Is there anywhere to practice throwing baseball on the ship? What about any other sports that fathers may can do with kids?pirate:

Don't think that tossing a ball around on the ship is a good idea. To many bystanders to get hit. If the child is young (7 and under) you could toss a ball on the sports deck - it's just not very big.

Basketball on the sports deck. They sometimes have a hockey goal set up and you can take shots at the goal. Sometimes there's volleyball going on up there (but it's usually with the teenagers). Finally there is ping pong on deck 9 and on deck 4 there is shuffleboard.

If you can pull yourself away from the beach on Castaway Cay, there is Groupers Game Room. It's just past the far end of the family beach, just a few steps past the tram loading point for Serenity Bay. They have foos ball, ping pong among other games. Also, shuffle board is much, much easier here. On the ship the shuffleboard court is on the walking deck on deck 4 and therefor has anti slip strips on it. It's really, really hard to send the shuttle from one end of the court to the other.

We brought a tennis ball so that I could practice throwing and catching with my son. We did this in the basketball court area/hockey area when people weren't around. Also, you could do this at many of the beaches, if you stayed away from people.

We also played ping pong, shuffle board, basketball and soccer which were all mentioned in the previous reply.

The basketball court can get crowded at times, but most people are just shooting and have no problem if you want to join in.

Do you have to bring your own basketball or does disney provide one?

Disney has the equipment (basketballs, volleyballs) for you. But I really don't know where to go to get them if they are not on the court. They were always available when I went up to the sports court.

We took a baseball and gloves and never got around to using them. My son plays High School baseball and wanted to get his arm in shape. Don't think I'd do it on board, but there were plenty of chances and places to do it in port and on Castaway Cay. Our only beef, which I have voiced before, it that the workout room is closed to kids, except for 1 hour on 2 days, and ONLY if your child is in the club. There is NO family time with the equipment, that's something Disney needs to change.

Just reading this post make me nervous. I just imagine running to catch one of my daughters wild pitches--going, going, ooops, splash!:hyper:

It happens....DCL has nets partially over the sports deck area....but wind on the high seas can take a ball overboard....I've seen it happen with a bastketball and a vollyball.....and my sons baseball cap!!!! Poor guy was walking along Deck 10 and whew....gone into the deep blue sea!!!
