At Bay Lake Tower now

we booked last week a studio with lv for february. when we first bought in this april, we looked at mk views, at the suggestion of our dvc rep, he said it would be better use of points to get the lv instead. he was very helpful and it seems he guided us the rite way. can't wait!

For those who have stayed at BLT in LV rooms...

We are heading down in 17 days :cool1: I have a 1bdrm LV room
booked...requested upper floor. Should I also request a specific side (i.e., North?).

Thank you!!

Depends what you want. My LV 1BR (7521) was just perfect. But it is on the inside of the C so it overlooks the pool as well. I loved being in that room and that floor. Right on the skybridge level, great view, great room.

I completely agree with your post. We made cash reservations for a 2 BR LV at the BLT in June. We were originally given room 7605. My heart sank when I looked out the big window and saw......the building in front of ours and a sliver of lake out to the left.

I called the front desk and informed them I was supposed to have a lake view. The lady on the phone informed me "Room 7605 is considered a Lake View and we have no other rooms available at this time." I told her the only way I'd feel okay about the view is if they removed the extra charge for a "lake view". The front desk put a manager on the phone and I explained the situation. She repeated the "If you can see the lake, it's a lake view" mantra. She was nice but really emphasized and wanted me to understand room 7605 is a "lake view". I was very nice and diplomatic on the phone but I don't care what they say, if 75% of my view is the building on the other side of the concourse, it's not a lake view and not worthy of the extra $$.

They did graciously move us to 7602 which was MUCH better. We had to wait until the room was ready but it was so worth the wait.

BTW, I loved BLT so much I now call it "home". It really was wonderful and for anyone trying to decide, there are SO MANY great fireworks viewing options, other than your balcony that I would never spend my points on an MK view. There's the TOTW and an outdoor terrace outside the CR, just before you cross the walkway to BLT (no special passes /DVC cards needed for this) and of course, there's the walkway. Personally, I'd rather hop the 'rail to the Poly and view from the beach, then hop back to the CR.

My initial bad experience with this sketchy "lake view" room makes me nervous about even spending points on another lake view. I agree they really need to change the classification of those inner circle rooms and not consider them lake views.

you might want to request the 5th floor. It must be nice to have the same floor as the bridge.

I had requested an upper floor only because of the many posts we've read about being able to see the other parks- that sounds found! I am concerned, however, about the "inner C" rooms and not really seeing the lake. That defeats the entire purpose of bumping up to a LV room! If you have to play peek-a-boo, then that's not the actual view your getting :confused3

It doesn't surprise me that Disney classifies a villa as Lake View if it has a partial view of Bay Lake. The Unofficial Guide Book states, partially in jest, that a room at Coronado Springs qualifies as having a 'water view' if you can see the lake, a pool, a retention pond, or a drinking fountain from the room. If rooms are reclassified downward at BLT, then keep in mind that the cost of Lake View and probably standard view rooms will increase.

Hi, Guys! I am so excited to be staying at BLT for the first time in September! I had tried to book a MK view, but the studios were all booked, so I we booked a lake view. I thought I would be nice to see MK from the balcony. So, since we got lake view, I was thinking it would be nice to be close to the Contemporary (to catch the monorail, go over for breakfast, etc.). Which floor do you get the cross-over? Would the rooms on the side closest to the Contemporary have any nice views or would I be trading convenience for the view?
Any help would be appreciated.

I would just request outside the C - either south or north. most of the LV views are in the C - or a good portion of them.

with south views you should be able to see the EWP at night - and in some rooms the fireworks at Epcot - now it has been reported you can see Studios and AK too - I can't - my eyes are not that good anymore.

with north views you might see the MK.

Yesterday we managed to go to animal kingdom during the day, Cal Grill for dinner, over to Epcot for Illimunations and back to Cal Grill for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks. Now that was a full day.

If you receive an outer C (even #) on the North side, you will likely be able to see some of MK and the fireworks from your room.

Which floor do you get the cross-over?
The skybridge is on the 5th floor of BLT and connects to the 4th floor (same floor as the shops and Contempo Cafe) of the Contemporary.

We had an outer C facing the Contemporary pool area. We absolutely loved it. We could see the monorails on both sides of the Contemporary. To the extreme right, we could see the Grand Floridian. We had a very good view of the lake activity and the dock, including the Electric Water Pageant. In the distance we could see Epcot firework, Disney Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

I suggest looking at work2play's thread to see pictures from various rooms. Everyone is different, so one person may like view A, while another dislikes it. Looking at pictures from the various rooms may help you decide what area to request for, keeping in mind it's just a request and not guaranteed.
