Hi, we normally fly with Virgin, this year we are flying with BA. I'm curious what the food is like in economy can anyone enlighten me :flower:

cal :)

Airline food in economy is six and half a dozen. When are you going? I'm flying on Tuesday and will let you know what they serve up. Normally it's the usual "chicken or beef?" something or other, a stale roll and some sort of dessert.

As terrible as all other airlines. Guarantee there'll be a bread roll.

It is as bad as the other airline's food

Unless you fly first/business you'll have the same kind of meals as any other airline

Some reviews

Thank you. I swore last summer I would never fly BA again, but got a flight last week for £360. Shortest countdown ever, and at that price, too good an opportunity to pass up. I usually eat before I fly and enjoy some wine on the flight, but I will pay attention to what they serve this round and let you know. :)

If you like fruit one of the special meal requests was a fruit plate and it was really good :thumbsup2

To answer the second part, we flew last October, and I was impressed with the film selection. Decent films, up to date.

You can get a current list here.

My husband just flew to Washington last wk for work ( lucky git) and said the food was much improved over when we flew with them a few years back, and so was the entertainment! The only thing he said was crap, was the breakfast he received on the way back, he said it was a very dry roll with a yoghurt.lol

I've always enjoyed the hot food on my BA flights. The service isn't great in economy, and the cabins definitely need an serious update, but the hot food has always been surprisingly decent for what it is. I wish they would swap the meal order round on the overnight return flight. Being fed a curry at 10pm Florida time was a bit crazy. I'd sooner have a cold meal after take off and a hot breakfast in the morning!

We found the food ok, hardly gourmet but then you get what you pay for I guess!

The only issue we had was as we about half way back they ran out of chicken so we had a choice of cottage pie or cottage pie! Lol

As for the films, was very impressed!! Majority of the films had just finished at the cinema, so very current

As promised (and I'm so darn impressed that I remembered to come back to this thread ;) )

BA2037 LGW-MCO on Tuesday:

Chicken Tagliatelle
Sweet Honey chicken
Sausage and Mash

Those were the economy options. Dessert seemed a standard chocolate mousse with caramel or something in the base. The lady beside me said it was good. She and her husband both had the honey chicken and said it was terribly greasy and didn't eat much of it. Guy across the aisle had sausage and mash and pretty much cleaned his plate so either it was good or he needed something to line his stomach for the booze. I didn't see anyone with the pasta option so I can't even report what it looked like. I brought my own snacks and things with me so I was only interested in the wine :teeth:

About 90 minutes before landing they brought chicken mayo sandwiches around and offered coffee and soft drinks with them. They looked fresh enough and most folk around me ate all of it. I think there was a chocolate or something in the pack too, but didn't see what.

Anyway, hope that helps. I am going to order a special meal for the return purely out of curiosity. I will randomly select a category and report back on the return next week.

Get the fruit - it's 3 courses of just fruit lol

So here's last night's meals on the BA flight from MCO to LGW:

Two options for hot food:

Cottage Pie
Pasta (seemed to be vegetarian, unless there was some elusive chicken or something in it).

I didn't see what the desserts were. Breakfast was a croissant with something in it and a fruit bowl, cup of Orange juice and some sort of granola or snack bar, I think. Complete absence of coffee on the entire flight! The good news is that the flight was barely half full so I had a row to myself and spread out and slept the entire way home, once I'd tanked my two glasses of wine. The crew were very attentive, both ways and the onboard service was very good.

Also, while doing BA reviews, and not food related, my suitcase was damaged on the inbound. When i say damaged, I mean it was literally being held together by the luggage strap and I had a spare strap in my cabin back which I extended cross ways to hold it together or I would not have been able to move it. It literally fell apart when we got to the house. I called them and they sorted out the claim within hours. Very good service. Hopefully nobody else deals with that, and it may not have been the airline who damaged the bag, but after the nightmare flights we had with them last summer, it is nice to be able to give them a good review :)

2Tiggies a whole row to yourself. How fabulous! How long till you take your one way flights and stay for good? :)
