Lessee ... what's been going on this week besides overwork for the soulless dominions of finance?
I have a breakfast interview scheduled with the bank that contacted me last week. This is someone who has tried to recruit me a couple of times in the last four years but I was never quite ready to leave my current employer. I'm not tremendously unhappy in my current role but I think this other opportunity may be a chance for me to actually move up - something that is all but impossible where I am now. And if it means I get to have a real voice in the development of credit policy / underwriting / risk management while getting paid some good money while doing it, then I've got to give it serious consideration. It's not often that opportunity knocks ... and in the case of this person, it's the third time he's knocked since late 2004.
Of course, I would have to negotiate ample vacation time so that Jay and I can feed our foodie habit, but I'll worry about that when the time comes.
Other news ... I had to rearrange our dining schedule for the end of this month when we're taking our staycation. Long story short ... I have to have a follow-up Endoscopic Ultrasound with a side order of needle biopsy. I had one two years ago when my GI found a tumor in the 'ol gut while he was looking for stomach ulcers. They like to make sure the tumor isn't getting bigger (how could it not with the amount of food I've been giving it?) or turning into something that we'd all rather not talk about. It's a submucosal tumor so it's not easy to remove and unless it has to be taken out they're going to leave it alone (that's why I always say I have a parasitic twin in my tummy ...

).
Was that more than everyone wanted to know?
I'll go back to food. Today I bought tickets to a special event being hosted by Opera Theater of St. Louis in June. Two hours before their performance of
Ghosts of Versailles, they're having a vodka cocktail mixing contest with munchies on the side. For $35 per person you get to sample all the food and booze you want up until the performance and tickets to the opera are included! We're not really opera people (unless no one is singing) but thought this would be a good, relatively affordable, boozy way to give it a try.
Very excited!
