BCV - so disappointed!

I'm not sure that we should. Requests are requests with DVC. Booking categories (like the 2 Bedroom issue Jen ran into) are a different kettle of fish, but everything going on here is not being happy not having requests met.

DVC operates at high occupancy. Most times of the year, someone is going to have to be in a less desirable room. A tree will block their view, it will be on the "wrong" floor, it will be a HA room for a family that doesn't need it, it may be the balcony-less room at VWL or the rooms that face other rooms at BWVs.

All of us members (and some renters) visit DVC over and over again. When someone else consistently turns down undesirable rooms, that means other members are more likely to get them. I don't think that is behavior that is best for the DVC "community." It takes staff time, which impacts us all in terms of dues, and it creates an unfair room situation for other members who are willing to stay in less desirable rooms.

I'm not saying anyone should accept dirty rooms, or rooms obviously in need of major maintenance. But turning down a room because of location is not acceptable to me. She should have been charged the room change fee for every one of those switches - that is what it is there for - to compensate for cleaning and administrative costs in switching rooms.

I totally agree! There was no mention of the room change fee by the OP, so I'm guessing it was not charged. I don't think a charge should be made if the room is dirty or has a major maintenance issue or something else that makes it unihabitable, but those little "niggling" "requests" not met do need to trigger a fee.

Yep! A room in need of cleaning or not getting the bed arrangement you reserved is not the same as the floor you are on.

Well...

One of the things I REALLY believe is that you have to make "magic"

...text deleted...

I think one thing DVC members tend to do is "expect" Magic to be given to us. I expect to "give" Magic to others. That's why I have been giving away my trading pins to kids for example. If I make "magic" it seems to multiply. If I spend my vacation FUMING about the manger at CSR I can gurantee EVERYTHING else will be bad on that stay.

Now I think OP is truly entitled to thier view and IF it's going to "ruin the magic" from here on out then they really do have to sell. It's that simple. For me that wouldn't but I know that I tend to be able to let go of things like that... I figure if I don't like the room this time next time I will get a better one...

I agree with CarolA on this one. Wouldn't things be amazing if everyone had this attitude?!!!?!!! I can only imagine how magical the experience would be.

I can't imagine ever asking for a room change, but then I guess I am not very aggressive that way. I've never been in a room I really disliked. I thought I would dislike the ground floor room we had last time, but after trying it, I really liked it very much. We could scoot right out the patio doors and go to the pool. You could see our room from the pool, so there were no security issues with leaving the sliding door unlocked. It was great.

Well, it's off to AKV on Sunday, followed by a week at OKW. It's my first trip to both places and I can't wait!!!! I have no special requests for either resort and I am sure it will "magically" turn out just fine. :yay:

I am sorry you had a bad expercience - I know once something starts bad it can snowball and you start noticing every little thing that would not have been a bother. I can't imagine vacationing with anyone for 19 days straight especially in small quarters with the stress of Disney - Let's face it as Magical as it is most could use a vacation when they leave :)

Ok I know this is off topic a little but I am getting nervous reading about BCV - I have never been in them before and am heading there in Nov. (1bedroom with 2A and DD2 and DS7. I stayed in a 1 bedroom at BWV 3 years ago and loved it. The only (I guess I would say inconvenience) if it is one was the long walk to anywhere from the room if you forgot something but it was never a big deal to me. Can anyone tell me is there something I should request at BCV, should I be worried, any tips. I am not worried about unpacking because I have been in bigger rooms with just my hubby and make a mess:laughing: I am concerned about cleanliness etc. I also bought my points from my sister who is a DVCer does that make a difference once I am there bc I am not a DVCer? Any tips thoughts would be great. Thanks

...I am getting nervous reading about BCV...

We were there in July for 8 nights. Great trip. We really liked BCV and everything about it and everything around it.

:thumbsup2

However, we had 2 adults and a 12 year old in a 2 bedroom villa.

I could not imagine a 19 day studio vacation with (3) adults anywhere, anytime.
:lmao:

I think Crisi is on target here. As a parent of young children, I would be more concerned about a handicapped room than a room on the ground floor (which actually, I think I would LOVE). The knobs on the stove are low and while mine are older now, when they were younger, we used to have to remember to take the knobs off if we were assigned a HA room.

