As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

I can't believe it! We've been booked for almost 8 months now and it feels really surreal! Only 3.5 weeks away! :thumbsup2

I know a lot of us are either headed to WDW or are down there right now so I'm hoping everyone has a safe and magical vacation! pixiedust:

Surreal is the perfect word!!!

page 2 :scared1:

Everyone must be busy packing!!!

I totally spit out my water when I read this :lmao:

Just stopping in to Wish Everyone who is headed to Disney a Safe & Magical Trip!

Just stopping in to Wish Everyone who is headed to Disney a Safe & Magical Trip!

Thanks! Hard to believe we've been here (Deerfield Beach) just north of Lauderdale since Aug 7! Where is the time going :confused3. Thought we'd have time to do more!! But we had a good visit with my brother who flew down for 4 days, and cousin who lives here, plus seeing my mom. Sad I haven't had time to catch up with a girlfriend from home who moved here!

We have had beach time, usually grab a couple of afternoon hrs around 3:00 after we've finished visiting, etc. Yesterday was retail therapy, lol. Today one daughter found out about a park here that has wake boarding!! So went there. Another afternoon we went to a Turtle Sanctuary nearby.

Tomorrow is our last full day, and the girls want to go to The Science Museum down in Ft Lauderdale. So will do that in the morning after seeing mom, then it's back to the hotel to do laundry and pack.

Saturday we drive up to Orlando. Sunday checking into Portofino.
I need a Slow Button, this Holiday is going way to fast :upsidedow

Sounds like a great start. Vacations always go by so fast. Can't wait to hear how you like WWofHP... We will get there.. One day. :)

Just poppin' in to say hello while I watch Shark Week with JM. I took Joey to get her learner's permit and boy was it a long process. I picked him up from football practice just after 11 AM. We got to the DMV just before noon. As we were talking to the woman, she asked for his birth certificate, which I totally forgot. I went to the courthouse, like I thought she said. When I got to the courthouse, she said I had to go across the street. I moved the car to that building, and was told they only took cash. Back to the minivan to get to the bank, then back to get his birth certificate. When we got back to the DMV, it had 20-30 people in it (where as before had less than 5). We left the DMV just before 3 with the paper copy of his learner's permit. I assumed he would just have a paper learner's permit, but it will actually be more like a driver's license. He wasn't happy at all about having to take off his hat to take his picture.

Hello everyone, I can't help it. I started browsing the the Disneyworld site on my lunch break and after seeing the prices at WL I changed my reservation.

Former: POFQ King room 1/26/15-2/2/15

Now: Wilderness Lodge Standard View 1/26/15-2/2/15

If the discounts fall in the right way I might be able to get a courtyard view. :wizard:

Congrats! The lodge is amazing! :cheer2::cheer2:

Thank you, but if you mean the Santa hat picture, I didn't knit that one. It's the picture that came with the pattern I am going to knit. I hope the ones I do turn out that good.

PAGE 3?!?!?! ACK! :scared:

Hoping everyone has had a great weekend. I know our schools start next week so thoughts to all our teachers on here and all those on/about to be on their last summer vacations! :beach:

HUGS to all and happy planning! :flower3:

:wave2: Dimndgal1!

Yes, I hope that everyone is well. I know many of us are in the midst of vacation! pixiedust:

Nothing new for this trip coming up. We received the first set of Magic Bands yesterday and I think the other set will be here tomorrow. :goodvibes

As for the NEW trip next year, (Sept 17th-25th) there will be 9+ an infant!
of us travelling. We have DH, Charlotte and myself, my parents, DH's parents, and DH's younger brother, his wife and his baby who is due Christmas day! It's a girl and we're all very happy for them. I love that Charlotte will have a cousin close in age. At the time of travel, Charlotte will be 2 (:crazy2: ) and the baby will be 8-9 months.

I am very excited to be putting this together! My parents have asked DH and I to scope out different resorts and take pictures so we can decide what kind of price point we're aiming for. So, when DH and I have our "date night" we will do resort hopping!

I know we will want to hit F&W and maybe even MNSSHP!

Anyway, lots to think about between now and then. It's exciting to share our happy place with those we love! :)

I'm so excited!! I ordered new credit cards with a picture of Walt and Mickey in front of the castle. I still haven't told the DH I ordered them. This is what they look like.....

I just posted the picture they emailed me, letting me know they approved the picture, so the information on it isn't the real information on our cards.

How awesome! If I did that, it would just make me more likely to use the card, lol!

Even when I don't use it, I sometimes take it out to just look at it.

Nothing new about my trip. I do have a new idea I would love to run by y'all. I have shown y'all the Minnie t-shirts I am having made and the green scarves that I am making matching hats for. Now that I am making the Santa hats, the scarf won't match the hat. I am thinking I could get this on a t-shirt on probably black.

I would have her leave the red balls that are strung together left off and I would sew these on..

Then the big yellow, silver, red balls would be colors to match the lights.

My thinking is, we would wear those on the night we do the Candlelight Processional and with it wear the green scarves and hats. Then, I'll knit a red and white scarf to match the Santa hats, which we will wear with the Minnie t-shirts at MVMCP.

What do y'all think?

