I'm not even a little, really. But yesterday I ran into a friend of mine at Dunkin' Donuts, and what he did totally caught me off guard. He got a hot coffee and waited for me to get my iced coffee. We went outside as we were ending our talk, and he reached in his car and got out a disinfecting wipe and wiped his coffee cup before drinking any! :)

Are you germophobic, and to what degree if you are?

Yes, my husband and I both are. Especially in hotels. I bring disinfectant with us and wipe down every conceivable surface as soon as we step foot insidew the room. I also do not like walking barefoot in hotel rooms. Our last trip to MK I wiped down the tea cup spinner with a Lysol wipe bc I could see the thousands of hand prints all over the wheel, and it made me want to gag! Altho I have to say that even my pediatrician was impressed bc my son came down with the flu last Feb, and I went so off the deep end with the Lysol that no one else in my house caught it. I kept him isolated from everyone, wore face mask everytime I had contact with him, washed my hands 100 times a day. He said that was a minor miracle that no caught it. So I guess it pays off sometimes!

To a certain degree.

I wash my hands constantly, use lysol wipes on EVERYTHING...I just enjoy a nice clean smelling house. Just got it all done..

I also have the antiseptic gel on my desk at work, counter at home, etc, etc.

When I travel I like a clean stay, but do not go overboard..

 Nope, I'm germicide-o-phobic! I figure my body can cope with a few germs. But hey, those disinfectants kill everything, why would you want to let something that poisonous in contact with your food!

You mean he actually wiped the rim where he was going to put his mouth?? Yuck, that must make the coffee taste awful as well as being downright unhealthy!

ugh.. NO, but my sister and her creepy husband are. They are scared of any germ but they are sick ALL the time. :confused3

Growing up their kids had colds or something every single week. My Mom said it was because they never built up a defense.

My son is 15 and has had 2 colds his WHOLE life. Yet every time we go to their home they scream about how he's gonna catch his DEATH... :sad2:

SPARE me the germaphobia....:scared:

Pretty much. When in public restrooms, I do turn off the water with a paper towel, then use a different paper towel to open the door on the way out.

When at a coffee bar where we grab a lid ourselves and place it on the cup, I will not take the lid at the top of the stack. :rotfl: I'll pick up a little stack and take one farther down in the pile. It's not just the possibility of someone touching the top lid with germy hands, but flies, etc. that may land on it. :rotfl:

I hate touching anyone else's desk for any reason. And let's not talk about anyone else's phone.

There was one time when a lady working the counter at the coffee bar at work grabbed a cup and placed it on the counter upside down. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I told her I wanted a fresh cup, not that one, and told her why. Amazing they do things like this in front of people working in the hospital.

That's it! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I was never like this until I worked in hospitals...Really!

Yes. I work at a high school and I am constantly cleaning my phone with alcohol, my computer keyboard and my desk. A student will come in and ask to use the phone and I truly cringe. I don't know if it is more like OCD or germophobic, but some of them make a remark when I pull out the tissue and alcohol after they are finished using my phone . . .:lmao:

I must clean my phone at least 50 times a day. I hate when other people use it . . .:rotfl: I also use the palm of my hand to flush the toilet at work or if I'm wearing long sleeves I bring my hand in and flush it with the material.

I wondered the same thing. You would NEVER catch me doing that. Drinking that stuff? Ick!

Ewwww! I use my foot in a shoe or get a little wad of toilet paper to flush. :teeth:

While I do take precautions such as hand washing, and disinfecting kitchen surfaces when I have had raw meat on them, I don't freak out about it. The immune system needs to be tested so it can build up a defense.

I can understand if a person has a preemie wanting to keep all germs away but with a normal healthy child they need some germs.

around men yes, but women, I want there germs

Yes, I am, and I credit my years working in hospitals as the reason, I see just how awful some normal healthy germs can be when they get out of control.

with that said, I do not like chemicals, so the only time i used lysol wipes was at WDW, i wiped the room surfaces down, and on the airplane too.

here at home I just wash surfaces with hot soapy water,
but in public i use alcohol sanitizer on my hands after touching germy surfaces.
I don't touch anything in public bathrooms either. I carry regular baby wipes in my car to wash the kids hands after being in germy places.

I wouldn't wipe a coffee cup down with lysol wipe, but I do wipe the lids off soda if the clerk hands it over with their hand touching across the top where the straw goes, but I wipe with a plain baby wet wipe, not a disinfectant wipe,

I also have been using those purell wipes on the shopping carts when i go in the store, and i use the self checkout just cuz i don't like anyone touching my stuff.
if you ever people watch its amazing, how many people don't wash after using the bathroom, don't use a tissue and sneeze into their hand then touch everything in site, and this is another reason, I do what a previous poster said and I take things from the bottom, for the reasons stated and also if someone coughs or sneezes right there and doesn't cover, it flies all over those lids right on the top.

so yeah, I guess I am germ phobic.

Well sort of. He wiped up to the lid. He didn't take the lid off. And I didn't see him actually wipe the lid. I tried not to watch. :rotfl:

My son's making his first communion in a couple of weeks and I told him I don't want him to drink the wine from the cup. I'm sorry, but 100 2nd graders all drinking out of the same cups?? I THINK NOT!!!! I'm sure Jesus will understand:)))

I have known 2 people to have MRSA in the last year or so, so that's spurred on my obsession even more. That's scary stuff!

I could not agree more. One of the reasons I won't sub in a class younger than 3rd grade is because the little ones tend to drool, honk snot, etc... waaaay too much for me. And I am terrible b/c I will let the older ones break the "no cell phone" rule if it means they are using their own phone instead of the one I just wiped down. I am the Purell Queen at school.

At home I don't mind wallowing in my own mess. But we have a camper we stay in on vacation (have hauled it all the way to Florida) b/c hotel rooms gross us out so much.

I also always wipe down my soda cans before taking a swig.

YES!! at our old church they did communion by intiction (sp?) and I know it isn't quite the same but the cup full of floating bread from other people's communion just made me nauseous. I begged the minister to go back to one piece/everyone gets his or her own cup but he said this was more "communal-spirited". :P
Yeah...as in communal disease when we all get eachother's colds. It was grape juice too so it's not like the alcohol in the wine could kill the cooties.

Oh yes. Like PP said, I won't touch anything in a public restroom and
I've perfected the "hover" technique ;) .

Won't touch an escalator rail or any public door. I'll use a piece of my clothing if I need to. and don't even get me started about eating at a fast food restaurant. Other sit down restaurants - ok, but not fast food.

WDW just about freaked me out with all the ride bars and such, but I was able to deal with it. Must be the magic.

Supermarkets are a challenge, but they've recently started to provide clorox wipes at the door so I don't have to bring my own. I use one at the beginning to wipe my cart down and one when I leave to swipe my hands. That lasts until I get home where I then wash my hands. BTW, I wash hands constantly and sing the alphabet song the whole time.

For the kitchen, I looove to cook. So let's just say anyone eating my food has nothing to worry about. ;)

Overall? Yes, I'm a freak.
