Having never been in a BCV studio before I was checking and can get the studio for my dates as well as a regular standard room at the BC. They ended up being the same price with the AP discount so now I am wondering which to stay in? I do sorta like being in the BC walking through the lobby and all - will I miss that? but then it's an opportunity to try something new? help! All replies appreciated :mickeybar

The studio has the littel mini kitchen, mic, fridge, sink, coffee pot..so if you can use any of those..go with the studio. The only downside is, if there are more than two of you..someone has to sleep on a sofa bed rather than a regular bed.

I had the same choice to pick from, and we ended up chosing the Beach Club villa (studio). There are 3 of us, and while one person will be on a sofa bed, the room (so I hear) is a little bit bigger and as you said, it is nice to try something new. Umm...you will check in at the Beach Club lobby, but you won't see it as much as you would if you were staying in a regular room, at least that's how I understand it. Unless you walk over there just to see it.

You use the same lobby--but the studio is in a different (but very close) building. You actually walk through some very nice areas to get to the villas, and they have their own quiet pool/hot tub.

The studio rooms are a little bigger. They have a kitchenette with a small fridge, toaster, microwave, sink, coffee pot, and a small cabinet to keep some groceries in. The room has a queen bed and a queen sofa bed. I find it nice to have a sofa to sit on during the day instead of sitting on the bed. allearsnet.com has some pictures of both rooms so you can see and decide for yourself.

We always stay in the villas.

I had the same decision as the OP a few weeks back. I have read many threads, and seen many pictures. I for one do not believe that a studio at BCV is larger than a standard room at the BC (I believe the opposite is true). Other DVC resorts seem to have slightly larger studios than the BCV. People have quoted square footage and you will get a million different answers. Just look at the pictures, the studios at the BCVillas look tiny. Additionally, if view is important to you, there are no really good views at the Villas (they range from horrible to OK) because it is really a wing of the BC that wasnt originally designed as part of the property. There is a service road that is adjacent to Epcot side of the resort that buses and cars drive by. Being able to sit on the balcony in a place that transports you is a big factor for us.

I went even a little more nuts with my decision for honeymoon, I chose a Water View BC room over a 1bedroom at the Villas after much deliberation (just me and wife though) because of wanting to be smack dab in the resort and the view, plus we no use for a kitchen and washing machine while on vacation.

I would say stay in a studio only if you need the kitchenette area ...

On disneypix.com they quote room size as follows:

BC Standard - 380 sq feet
BCV studio - 356 sq feet

There you have it.
Good luck, you will have fun no matter which place you choose.

Being a DVC Member I'm probably not doing my neighbors justice but:

- The Studio rooms are a tad smaller, but they do have the kitchenette w/ wet bar.

- The Studio room has only 1 Queen Size bed and a sleeper sofa. This probably
makes the studio "feel" a bit bigger than the regular room.

- The Villas area tends to be a bit quieter than the main resort, and the quiet pool is
not that crowded.

- Views at the villas aren't the greatest, but there are nice ones available. Don't let
the posts regarding the Service Road rooms bug you, the noise isn't all that some
make it out to be. Remember there are some "clunker" views at the BC as well.

- Villa rooms all have balconies that you can sit out on (except 1st floor of course)
while some BC rooms have a balcony that is strictly there for aesthetics and nothing
more.

- The Villa Studio will have a bit longer walk to SAB than most BC rooms, but it's not
all that bad.

If money might figure into your calculations, don't forget you can rent DVC points which will make a studio significantly cheaper than a BC room. I too have an AP, but this past May and again in December I'll be renting DVC points. The only reason I didn't for my Sept trip is that we got the free dining which we couldn't get and rent DVC points.
