I'm not asking for too much advice! :rotfl:

I'm investigating whether we actually need the min 160 points via DVC or whether we can get by with less points and go via resale.

We've already gone in 2009, and hope to sign onto DVC this year. We would bank whatever points for 2009 into 2010 as my H has no vacation time left.

So if I purchase resale that has not used any 2009 points, I would in essence have double the amount for 2010, right? And then if I don't use all the points, I can bank that into 2011?

I think I remember reading somewhere where someone had used points from 3 years- banking, say 2009, getting all of 2010 and borrowing from 2011. Is this possible??

And for the first few years, I really don't see us needing anything bigger than a studio as we will most likely be in the parks mostly. and hopefully in a few years we can purchase more points so we can get accomodations with more room, when it is needed.

Yes, if you bought a resale contract with all of its 2009 points, you can bank them into 2010 and have two years worth of points. Any of the 2010 points not used could then be banked into 2011.

You can get up to 3 years of points by doing exactly as you said, using banked, "current year" and the next year's points.

If getting the 160 is not something you think you need, then I would definitely look into getting a smaller contract via resale. Remember, you can always add on more points through Disney if you buy, say 100, and realize in a few years that you are constantly short each year.

Good luck!!!

I would buy a smaller resale and add-on if needed. I wish I would have broken my 250 points into smaller amounts. I could then sell some now and buy into GCV.

I'm looking at the charts, and although I'm sure the points will change over time, it would seem that 120 would be the sweet spot for our needs.

That's great! Now to keep your eye out for a contract that fits your needs. If you contact the resale brokers out there, they will send you daily lists of the contracts for sale.

I have also heard that some, if you tell them what you are looking for, will contact you if one comes into the office, before it is even put up on the website.

Good luck!!!
