Best "In-Character" Stories

I meet the Up characters and it was hilarous, Dug was distracted by squirrels and gave me a big hug (if he could talk he would have been totally saying "I Just Meet you and I Love you.") Carl Fredrickson shook hands with me, but it was Russel who took the cake he was all nevrous around me because he was in love with me and he looked at my pins and showed off his badges, and in the end he built up courage to kiss me, it was one of the best experinces Ive had in the Studios in awhile, too bad their gone :sad2: .

In 2008, my oldest son went to get Peter Pan and Wendy's autograph. He had already seen Captain Hook and had his autograph. When my son walked up to them, Peter Pan first asked him if he knew the way to Neverland? He pointed in the air saying "Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning". Then he flipped open his book to sign and saw Captain Hook's signature and asked him if he was a pirate too (we went to the Pirate/Princess party the night before)? My son told him "No" and he said that was good b/c the crocodile was looking for Captin Hook and the rest of the pirates.

When we took our oldest son for the first time he was 3. We ate at Chef Mickey's and when Pluto came by, he tried to give him to another family after we took photos. My son still talks about that before every trip.

Jack Sparrow asked him where he was from. He said the coast of SC and then Capt. Jack asked what ship he had sailed there on? I told him we had stowed away on his Black Pearl. ;)

We ate dinner at Park Fare late one evening. Our family includes my teenage DD, DH, and two DS, both in college. Lady Tremaine came over to greet us made a couple of snide remarks about Cinderella being incapable of setting a table...and then took notice of my sons. She asked if they were available, and when I said oh yes...She started yelling for the stepsisters to hurry over because she had two live ones! Oh my. Those stepsisters were all over my sons (who were so very embarassed), asking about their prospects, possible family inheritances, any land holdings...:rotfl: It was fantastic! The restaurant was not busy because it was so late, but everyone left was laughing. My kids have been going to WDW since they were very young, but this was an unforgettable experience!

We had a great Peter Pan interaction in October. While signing my DD's autograph book he asked where we were from. When we said Canada Peter replied "oh, do you live in a maple tree? That must get pretty sticky!" Then as a little girl with a missing tooth walked up he exclaimed "what happened to your tooth?! Did a pirate knock it out?!"

My two DD were sitting on the ground right by the rope for the parade. They were wearing tie-dye Mickey shirts I had made, thanks to the DIS! One of the stepsisters said, "Look! Cinderella must have done their laundry! She mixed up all the colors!!"

Earlier that day, my DD were visiting the fairies, and Tink asked if they had spilled berry juice all over their shirts. I love it when the characters respond to the kids like this!

During the PPP, my DD saw Peter Pan and Wendy. Peter was GREAT, he asked my daughter if she knew the worst thing about grown ups? He said "Coffee Breath". I laughed and DD thought he was REAL,

When we saw the Fairies last year my DD told Fawn she liked to play games and Fawn asked her to play fairy tag. Whens he got to Silvermist she was suppoed to tag her and say " your it". but my DD was shy. It was really cute though.

When we saw Mary Poppins at DHS she asked DD if her room was clean and then went on to scold her when she said no.

We saw Lady Tremaine on our way to the BBB and DD had in her Cinderella dress. Lady Tremaine told DD she looked better in it than Cinderella then said " Well come on we don't have all day, we have to be at the ball soon", so the photpass lady could take a pic!!

I am sure there are more, we have had GREAT interaction with all the characters.

I am hoping to have a magical character experience someday! I don't visit the characters as much.

Though I have to ask. What makes for the most magical character experience? I would love to know!:lovestruc

On our visit last year we had a morning appointment for DD5 at the BBB and then headed to CRT for breakfast.

For this trip, DD had decided to dress as Belle -- always a tough decision because all the princesses are her favorites. She was really excited about getting to wear the gold gown and then get all "princessed" up. She had been telling me for days about what she was going to talk to Belle about, most importantly that she LOVED to read and wanted to know what Belle's favorite story was at the moment.

Well, we are all in the castle and the princesses are making their rounds. They were all wonderful and very interactive with the entire family. Finally I see Belle, in her blue dress, making her way towards our table and DD gets very excited.

DD stands up to hug Belle and as she gets to her Belle says, "so that's what happened to my ball gown, I have been looking everywhere for it!" She went on to tell DD how beautiful she looked in it and they continued to have quite the conversation.

