a double charge for dinner. It was straightened out within a few minutes the morning we checked out. DH is more likely to check the night before, I wait until the morning of check out.

We don't use room charge or leave a credit card.

Mostly, we do it that way to prevent credit card fraud - the less you expose your card, the less risk. There have been some rare instances where a Disney CM has stolen credit card info from the front desk -- including one arrested a couple of months ago. It's rare, but it can happen.

The other reason is we like to make conscious purchasing decisions. If my two blondes get their heads full of pixie dust and start saying "Oh, just bill it to the room," anything can happen...and most of it ain't good!

In probably 30 trips to WDW, I only had 1 incident where I had a double charge. I think it was for a merchandise purchase. It was quickly refunded.

I prefer to only expose my card to one transacation (the front desk) rather than using the actual card all over WDW. I prefer not to carry large amounts of cash.

...When is the best time to ask for a billing statement????????? ...
As I mentioned in the other thread, I prefer to get one a couple days before leaving. This allows me to match my receipts to the bill and have plenty of time to get anything corrected without being in a hurry. This also allows us to understand how much we have left to charge before we reach our budget for that trip.

Another vote for the night before- just to verify that it's accurate. Only had a couple of minor snafus in the last 17 years.

We have had errors, in fact a $2000 one, so we check ours midstay and the night before and get express check out the day we leave.

I no longer attach a credit card to my card and just use Disney Gift cards (that I order from ebates.com before leaving) or my Disney Reward cards while I am there.

If I need more than what I have in Disney cards, then I simply use my CC as a back up.

This way, I don't have to worry about the charges and my billing statement at all. I was on the dining plan once and they charged the room instead of taking credits and it had to be straightened out.

We did not have the dining plan or room charge and they still made a $2000 mistake so it can happen.

We must be under the DVC curse, :scared1:

When we checked in they said we had a $2000 balance owed. Yes at a DVC resort booked on points. :confused3

:rotfl2:Obviously, neither of your blondes reads the DIS, right?
