As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hello to my RC'ing friends! I am so sorry I've been MIA for quite awhile, so much has been on my plate and many of my RC'ing ladies are on my FB, which is much easier for me to make quick replies and updates! However, I've missed you all and wanted to stop in and update you on some happenings of the past few months. Unfortunately for us, DH is still recovering from his shooting that took place almost 18 months ago now!! The trial for the inmates who shot him will be coming up in October. I had hoped he could forgo the heartache and stress of a trial, but it looks like the guys aren't willing to cop a deal, so off to trial we have to go. Hoping it is quick/ it is scheduled to last 3 weeks....I hope they throw the book at them! Speaking of which, DH has also been booted off Workers Comp and onto Long Term Disability as he awaits his last surgery, sometime this fall....this was a big pain for us as it drops his salary by 30%!! Don't know why they don't just keep him on WCB until all is said and done, but you know the govt. have to pinch a penny even if it means inconveniencing the victim or being more effiecient ...they don't care though, so we are appealing this through the union and hopefully his WCB benefits will be re-instated. Who knows how long that will take though!

Money is so tight, we can't even think of a trip at the moment, which is another reason for my lengthy delay of posting! :( it's hard to not have a trip planned to share in all the planning excitement with you! Hopefully DH and I will be able to get a trip together in the next year or so and I can join in the happy-planning band wagon with you all! I miss WDW so much. Definitely, we could do with some couple time in my favourite place!

With all the hustle and bustle, I do have some AMAZINGLY great news to share with you all..... Last week, my DS Andrew (18)FINALLY got the call we've all been waiting anxiously for for 5 months.... He got his job offer for the Military!!!!!! He will be joining the Canadian Armed Forces (air Force) as an Aircraft Structure Technician. He is being sworn in on October 10/ and begins Basic Training on October 20!!!! So proud of him and happy his career dream of being in the military is coming to life! Wish him luck, he's going to have culture shock and will surely be pushed in so many ways....however, he will only be a better person for it all. He has job security, pension, benefits.....he's got it made. I hope he adapts to basic trg. and can't wait to go to his graduation in FEB (FEB 6) -- very proud of him we are!

So that's it in a nutshell.... preparing Andrew for leaving in 8 weeks, and basically waiting to get hubby's trial over with is the nuts and bolts of my life right now.
I hope you are all enjoying your trips that are upcoming! hopefully soon, I can join back in with the planning of my own trip, I very much look forward to that day!

Thinking of you all and sending a big group hug!

Marie

Good to hear from you. I'm sorry about your hubby. It's too bad those criminals couldn't do the right thing for once and not put your hubby through a trial. I have been wondering how he was doing. Every time I see a police officer, I wonder how he is doing.

That is truly great news about Andrew. He picked such a great m.o.s. . He'll be should be able to get some good training in an occupation he could find a good job in if he ever decides to leave the military.

We're very excited for DD to have a cousin not too much younger than she is. I grew up having that and it's the best. It's definitely a bonus that it's a girl too. :)

Yeah, it should be fun bringing the family. My dad is not a theme park guy so I definitely plan on him and DH's dad to have a least 1 tee time. I'm not really focused on the new trip until we get back from the one that is right around the corner. In 3 weeks we'll be hopefully sitting by the pool and enjoying the afternoon before an early dinner at EoS!

I totally understand about bringing the not parkers -- that's my SIL and BIL at Christmas. I give them credit for coming along since they are NOT Disney people but we've made sure they have enough space to enjoy the non park stuff.

Grats on scoring a BoG FP. We are going to try and eat lunch there on our trip.

The plans look good. We have been writing down our plans for our December trip. I have several lists, so we don't forget something that is a must do. I thought it would be easier to do it that way since we have never been any where together.
Mon - Check into SoG, MK until lunch, Epcot until dinner at Le Cellier, back to MK since it's open until midnight
Tuesday - Epcot all day with the Candlelight Processional Dining Package, eating at Teppan Edo, watch Illuminations
Wednesday - AK until lunch at Yak & Yeti, MK during the afternoon, DHS long enough to see the Osborne Lights, back to the MK until it closes
Thursday - MK all day, Crystal Palace for breakfast, 1900 Park Faire for an early dinner before MVMCP
Friday - Check out and drive back to Atlanta

Love the plans! and I hope you get the BoG FP! My TA was calling about a different situation (trying to find out about the mysterious $50 credit some people are talking about with WL) and the operator mentioned BoG was open for our arrival day, so TA checked for our MK day and got it! Didn't get the credit (not sure if they are only giving it to people under certain promotions... we're under MIL which is pretty reduced) but the BoG FP helped me get over that pretty quickly. :goodvibes

chimo - Oh my, what a full plate!!!
My thoughts are with you and DH - what a stressful and frustrating situation. I absolutely hate when the bottom line seems to step all over actual life. *HUGS* that your DH's surgery goes well and I hope the trial is swift and strong!!!
Kudos and congrats to your DS! I agree it's a great MOS and I have learned the aviation community is a strong one (we have mingled with some Canadian, Japanese, and UK troops in our 10 years and it's an amazing community in every country!) I know it will be hard to have him go but that you and DH are super proud!

:grouphug: to you and everyone else!!!!

Oh yeah, I had a long conversation with my dad. He kept complaining about the crowds and heat, and I basically said, "Dad, its what you make of it. Enjoy the experience with two little ones! They'll only be little for so long. A nap in the afternoon WILL happen! Enjoy the time spent with the family."

