Aug 23, 2007 - 3 Night Wonder

I guess with our cruise getting closer to when the kids go back to school, it's less booked because of that?

We're lucky here in school doesn't start until after Labor Day so we get in the 3 day and a week at WDW afterwards during the value season (and free dining  ).

You're right - the start of school is probably the reason, though the Aug 30th sailing has less availability than ours. Hmmmm. Hey, maybe we'll be lucky and the ship won't be packed.

Hello all

I will be joining you on this cruise. I don't have a room as yet. I booked a Cat 11 guaranteed. I'll let them surprise me with whatever. I like the inside rooms, as I sleep good at night with no light coming in.

I am on early dining

I haven't read the past posts as yet but I'll catch up w/in the next day or so.

Is there anyone from the WPB or Ft. Lauderdale on this cruise???

:welcome:

Great to have you with us. Its starting to get really close now.

I am so looking forward to this.. :beach: on the cruise.

Here's hoping you get a great room on the Wonder.

I am really excited...our cruise is almost here!

Since this will be my first cruise I was wondering if anyone had tips or suggestions on what to bring on the cruise...things a first time cruiser might not know about.

A lighted travel alarm clock. There is a clock in the cabin but you can't see it at night.

Hats to wear at Nassau and Castaway Cay - that sun can be brutal walking around.

A sweater to bring along for the restaurants/Walt Disney theater. Sometimes the restaurants can be chilly. The Walt Disney theater can be downright frigid....especially if you watch a movie in there.

Silly pirate stuff for wear on pirate night - my kids loved wearing eye patches, etc. Nothing too fancy but when else can everyone dress like pirates.

Clothes pins to hang wet bathing suits, etc in your bathroom or out on the verandah.

For me....an extension cord - the electrical outlet is not close to the bathroom so if you need to use things in the bathroom (hair dryer/curling iron) then you'll need one.

Charge the tips to your onboard account because you get a receipt that has the full name of your servers and stateroom host and its a nice keepsake.

That's all I can think of now.....

NOT SURE IF I asked this previously.

Is anyone on main dining??

Would anyone like to link dining together??

Is main dining early or late? I find that term so confusing. We're late dining.

main dining is the early dining - starting at 5:30 and 5:45

and

late is the late dining - starting at 8:00 and 8:15

the dining is staggered so that everyone doesn't come in at the same time in all the dining rooms

Does anyone want to link up for the early dining hour???? I'll be happy to link those up who would like to do that

We're on main dining, but dining with a 5 year old is probably not what you're looking for, lol. I'm just keeping my fx that he'll behave through each dinner and that I can actually enjoy some of the food.

I think we all know that most everyone will have children on the cruise. I am sure he will behave great.

I took my 3 yo great niece on an 11 day last September and she was wonderful each dinner time.

I think you'll be surprised how he behaves.

This an awesome list. Thanks for the info.

This is our first cruise ever...other than across the Delaware! have been to Disney many, many times, but this is the first cruise. (and it's a surprise for my wife, so shhhhh! :) )

We'll be in WDW for a week prior with the kids (17, 20, and 23) and then on the Wonder just the two of us... no kids, so we're dining late!

any info you can give will be most helpful!

I am cruising alone this time - never before been by myself.

I am w/o hubby, children or relatives. Can't believe I actually booked alone.

But I'll have a great time anyways.

I have the early dining, which is main dining.

Good for you!! I've been thinking about a solo trip to WDW next year but I bet a solo cruise would be a lot of fun too. :)

My DS was tubing down the Delaware yesterday. Got quite the sunburn but had a blast.

Here's my advice for first time DCL people......go to the sailaway party and bring the video camera and record it. There are some really good youtube videos of the sailaway parties but nothing does justice to hearing the horn sounding for the first time. Its worth recording. On the downside, DCL did away with the live band for the sailaway party on the Wonder and now has a DJ. The stage looks so empty without a live band.

Go to the shows. We're late dinner, too, so you'll see the 6pm show first then eat. Hercules will be replaced next spring on the Wonder so see Hercules before its gone.

You can order multiple appetizers and entres and not to viewed as a glutton. Here's why....say you want to eat the chicken dish but prefer the side vegetables with the beef dish. Order both dishes - I have done that and pick out what you want to eat.

If you want to get to the pirate party on time then don't eat dessert at dinner that night. We have yet to make a pirate party on time. There is a massive buffet/dessert table after the pirate party.

You don't need to physically go to the debarkation talk. Its video taped and played on one of the TV channels all night long in a loop. Just watch it in your room to get the info. On my last cruise the cruise director joked that if you have trouble falling asleep just put that channel on.

Someone posted the latest 3-night navigators on wdwinfo.com. Go and print them out to get an idea of which day has which activities. We're big bingo fans so you'll find us at bingo.

The CMs are all very friendly and really enjoy if you stop and talk with them.

WOW! Thanks for all the info. I'm gonna check out the navigators and Youtube videos.
BTW how do you get the Ticker on the post? I tried but it shows as a link when I preview the post...party:

FIVE WEEKS NOW!!!!!

Well, I got crappy news yesterday. Three weeks ago I fractured a toe in my left foot. The doctor who treated me at the time said it should be healed in 2-3 weeks. I was relieved at that because we're heading to the Jersey shore for a week on 7/28.

Well, I went to a podiatrist yesterday for a follow up exam and he said the toe is actually fractured in two places and it will take 6-8 weeks to heal. He was just stunned when I told him the first doctor said 2-3 weeks.

So I asked about my shore trip and if I can go boogie boarding and surfing. He said I'm not even allowed in the water - no swimming, no boogie boarding, no surfing.

I nearly fainted. :scared1: I asked why and was told no high impact sports because you want to bone to be still at all times to heal properly.

The only silver lining is that the bone should be all healed by 8/23 as I booked the DCL snorkeling excursion at Castaway Cay. Thank goodness we booked this cruise for late in August and not earlier.

So I am going to grit my teeth and suck it up and be good down at the shore and focus on getting all healed by 8/23.

At least I'll have the Harry Potter book to read on the beach.
