I think there next step should be in the direction similar to the cabins and go below the deluxe line. Every new resort has been at the deluxe level lately and I think its time to capitalize on the moderates. Build another larger moderate resort and mix in
DVC and non. Maybe put a 'premium offering' (like the bungalows, the tree houses and the like) along the edge of the resort property as an extra.
If there was a moderate DVC, would it not get deluxe hotel perks (mostly EEH)? Would the primary DVC resort owners be able to trade into it? I would be worried that any new rooms with lower
point charts would be extremely hard to book (I'll call this the BWV Standard/AKV Value effect, where they get snapped up for maximum rental value), but maybe it would also help take pressure off those rooms, which would be a win for me personally.
It might make more sense for Disney to sell the points at lower pricing instead of making the
point chart very low. Higher point chart means lower dues per point, and as long as you have a handful of base model rooms, you can still pitch it as "stay for a week for less than 150 points!" I think this is basically what they did with Poly Tower-- except they aren't selling the points cheap! But you can imagine how it would be appealing to say "You can by Poly right on the monorail at $225/pt, BWV2 at $230/pt, VDH at $235, AUL at $200, or you can get LSL at $170/pt!" Of course, think we all doubt that Disney is doing a big hotel build just to get $170/pt.
I'd be willing to bet some families who have turned down DVC up until now would be more willing to bite on a moderate level and having more moderate offerings will I think net more stay's in general and would probably sell well. I also want to see them have fun with the theming, something that screams Disney and gets people excited to stay there.
I do think fun theming is something Disney did very well insde the CFW cabins. My kids are clamoring to stay there.
I’ve kinda resigned myself to the idea a fifth gate won’t come in time for me to enjoy it. More likely only see the other 4 parks expanded. I would love to see a 5th gate though! And a skyliner expansion.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I would much rather get a land expansion in each of the existing parks than a 5th gate UNLESS it was DisneySea or some other compelling cohesive theming. AK is not going to be a full day park even after it gets Tropical Americas, and EPCOT needs at least 2 more good rides (well, maybe only 1 with TT back up?). I'd say the same for DHS, but it is getting Monstropolis and it recently got SWGE.
