Under event schedule, Party for the Senses I found this:
"This popular venue takes place each Saturday during the Food and Wine Festival at the World ShowPlace located between Canada and United Kingdom Pavilions. You’ll begin this memorable evening with reserved seating at the 5:45pm performance of the Eat to the Beat Concert. $135 per person plus tax, gratuity included. (Park admission included)
From 6:30 to 9:00pm, you’ll be sampling the culinary creations of 25 renowned chefs and over 25 wineries and breweries. Each tasting station will be a new sensation for the senses."

So kids, we know they aren't planning to do something like the Bocuse again the first weekend. And at at least we know the price.
Stay tuned Food and Wine fans!!:cool1::cool1:

Thank you - thank you -THANK YOU for this!
Made my morning .. now I have to catch up on the thread .. I am not getting updates?! :confused3

I can't believe how far behind I got :scared1: the joys of being without my laptop. It's now fixed :woohoo:

Brenda I love the Coach wristlet. We've got an outlet about 40 minutes from my house.

Rick took me to Morton's for my birthday. Fantastic meal, sorry I forgot the camera :sad2:

Sat in the bar before dinner watching the Sox game and drinking some Mer Soleil chardonney, very nice!

For dinner we shared a 48 ounce porterhouse :thumbsup2 It was HUGE!!! For sides we had asparagoose grilled with a balsamic glaze and lyonaisse potatoes.
Dessert was a chocolate souffle :cloud9: We shared a bottle of Sonoma Cutrer "Les Pierres" chardonney which was wonderful.

A wonderful evening, then we went dancing and had more wine at a local restaurant near the house.

The sommelier recommended these wines for us to try after talking with him for a bit.

Pernand Vergellies - white burgundy
Canella Prossecco

Has anyone tried these?

Thanks for the info! I wonder if there is any entertainment (other than Eat to the Beat) for PFTS. Boscuse d'Or only takes place every two years...so we can hold out hope that possibly it will return in 2010.

Thanks for sharing! I'm SO anxious for any food and wine news! :hyper:
I don't mean to be cynical (can't help it, really, it's in my nature :lmao: ) but does it strike anyone as unusual that this site doesn't have an "official" disney.com address? This is only my 2nd F&W so maybe that's normal? Thanks so much for sharing any and all F&W info!! :goodvibes

-------
Brenda - love your Coach purchase!

Have I ever shared my Sangria recipe with you fine people? Well, I say it's mine but it's just the one I use ... Emeril created the recipe. It's the best Sangria I've ever had or made ... I'll post a picture later but here's the recipe:

I'm definitely trying this one!:thumbsup2

Has anyone tried Skyy Pineapple vodka? I might not be refined enough for fancy wine but I sure do love that stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my Coach wristlet so much, I haven't carried a "whole purse" in about a year and a half. Who needs a purse large enough to carry a change of underware anymore!

I was wondering what happened to everyone, and then realized that I just hadn't received any email updates in days

Hi everybody! :goodvibes

I'll be sure to update the links later this weekend ... great pictures and reviews and happy belated birthday to Chelle's hubby!

We had a BBQ planned for this weekend before all this crazy flu stuff started up ... now we're calling it a When Pigs Fly Que. Pork and Chicken hot off the grill with a little beef thrown in for good measure.

I'm providing Sangria and Kahlua Coladas for homeopathic treatment. :lmao:

Honestly, I'm not trying to be insenstive because I do know how quickly the situation could become extremely serious, but as somone who's tooling around with four (at last count) auto-immune disorders and a tumor in her tummy ... I can't take anything too seriously. Besides, laughter is the best medicine, don't you think? After booze, that is. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the belated wishes, he had a wonderful bday. The Q party sounds awesome! Already copied the sangria recipe, can you post the Kahlua one?

Lessee ... what's been going on this week besides overwork for the soulless dominions of finance?