But he's still on board. His ideal vacation is a cabin in the mountains.;)

Popping in to say Hi! :wave2:

Sue, glad you had some time with your brother, cousin and friends and of course with your mom. Difficult yes, but I believe in some way she knows you are there with her. And so sorry about your cat.

Been thinking of you at WWoHP and hope you are having a blast... Oh make sure you grab a time turner on your way out… we need one of those at Disney.:upsidedow See u soon! (I’ll look for the lady with all the brighton on l:rotfl2:)

Trish, loved your pix! Sure you wish you could have a do-over, those short trips are nice but way too short. Sure you came away with priceless memories... :)

Dimndgal1, congrats on booking Frozen. I was on the fence, almost booked and then when I called back, it was sold out. Its okay. I’ll still get my Frozen fix at HS. Got an Elsa shirt at Hot Topic. Yes, sometimes this mom can find something appropriate at that store lol. Btw, always love seeing pix of your cute girls.

Wookie, love the cups, and love all your ideas for your holiday party. I’m sure you will do justice to that Santa hat (and it will look even better than the model). Congrats to Joey on his permit and his success behind the camera.

Pas, my dear friend, we will be seeing you soon! Can’t wait!:cool1:

Marie, excellent news on Andrew’s acceptance in the military!! :yay: And congrats to the proud parents as well.:goodvibes So sorry that DH will have to relive everything at trial, let’s hope for a speedy and just conclusion. Hoping that your dreams of returning to Disney materialize soon.

Sheila, wish you would pop in more often. Hoping that soon you’ll be sharing news of an upcoming trip.

Ginny, no surprise, but DD and I are NOT packed!! LOL Kind of slotting this for Thursday night as I don’t sleep. Been thinking of you and DH and been sending healing vibes your way. Look for incoming pix soon!

Piglet, congrats on your plans for next year’s trip.. that’s the way to do it before this years even happens. Soon we will be wishing you safe travels.

Add me to the list of changers!!! I've changed my mind so much my head hurts, looks like I will be in good company here?!?

Quick background/current problem: my family (DH,DD8,DS4) stayed at CBR last year and really loved it, we want to go again and looked at late Jan/early Feb'15 depending on flight costs and settled with 1st wk of Feb then some awesome posters here made me aware of a dance competition ending on our arrival day at WDW and a cheer group coming in towards our last days, and that's all it took to take my perfect plan into a weeks worth of staring at the computer, looking up all other moderates, looking at deluxe if there's a RO discount, you name it I have every scenario on a post-it! My thoughts:
1- Stay at CBR and hope these groups will not effect our stay (preferred room, few meals at food court)
2-POFQ- theme does nothing for me but would be budget friendly
3-Throw in the towel and hope for a discount at AKL or WL
4- So I've got nothing yet but I'm sure by the end of the day I will have another brilliant thought to add to the list!

Thanks for accepting me and offering any and all advice!

That is totally my FIL! Though, he is willing to sacrifice mountains for thrills -- I've already conceded that FIL and DD7 will be up until 3 am riding whatever thrills they can on Christmas Eve.

I'm sorry you missed the Frozen package but at least you can enjoy the free side. DH is on the fence about if it is worth paying for the package but since it made me drop the discussions of getting the girls cakes, he figures we still came out even :rotfl: And I totally love Hot Topic even though I'm so not the target demographic anymore. Makes me nostalgic!!!

Awww, thanks for the kudos!!! For those that don't know, we took the girls to Six Flags this weekend and had DD1 on her first rides. DD7 was less than thrilled to 'tone it down' to ride the kiddie rides but was a good kid sister. Got some cute pics (on FB) and am now even more excited about Disney with the girls!!!!

JEANETTE: :bday:party::jumping1::rainbow: See you soon for that birthday hug!!!

Oh look at the ticker! Oh ya baby!

HAHA, I totally squealed when I looked at your ticket! W00t!!!!!

 WELCOME!!!
The only reason I would hesitate to say POFQ is that when we stayed during a dance competition we found that the dancers were all at values and CBR but the OTHER groups visiting were at POR so we unruly teenagers that just happened not to be dancing. I would go with what you know and like (not to mention a good chance at a refurbed room!!!) and keep an eye for a discount at WL or AKL... that time of year usually offers some good discount and I think it's worth moving up to avoid a lot of the craziness if you snag a great rate.

party: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANETTE!!! :bday:

Yep, you belong here:)

I have enjoyed all the mods. POR is prettier in person. It has the most seating of the q's'so. The feature pool is really pretty too.

I rank CSR, CBR POR then FQ.

For CBR I now would probably go only if I do preferred. It is so much more convenient to stay close to pool and shops.:thumbsup2

CSR the business class is great for the price. You get a great location and convenience of food and drinks too.

FQ is the easiest to get around but has the worst pool. It's smaller and always COLD.

For your deluxes WL is closer to MK and would save time if you there a lot. However if your family likes animals AKL is so great to wake up, get coffee and watch for a giraffe from your balcony:thumbsup2

Oh, www.portorleans.org is a great site if you want to see more of those resorts.

Why are we so quiet???

:wave2: all!!!

:bored: waiting on official word on Japan and trying not to mess with trips!!!

Not too much to report. Finally found a good boarding place for our pup. I met the owner and I think Mr Milo is going to have a great "vacation" too. I'm feeling good about it.

Almost Friday folks! :)