Hello! May I join the resort changers? I cannot believe I am doing this.... This will be our 9th trip since 2001, our 5th with kids and before now once I made a reservation that was it. Done. This time though I don't know what is going on. I originally booked POR over thanksgiving since we have 5 and one under 3. For the first time since we had kids we can't stay at WL which is a huge bum for us. I thought the AB at POR would be similar in theming for the kids who are used to WL. Last week I started to panic....will POR have enough square footage for the open Murphy bed and the pack and play? More importantly will DH be happy at a moderate since we have stayed deluxe the past 7 trips? We also stayed at AKL and YC before kids ::yes::
I thought split stay would be nice staying at POR for the first few nights and switching to the BC/YC since we did split stays between WL and BC on our last two trips. Unfortunately after checking/stalking the site nothing is available for YC, BC, even CR for the last few days of our trip at the fall offer rate or even the full price rate. Then I did it. There was availability at BWI for our entire trip at the fall offer so I switched completely over. DH is now very happy we are back at deluxe. However, I'm nervous. Never stayed at BWI before and read some of the reviews. So I am back on the site stalking to see if a BC/YC or CR opens up for the fall offer. I guess everyone is going to disney over thanksgiving since all those rooms are booked!!!

piglet - :wave2: yay for prepping for one trip and planning the next! It's great to have cousins close in age!!! (my nephew on my side is 3 months older than DD7 and my nephew on DH's side is 2 months younger than DD1... it's great!!!) They'll be Disney buddies!

THREE WEEKS! :thumbsup2

How awesome! If I did that, it would just make me more likely to use the card, lol!

Dude, it's true! I have a Disney Visa and it had the 50th Anniversary golden castle on it and I LOVED seeing it in my wallet... much to DH's dismay. Now that it's a basic Mickey I don't feel the need to 'visit' him as often :rotfl:

wookie - LOVE the shirt!!!! So cute! And I love the little light accessories! :upsidedow

HELLO! pixiedust: and Welcome to the most indecisive but welcoming group around!

I, personally, would stay at BWI the whole trip mostly because split-stays are fun but hard with LOs, but I understand the idea of trying to split it up. I LOVE BWI and that was our first choice (and a split choice) for us this trip but F&W filled the EPCOT resorts up ASAP. We absolutely loved YC and did a POR/YC split last trip which was nice, but DH fell in love with Deluxe and has turned into a bit of a snob about it all - he jokes that we are 'slumming' at Christmas with his family at CSR.

Honestly, since it's THanksgiving and a busy time, I'd stick with what you have unless your heart is truly set elsewhere... you'd hate to change knowing the odds of going back are slim. Still, do what feels best for your group. My ILs had an AB room last trip with 4 adults and they were not thrilled with space (esp when we moved to YC) and the murphy is convenient but does occupy walking area.

I hope you figure out the best option for the group and find a place to settle... however, we will all be more than happy to talk you into whichever direction you want to go!!! :scratchin

TA scored us BoG FP so I'm very excited about that. Due to the Frozen package we had to shuffle some stuff around and we had a 'dead' dining zone that BoG filled nicely. We had HS slated for 2 evenings but since we'll be spending our whole final day there, we switched parks around and cut down on hopping. Right now we have this:

Sun: MK (BoG) / EP (GG) (focus on FW)
Mon: AK / EP (focus on WS)
Tues: Kona breakfast / MNSSHP
Wed: resort day / Boma
Thu: MK (CP) ... hop to EP for F&W soft open if we desire
Fri: 8a Akerhaus, HS for Frozen Fun

AK is hard with DD1 (Safari is about all she can do) and we plan on doing extra AK time at Christmas. HS is same way (Playhouse Disney is all she'll care about now) so we maximized time at EP and MK. Depending on how much we get done at MNSSHP, we may cut MK on Thurs after our E&A M&G and spend the rest of the day at WS in EPCOT... but DH likes the idea of loose plans so we can go with the flow.

SOOO ready to live vicariously through our August ladies and WOOHOO for getting close to the Sept trips!!!

We're very excited for DD to have a cousin not too much younger than she is. I grew up having that and it's the best. It's definitely a bonus that it's a girl too. :)

Yeah, it should be fun bringing the family. My dad is not a theme park guy so I definitely plan on him and DH's dad to have a least 1 tee time. I'm not really focused on the new trip until we get back from the one that is right around the corner. In 3 weeks we'll be hopefully sitting by the pool and enjoying the afternoon before an early dinner at EoS!

:welcome: My friend that I am going with in December loves the BWI. In fact, we would still have a ressie there, if the DH hadn't decided he didn't want to pay that much for a trip he wasn't going on.

It really is great to have cousin's that close in age. My bil's son is right about two years younger than our youngest. He is more like a brother to our two boys than a cousin. It has been so much fun watching them grow up together.

Thank you. I still need to send the person a message to see if she can make them. The more I think about it, the more I think it will look better just solid green with me sewing the lights on the green MH. I don't want it to look too busy, if that makes sense.

The plans look good. We have been writing down our plans for our December trip. I have several lists, so we don't forget something that is a must do. I thought it would be easier to do it that way since we have never been any where together.
Mon - Check into SoG, MK until lunch, Epcot until dinner at Le Cellier, back to MK since it's open until midnight
Tuesday - Epcot all day with the Candlelight Processional Dining Package, eating at Teppan Edo, watch Illuminations
Wednesday - AK until lunch at Yak & Yeti, MK during the afternoon, DHS long enough to see the Osborne Lights, back to the MK until it closes
Thursday - MK all day, Crystal Palace for breakfast, 1900 Park Faire for an early dinner before MVMCP
Friday - Check out and drive back to Atlanta
