I guess I'll go ahead and start on the
MNSSHP/Jill's birthday trip. Jill can write a fabulous ending to the summer trip if she ever gets time, but if not, well, I'll give you a hint:
it really did end and we really did come home.
And we really did decide to go back. Before Christmas.
So, with the very logical reasons that Jill's birthday was on a Friday AND we'd never been to Mickey's Halloween Party AND I could take a couple of sick days with the complete approval of my assistant principal, we planned this trip. The plan was to leave right after school, drive to Perry, GA, sleep a few hours, and head out early to finish the trip. There was a glitch - my principal calling a faculty meeting - but then at the last minute it got unglitched, so I got lucky. It got changed to Thursday, so gosh darn it, I missed it. Hate that.
We got to Perry at a reasonable hour. We were back on the road about 4:30 or not much after. We only had a few short days, so sleep was not an immediate priority.
We had decided to stay at All-Star Sports, because Jill had never stayed there before. Check in was about average. We settled in, got Brooklynn's costume ready, and headed to the bus stop.
We did see several lovebugs flying around and crawling on the poles, but that initial sighting ended up being the worst we saw of them. We saw a few again at POR bus stop later in the trip, but none in any of the parks at any time.
I've never been as excited about a Halloween party in my whole half century of life! I had seen the pictures others had put on the boards of all the autumn decor on Main Street, and I was sold. I really had to see it in person!
It is just what I thought it would be...and more.
We were once again in our happiest place, and neither Jill nor I could really yet believe it.
As we had first come in, we saw Mary Poppins and Bert greeting some friends.
Look at the smiles on those faces. They were so happy we were there!
The balloons. Not the people. They couldn't have cared less that we were there.
This was what was happening at the castle.
That is how I was feeling inside, too!
The first order of business was to eat, so we headed here
and ordered this.
We could easily have shared. We didn't realize how big the portions were. We thought the water cups were pretty cute, and they got us even more in the spirit for the Halloween evening ahead.
Next, we were off to somewhere very scary. Or at least Stitch was thinking so!