The next day we waited to meet the fairies and had a wonderful time. They were so talkative and playful, even getting everyone to play hids&seek. As DD was running to hide behind the stack of coins, Tink noticed that DD and both her brothers had shoes that flashed when they moved. Tink instantly dropped to the floor and pressed her nose to DDs shoes to get a better look.

She then called the other fairies over to see and they started talking very quietly to each other. All of a sudden Tink pulls off one of the shoes and starts shaking it like crazy and tells all they kids that they have to "hurry and let the fairies out!" Then she starts telling them that they must be pretty quick to be able to catch fairies and put them in the shoes. The now 6 and 4 year old still talk about it and how much fun those fairies were.

CAn't wait until our November trip for some more character fun ...

Just try to interact with them more. If you just walk up and pose for a picture you're not going to get as much of an experience as if you were to ask ariel where flounder is or something like that. Most of the time they will interact with small children without the kids starting up the conversation but if you want to have an "In character" conversation with them they would be pleased to talk with you.

During a parade at Disneyland (I forget which one..the 3 o'clock one, lol) Lady Tremaine and the 2 step sisters walked by my partner Bill and I (we're both guys, BTW). One of the step sisters stopped and asked Bill if he would like a date. Lady Tremaine shoo'ed her away and said,

"We're looking for princes, not queens!" :lmao:

How'd she know!

So cute!

MIne are Pooh fixing my hair before a picture, Eyore getting down on his knees in front of daughter when she was dressed as Jasmine and then needing Pooh and Piglets help to get up.

Goofy kissing my hand and getting on one knee in front of me on our honeymoon

Push the trash can making DH and I kiss and hug on our honeymoon

OH and when my DD was 2 Capt Hook scared my daughter, he just stared at her with that huge head and eyes until DD climbed out my arms and into her stroller, pulled down the sun visor to hide! LOL i scolded Capt Hook for scaring her and he just rubbed his hands together like he enjoyed it and walked away! LOL

When DD was dressed as Jasmine, we saw Aladdin in Morrocco and he said Princess I was looking for you and grabbed her hand and danced with her, I didnt have my camera ready so I missed a prime kodak moment! LOL

Not so much "in character" but AMAZING.

We went to WDW when I was 8.5 months pregnant with DD. We met Cinderella (my favorite princess) in Toontown. It wasn't crowded and we had a lovely conversation with her. Later in the trip we saw her again during Spectro. She saw us and smiled and waved in recognition.

Then this year we went for DD's first birthday. We saw the same Cinderella. After looking at us for a moment again her face lit up in recognition and she said, "We met while you were expecting this little princess didn't we?" I was amazed at her memory.

I had a couple of experiences while on my College Program (a million years ago) that really kept the magic alive for me even when I was backstage.

I would often see Goofy, Minnie, Pluto and Chip and Dale on their way out of Hollywood and Vine after the character breakfast in the morning. I would be on my way TO work and they would often stop and grab me for a little dance as they passed by.

When opening one of the merchandise carts in the morning, I had Aladdin "steal" plush Mickeys from the cart more than once.

My roommates and I (all twentysomething girls at the time) took a girls trip a few years back and every time we met a princess they asked us where our princes were and if we had left them at home. After being asked by the 3rd or 4th princess about our princes, one of my roommates blurted out "Geez, Cinderella is worse than my grandma asking me about my love life!"

The stepsisters were also hilariously mean to us as three single girls. They were worried we were on the prowl for the available princes.

i have had a lot of them actually. But i will mention 2 of them for everyone. the first one i am sure you have read on here once.

the first was at a pirate and princess party in March of 2008. My dd was dressed up as Tinkerbell and we had met Jack Sparrow. He was her favorite! She loved the pirates of the caribbean movies and loved Jack Sparrow. Mind you she was only 5 years old at the time. she was the only little girl in line and when it was her turn he spent a full 10 minutes talking to her and gushing over how he likes Tinkerbell. He told her he wanted her to leave Peter Pan and stay with him instead and live on the black pearl with him and go on adventures with him and my dd was in her glory! then he said he wanted her to give Peter Pan a message from him and said to find Peter and tell him that Captain Jack Sparrow sent her to tell him that he doesn't like that Wendy girl and he likes Tink more and that he wants her (meaning dd) to leave Peter and come with him. So dd was so excited and when we walked out of the area the CM heard what he said and said Peter was in Fantasyland and they called his handler and they are waiting for dd. His line is already closed but Peter wont leave till dd gets there. So we ran all the way from the beginning of adventureland to the back of fantasyland by pooh playful spot where we found Peter Pan and Wendy. they let us right in line and when dd met them she delivered jack sparrow's message word for word and peter and especially Wendy were so surprised to hear dd say that! Wendy was holding back trying not to laugh and peter played along begging tink (dd) not to leave him. He started reminding her of all the great memories they have together and everything. This Peter Pan was actually the best i had ever seen, he looked and sounded like in the cartoon! It was truly pixie dust for dd from the characters and CMs. and i do have pics of dd telling Peter and Wendy and her convo with Jack and the expressions on all of their faces is priceless. I couldn't believe how in character all of them were the whole time too even though i could tell Wendy was really holding back laughing a few times.

