Ask a Webmaster- here's a chance to ask anything you've been wondering about!

But I have a GIANT pecan tree in my backyard, and I'm hoping I'll have a nice crop to make chocolate chip pecan cookies with my own pecans this winter!

:)
THAT'S when I'm coming to a DFW meet! :yay: :rotfl:

Lately I've been listening to TV show theme songs in my car. I bought a set of 2 cd's a while back that has 100 of them. There are some really good ones :music:, and they sure bring back memories.
That would be a cool thing to listen to!

Why does everyone always think it always rains in Seattle? It is a beautiful day here, mid 70's, blue skies and the mountain is out. What more could you ask for?

yes, Tig, I know the mountain is always out. It's just hiding behind clouds sometimes.
:rotfl2:

Okay, I'm fond of the navigation system, too. But that danged navigation lady sure can be a whiny nag:

"Make the next right"

"You missed your turn. Make a legal U-turn."

"Make a U-turn now, please."

"Are you listening to me?"

"Fine. Then just make the next right and I'll get you back on track another way."

"Hello? You missed that turn again."

"If you're not going to turn when I tell you, why'd you bother powering me on?"

"Now we're lost. It's your fault."

"Fine. Whatever. Recalculating route... as if it'll do any good."

DH is convinced that she and I will have a knock-down drag-out fight in a parking lot one day. :rotfl2:
   Sounds like me with my navigation system. I have been know to yell a few choice words at it. :rolleyes1

Can't you change yours to a male voice? I prefer female since I'm sick to death of males telling me where to go. ;)

I highly recommend turning it to German; my colleagues often do that when I am in the car. Then I get to both translate AND imitate the annoying little knowitall.... ;)

Oh my goodness, can you imagine if we got to pick the voice for our GPS? "I'd like Johnny Depp, please"...I'd never get out of my car again!

See I think it would be funny to be able to adjust both voice and personality....hmmm, I'm in a Donald Duck mood today.

Tom Tom Go units have some celeb voices. My brother listens to John Cleese tell him where to go, it is hysterical. :lmao:

Ok, now THAT's a feature I'd pay for!!! Oh my!

I don't have a port thing in my car for my MP3 player, or else I'd download the DIS podcasts to listen to in the car :(.

do you have a tape player. You can still get the headphone-tape player converter. That is how I listened to satelite radio until I had it hardwired.

"I say, that is the turn just ahead that you will make a right at.

You will need to travel 3.2 seconds using the velocity of a swallow

Avoid the bunny rabbits

Please ensure that when you exit the car, you walk with your funny or unusual walk"

DH is going to get me one because I am hopelessly lost all the time (STHU ALL of you!) He wants to get me one with Mr T

"Turn here FOOL"

"Don't mess with me, I SAID take a Right, YOUR OTHER RIGHT"

ALEX!!!!:furious:

The smilies are moving again and NOT in a good way!!!! :headache: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?????

Nope :(. Just a cd player. I might just get a new stereo put in it that has a jack in it. Do those exist?? My husband's MP3 jack in his Prius is not actually in the stereo, but in the little console in the middle. I guess that's so your MP3 player and wires aren't visible to potential thieves..

Get this... DH actually bought me a USB GPS from Microsoft. You attach it to your car window AND your laptop. Somebody wanna take a guess on if that's ever been used??? Geesh. We don't go on long road trips, but with the battery life of our laptops, we could only go about 2 hours anywhere before they'd shut down.

He's looking into a 10 hour laptop battery plus car/airplane charger... You know, just in case! :rotfl:

So let's see... $100 for a GPS, another $150 for a good battery. Not too bad for a combination DVD player/GPS unit that has never been used! ;)

I think WMCorey is the smilie guy, so don't blame Alex. Not for this anyway :lmao:.

But they move after the DIS goes down, and we have to blame Alex when the DIS goes down. Besides Kathy said that Rule #1 is Always Blame Alex!

Here is a better/cheaper solution that we just did. At Costco (and other places) you can get a converter thingy--you are way more technical than I am) that you plug into your cigarette lighter in the car and then can plug regular plugs into. We just got one for our car trip to NY this summer so the kids could watch DVD's on the laptop. They just plugged the laptop in. It looks almost like a regular surge protector. It cost us about $25-$30 and is so useful.

You could also plug in a small TV or other small things. I guess it has a max amount you can plug in because I aked if we could buy a small refrigerator and microwave and plug them in so we could bake a cake on the way to WDW and DH said no! :rotfl2: He did actually have an extension cord plugged into it because DD7 had a small portable DVD player plugged in and DD11 was using the laptop.

I will see if I can find the link to and Edit and add it in here. Yep, here it is, but ours was cheaper and smaller--DH said this is just a similar thing: http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Powerworks-225-Watt-Inverter-CMPW225/dp/B000PF4SU8/ref=sr_1_6/002-1671624-9126436?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1187261998&sr=1-6

You mean an inverter? ;)

Thanks, lovestoscrap!

Here's a geeky quote joke for Unix people (of course lifted from bash.org's quotes, with a bit censored):
<Aoi-chan> everyone's first vi session. ^C^C^X^X^X^XquitqQ!q[esc]qwertyuiopasdfghjkl;:xwhat