I have a breakfast interview scheduled with the bank that contacted me last week. This is someone who has tried to recruit me a couple of times in the last four years but I was never quite ready to leave my current employer. I'm not tremendously unhappy in my current role but I think this other opportunity may be a chance for me to actually move up - something that is all but impossible where I am now. And if it means I get to have a real voice in the development of credit policy / underwriting / risk management while getting paid some good money while doing it, then I've got to give it serious consideration. It's not often that opportunity knocks ... and in the case of this person, it's the third time he's knocked since late 2004. ;)

Of course, I would have to negotiate ample vacation time so that Jay and I can feed our foodie habit, but I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Other news ... I had to rearrange our dining schedule for the end of this month when we're taking our staycation. Long story short ... I have to have a follow-up Endoscopic Ultrasound with a side order of needle biopsy. I had one two years ago when my GI found a tumor in the 'ol gut while he was looking for stomach ulcers. They like to make sure the tumor isn't getting bigger (how could it not with the amount of food I've been giving it?) or turning into something that we'd all rather not talk about. It's a submucosal tumor so it's not easy to remove and unless it has to be taken out they're going to leave it alone (that's why I always say I have a parasitic twin in my tummy ... :lmao:).

Was that more than everyone wanted to know? :rotfl2:

I'll go back to food. Today I bought tickets to a special event being hosted by Opera Theater of St. Louis in June. Two hours before their performance of Ghosts of Versailles, they're having a vodka cocktail mixing contest with munchies on the side. For $35 per person you get to sample all the food and booze you want up until the performance and tickets to the opera are included! We're not really opera people (unless no one is singing) but thought this would be a good, relatively affordable, boozy way to give it a try.

Very excited!
Yikes!!! On the health stuff  Good luck with the interview!!! I'd skip the opera and stick with the vodka cocktails!

Well, considdering I was SUPPOSED to be meeting everyone from the PC repo cruise at WDW this weekend... (my project has been delayed by 2 freaking bank holidays overseas...)

& I had a super big fight with my boss/boyfriend last night

& I'm going through withdrawal because I thought for sure by now I'd be eating dinner at Ghiardelli (I can't do peanut butter so I'm not tempted yet by the No way...)

Hey... I'm fine...

I'm in Scotia - Right off of Rt. 50 not far from the Schenectady airport... (the C130's from the 109th buzz my house all the time...)

When were you in Saratoga? The city really has taken off the last few years... and I am sorry to say that Marylou has canceled her charity ball this year and I'm SO bummed... I thought that THIS was my year to get invited... :rotfl:

Jon was stationed at NPTU Ballston Spa from Dec 90-Jan 94, so I was there from July 91-Jan 94, it's been a long time now :rolleyes1 DD was born at Bellevue Women's Hospital in Niskayuna, we moved when she was 3mths old and she's 15 1/2 now

Our 1st apartment was by the harness track and then we moved over to Navy Housing which was right off Rt 9. That's why I love owning SSR, it really is like being back there but without the snow :thumbsup2

I know exactly where you were living!!!

The city has had quite a renaisance... Mary Lou Whitney had alot to do with it.

Planky did part of his still unfinished trip report from there... I'll look tonight to see where SS starts for you to see...

I know that I wasn't part of the conversation, but I thought I'd join in anyway! I live in Schenectady and my husband works on the 109th! Sorry about the C130's! :rotfl:

It's such a small world! :)

I sure fall behind on this thread alot... I love the new Coach purse. And, the Sangria recipe looks like a keeper too. I was looking for one the other day...

Anyways... we are going to Portland soon! Just for a few days... anyone have any recommendations for restaurants. Everything I'm reading says it is has a lot of bakeries...

We heard of Original Halibut's and we have reservations at Salty's on the Columbia River. http://www.saltys.com/

So I was wondering if anyone else had any not to miss places to eat at. And, I'll take lots of food pictures for you all....

Tina

My aunt by marriage lives in Schnenectady and her husband works at the university.

I wish I could help you Tina, but I've never been to Portland ... or anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. Have a great trip, eat wonderful food, and take lots of pictures!

Hey jump in anytime!!!

Ohhh don't get me wrong.. I LOVE the C130's... we watch them all the time. I love it when you're in the Walmart parking lot and you look up and all of a sudden you're looking at the bottom of a airplane!!! and I love that they do such incredible work such as Antarctica... nobody else gets to claim THAT one!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: (as a matter of fact they should be flying over tonight in about an hour - I think they are training for night missions...) Wait... I hear one... :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

So I guess I don't live in the middle of nowhere like my family in Jersey claims... :confused3

Tina

We have flown into Portland several times on the way to the coast, but never stayed there long enough to eat anywhere but McDonald's! Sorry. If you were going on toward the beaches I could help more maybe....