As to the storage issue - my gripe about HA rooms and the storage/shelves is this....don't handicapped people need just as much "stuff" as I do? I am not being insulting. I am actually saying that I think that it is a shame that in making a room accessable, all of the functional shelving and storage space is removed. Last time I checked, it takes the same amount of soaps, shampoos, toothpaste and toothbrushes, hair brushes, makeup, etc etc etc....you get the picture - no matter if you are HA or not. Same for clothing. The people that plan these rooms need to think outside the box a little bit and figure out how to make these rooms equalivent to other rooms as they are NOT in my view. We did finally purchase a plastic over the door shoe holder which we keep flat in our luggage in case we get an HA room. This allows us somewhere to keep our bathroom items since the tiny ledge in most barely holds a toothbrush.

I dont want a HA room because of the reasons mentioned here, nor do I think that people that need a HA room should have to settle for a room that doesn't meet all the comfort needs any person requires.

It made us quite sad as we love our Disney home but are now considering selling our points.

Good luck with your decision, good luck with the sale of your points if that's the road you take.

I'm sorry you had what apparently was a bad experience for you.

Personally, I know that I could not handle that many days in a studio even if everything was perfect.

I would stay for a shorter period of time in a 1 bedroom, but that's just me and you're certainly entitled to use your points in whatever way you choose.

Hope your next trip, if there is a next trip, is better for you.

19 days in a studio:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: 3 nights without the washer and dryer is my max!

Don't tolerate being treated like a second class citizen by the CM's that can't meet your expectations. GET OUT - SELL NOW!!!
:rotfl2:

Let's be real here...the OP is likely the personality type that is often not satisfied. We've all been around poor CM's that have had to deal with that type before. It's so sad!

I'm actually a little stunned that the OP was offered four rooms simply based on whether s/he liked them.

Last year we spent a week in a studio at BCV without a working toilet; complaints to the front desk and requests to be relocated did not meet with success (clearly, I did not complain loudly enough, or apparently to the right people). Maintenance spent a lot of time in our room fiddling with the toilet, and we spent the week using the restrooms down in the first floor lobby of the Villas. We should not have had to do that.

If it ever happens again, and I can't get proper help at the desk, and I can't get my DVC rep on the phone, my strategy is to drive on over to SSR and talk about this in the "tourist lobby". I feel certain some nice CM over there will work hard to find me a room where the toilet is functional, rather than have prospective buyers worry about their investment.

That said, I'd never ask to be moved because I didn't like the view.

Now YOURS is a legitimate complaint! I like your style about your solution should it happen again!

OH MY GOODNESS:scared1::scared1: That would not work for me AT ALL! You are more patient than I am!

I wonder if you were in 228?

We were there last Christmas and the toilet didn't flush, maintenance came up and said they fixed it. We used it and it didn't work.We also went down stairs over night to go in the lobby.

In the morning, DH went to the CM's in the lobby and demanded to talk to the Housekeeping manager. We were paying cash our first night and she credited us half of the nights stay. I think it should have been 100% later after I thought about it but we were not looking for anything but a fixed toilet.

228 is also a HA room and it has no shelves or closet space. It was the only room available when we checked in. They told us we could move after two days but who wants to unpack and repack to unpack and repack??? So we stayed in it but we wondered why they ( the powers that be ) didn't think guests with accessibility issues need storage space.

Ground floor rooms can be as safe as a balcony room, its called parental supervison, without that, all rooms can be dangerous.

If you truly expect DVC to meet your every request; then yes you will be better off to sell, as they are not going to be able to make you happy.

Harsh maybe, truth, definitely.

Good luck with your decision.

Haha, I was thinking that ground floor is MUCH safer than a balcony. Number of kids hurt/missing from being abducted from their ground floor patie vs number of kids that fall of a balcony.....taking into consideration that neither are very likely if you have parental supervision (even the most basic leave the door open and curtain pulled so you can hear/see them.

Or a working toilet!!!!!

.[/QUOTE]

Funny OP worried about being on ground floor DW and I love upper floors but often comment that once we have grand children we will get a ground level. It's nice for the kids to be able to run a little. If they're going to be outside alone there are bigger problems than what floor your on.
Let us know when the points go up for sale BCV are in short supply, maybe I need another ADD ON

I am a BCV owner. 3 adults and a child would be WAY more comfortable in a 1BR, even if it was for fewer days. In other words, 15 days in a 1 BR would be a much happier vacation that 21 days straight squished in a studio. Just sayin'.

Good luck to you!
