The last morning of the trip inevitably did come. No matter how many times I tried to back the calendar up, it was time to go. No matter how tightly I tried to shut my eyes and not wake up to the new day, the last day, it was there.
Jill, John, and Brooklynn went back to Animal Kingdom for one last safari ride and to get something she had wanted to pick up but had never gotten back to.
I spent the morning getting things all packed up and taking a few last pictures around Pop Century. Trent, Kristi, Drew, and Sam slept in a bit, which was good, since they had a long day of driving ahead of them.
The refrigerators were cleaned out from the night before, and now it was time to box them up and leave them for the next lucky recipient.
When Jill and John returned, everyone helped to load the cars and make the last sweeps to check and double check the rooms.
We said good-bye to Pop in a drizzling rain.
We had one last little bit of Disney left, as we had decided to go to Caribbean Beach to have lunch on our way out. Jill and John have stayed there, but I never had, so I wanted to check it out. It continued to rain, so that helped make the leaving a little easier.
We shopped around the gift shop trying to find something for Kristi to take to her mom.
We ate in the food court, everyone getting different things. I got a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, and Trent and Kristi both got pizza. I can't remember what the others got. I'm thinking burgers and chicken.
Can you believe we have a picture of Drew and Sam with us?
We took a couple of pictures, but it was still raining, so we didn't roam the grounds like I wanted to.
After that, we could deny it no longer. It was truly time to go. We had a long, long drive ahead in the rain, and we had to get started on that.
It had been a fantastic ten days, much needed by all of us. We had many good memories and probably seven or eight hundred pictures to remember them by.
Jill and I knew we would be back at Christmas, so that also helped lessen the sadness of leaving.
But little did we know at the time...
we'd be back much sooner than we thought!!!
Jill might want to add some safari pics from the last day, and she'll certainly want to make a closing comment, but when she's finished, don't leave us! Stick around for the further adventures of Baby, not with Tramp this time, however. Not sure what we'll subtitle this next section as, but we'll come up with something.
If there is anybody left who is not over at UtahMama's place reading her craziness, maybe they'll stumble upon ours. She's just too good to even try to compete with, and we hope to have the pleasure of meeting her someday.
Jill and I talked about how fun it would be to have a meet with all the people that you just become so at home with through these reports, and one day some of our trips are bound to overlap so that can happen. When we met 5boyz and family, it was just so easy to stand there and talk with them as if we knew them. I think I'd feel that way with so many of you. Our trips just missed several of you last time, and we'll miss Gmax by a couple of weeks in December. Maybe we should plan a big 2010 meet!
Stay with us, if you can, for the continuing adventures of our crew. Thanks for everyone who stayed along on the ride, and especially to those who commented. It really helps to keep on writing and loading pictures and stuff if you know there is someone out there in the world really enjoying it.
After Jill does her last day comments, we'll get ready to start up with the Halloween/birthday trip. I'm headed out to Walgreens to pick up 121 pictures to take to school tomorrow. I've got nearly every teacher at school ready to book a trip! They all want more pictures, and I'm happy to oblige. Of course, I may be making my Disney lines longer and longer with my recruiting tactics. Maybe I should just keep it our little secret.