Another i want to mention was 2 years ago me, DH, DD, DB and his GF were eating at 1900 park fare and it was pretty late. DD was dressed as Jasmine and when the step mother came over to the table she was very in character and she noticed DD dressed as Jasmine and she asked her who her father was and she pointed at DH and the step mother called to the step sisters that she has just met princess jasmine and her father the sultan is here and he is young and very handsome so the sisters come running over and started gushing over DH and started fighting over him. they were asking him what his palace was like and could he take them to see it. DD was cracking up and DH was so red and embarrassed but he started playing along. They all must have been at our table for 15 minutes. Then lady tremaine started to scold the girls for being improper (they started pulling each others hair) and told them if they want to marry the young king they need to act lady like. It was truly hysterical! Everyone that was still in the restaurant was watching and cracking up! it was amazing!

oh i have one more that i have to mention that is kind of the opposite. on our last day 2 years ago, me, DH and DD who was 4 then were all in the Magic Kingdom. DD was dressed as Jasmine and we happened to be walking in the hub right near the partners statue and all of a sudden a group of young teenage girls started getting really excited saying OMG it is Princess Jasmine, we have been waiting all day to meet her! and they were pointing at DD. DD was looking around confused and one of the girls came over to me asked if they could all have Jasmine's autograph and if they could take a picture with her and i said yes so i asked DD if she would mind signing their books and taking pictures. Now a BIG Aladdin fan that dd was (she watched the movie over and over for months and had it memorized) she sat down with the girls in front of the statue and pretended to be the real jasmine and talked up a storm! she signed Jasmine in all their books and took a big group picture with them all! They asked her all different kinds of questions and she answered them all as if she were Jasmine! DH was taking pics for all the girls with their cameras and forgot to take pics with mine so i never got it on camera or saw pictures of it :sad2: but it was so amazing to see DD be in character! After the girls all left she told me that it was so much fun and she could do that all day but she was too short to do it for real! LOL

The two that stand out to me are:

2008 - While waiting in line to meet Mary Poppins at UK-Epcot, my DD was fidgety, shufflig her feet, etc. As she went to get her autograph, she was told "Don't you know I can see everything? Proper young ladies always stand straight and tall with their feet turned out just so." It's one of my favorite pictures because you can tell DD is laughing, but her posture has never been better :lmao:

2009 - DD was already in a bad mood b/c it was raining on our last day at MK. Thanks to the Disboards, I knew this was a great day to catch alot of the characters in the Exposition Hall.

As we turned, Pinocchio was standing there all alone. As we went up to talk, his CM was explaining that he was particularly lonely and was just saying he wished a little girl would come along. Then, through the CM, Pinocchio asked if DD had any brothers or sisters. When she answered no, he jumped up and down, twirled in circles and the CM told us he was so excited because he would now be DD's little brother! Even after the pictures, Pinocchio grabbed my hand and walked off with us until the CM explained that she didn't think it would be a good idea. Pinocchio definitely helped turn a dreary day into the start of one the best days we've ever had at MK! :goodvibes

We went this past March and ate at Cindy's Royal Table for dinner one night. When it was our turn to meet Cinderella she asked my SIL and her DBF where they were from. My SIL told her that they were from Georgia. Without skipping a beat Cinderella asked "And are you the prince and princess of Georgia?" To which my DSIL replied "Of course!". :goodvibes

At the same dinner Jasmine told us that we must have had a BIG magic carpet for all of us to ride on to get here! (since were 6 adults)

My favorite "character" to play with is the Mad Hatter. He is always a trip!

FYI ... they're over at Animal Kingdom now!
