Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Currently staying in the Island Tower and we love it so much we wanted to book a return trip for next year. I was looking on disneys website and there is absolutely no villa availability here. Does anyone know why? Is it really already all booked a year out? We were looking for a ten day spread at some point between late October through December. We booked this room in November so I’m just surprised! Are they just holding the rooms back still because it’s so far out?
Because it’s DVC, rooms won’t usually be offered until 11 months prior to check in, and oftentimes Disney waits even longer than that. Check again about 11 months before your desired dates, then keep checking until availability shows up.

What room type are you looking for? Just randomly plugging in similar searches November and December and plenty of the Tower Studio and Duo Studios show up for cash bookings for me. Not so much other room types.

The 11-month thing is correct for 'sold out' resorts but for resorts still selling (Poly, Riv, FW Cabins for example), Disney will offer cash inventory prior to that. For example, that’s why I can book a Duo now for next NYE. Behind the scenes when resorts are still in initial points sales they are managing projected sales - when resorts are still in early stages of selling points they can offer a lot of cash availability, less so as they get closer to selling out/own less points to offer for cash bookings - so what we see on the cash availability side is the result of whatever projections/assumptions they are using. I can't remember what the current estimate is for Poly sellout, but it's probably not too terribly far off - which likely explains the limited cash room types I’m seeing. Eventually cash availability at 11 months will be limited to the small portion of points Disney retains ownership of and their breakage estimates. Cash availability can also later be added from various other DVC mechanisms at points closer to the check in date.

Long term since PIT seems relatively popular among the DVC crowd, I suspect cash availability won’t be all that abundant, on average.

Random question anyone know what kind of vacuum cleaner you get at PIT? Photos would be even better.

Just thinking about what kind of vacuum storage bags to buy, cause some have a manual option instead

We’ve always used the manual, rollup vacuum storage bags so that we didn’t have to be concerned about having a vacuum cleaner. For that reason, though, we use them for dirty clothes, not for clean ones that we need to keep unwrinkled!

We are 2 adults and will be 4 kids so unfortunately will need at least a 1 bedroom if not a 2 bedroom. I wonder if that’s why we were able to book a last minute trip over Christmas week in early November!

I booked a 2BR Villa at the Tower this past summer for check in on 11/30/25.

A party of 6 will require a 2BR in the Tower, unless one of the kids is under 2 and sleeps in a crib, so that’s the size villa you need to watch for. As @GADisneyDad14 explained above, with Poly being in active sales DVC is managing its cash inventory carefully, so that when they sell someone points there and that person wants a 2BR next October-December, it’s available for them to book it. They’re trying to give new owners priority, I suspect.

Thanks that makes sense! We will have two under 2 for this trip so will be able to squeak by with a 1 bedroom again :)
