Are you germophobic?

Hovering is the reason there is always pee all over the seats in the ladies restrooms.

Exactly--and the "hoverers" would never DREAM of wadding up a big ball of tissue and cleaning up their sprinkles. They are even afraid of their own germs. Best to leave it for the cleaning people.

I absolutely hate hotels. Could be one reason we don't go on vacations too often. :teeth: I always think of the grossest possibilities when I first walk into a room. Another who won't go barefooted in one. :crazy2:

Yesterday at work I was waiting for the person in the cafeteria to make my sandwich. Another employee walked over to her and started a conversation with her. As she made my sandwich she smiled and talked. All I could think was...please don't spit/spray over my sandwich! :crazy2: After the bad experience I had with Subway and returning my lunch there, I took my chances with this sandwich.

I'm another wiping the cart at the food store. :)

Don't people check prior to "sitting," if you do? I wipe before AND after! ;) And let's not forget to line the seat with TP.

Yes yes yes I am a total germaphope. I carry lysol wipes to wipe down tables at restaurants, carts etc. and I always have hand sanitizer. I also clean a hotel room with lysol and wipes.

I do check but why is it my responsibilty to have to wipe someone elses pee off the seat. I try not to even use a public restroom unless I am about to die.
If you hoover then you should clean your nastiness.

I have started using a disinfectant wipe on the toilets in public and use my foot to wipe the seat. Just Nasty, nasty ,nasty.

Yep, I definitely check!

As I get older and more out of shape, hovering isn't easy!;) I just feel sorry for the little old ladies that go in there and have to wipe up before they can even put their seat cover on.

No. My house is cleaner than most, but it is more of an anal thing than a germaphobe thing.

I think this country has gone "germ" crazy.

I kept him isolated from everyone, wore face mask everytime I had contact with him, washed my hands 100 times a day. He said that was a minor miracle that no caught it. So I guess it pays off sometimes!

I'm sorry that just seems overboard In my personal opinion. I'd be more worried about making my child feel bad then the risk of catching the flu, unless there were autoimmune issues.

I'm all for following basic hygene. I wash my hands everytime I'm in the restroom, I wipe the seats, and I'm one of those who tends to wipe down hotel rooms just because it's a space I'll spend a lot of time in.

But I think we have a tendancy nowadays to over do it. Our own immune systems don't work like they should if we don't let them actually work.

I'm becoming one I think. I used to not be, but after DS's came along I started slowly creeping to the dark side of germphobia.

Here's something to think about in the stalls of public bathrooms. When you go in, make sure you get some toliet paper and use it to close the stall door with. Just think..........the last thing the person before you touched when they left that stall was---that door latch. And before that, what were they doing with their hands. There's noooooooooooooo telling. :rolleyes1

Apart from the basic hygene things, not mixing raw meat with anything, keeping them seperate in the fridge. Washing hands after using the toilet and handling raw food no germs don't bother me. I use the comforter in hotel rooms walk round bare foot in the room (walked through the coloured canyon in Egypt bare foot stubbed a toe but the sand stopped the bleading) don't cary any anti bacterial stuff, don't use it in the home I would rather build up immunities than leave myself exposed to everything because my body hasn't met it. Just go through life and enjoy it.

My co-workers make fun of me being a germaphobe all the time. But they are just as bad as me, and I don't think it's out of the ordinary. I never sit on public toilets. But I do line them with tp and clean up after myself. Public bathrooms disgust me but there is no reason for me to leave my germs behind too. ;) I wash my hands frequently, I wipe off grocery cart handles, and I believe in the 1 second rule, if I drop food then I'm not eating it!

I couldn't agree more. Purell must be rolling in the dough these days.

I have a question for the people who don't sit on a toilet seat, even with a paper cover. What exactly are you afraid of catching?

I think so too!

Although I must admit that we had a virus in this house that went through the entire family. It was so bad that I disinfected the house and all its contents. I wanted it GONE! :thumbsup2

Anyone else give up lemon wedges in restaurants? You can't control what other people do.

After MRSA was found in a few students in DS's high school, I sent him to school with Lysol wipes in his backpack. For a few weeks I was after him to use them on the desks in his classes...he has know idea if one of those kids was in the same desks as him. I haven't checked, but I'll bet he didn't use one.

I do the normal hand-washing/cleanliness stuff etc. but I don't go crazy.
I stay in hotels. I use the public bathrooms.

I am a nurse. I am not going to catch anything "out there" that I haven't been exposed to (and probably 10 times worse) at work.

Amazingly enough, I am hardly ever sick. Seldom get colds. Have had the flu once in all my life. No pneumonia, no infections, no MRSA, no VRE.

I did have open heart surgery, but that was for a congenital defect, not because of a public bathroom.

I am to an extent. I wash my hands a lot and either wipe down the cart or use my sleeve to push. I also never touch handles on my way out of public restrooms. It doesn't matter so much on the way in because I'm going to be washing my hands. I flush the toilet with my foot. In hotels I just wipe down with water because I don't feel like lugging along lysol. I haven't gotten sick yet and I am on vacation so I like to enjoy myself. BUT I do wash my hands after coming back to the room and touching public surfaces, especially on cruise ships. I will not use the bed spreads in hotels.
