Are They Really Scanning Room Keys?

Some rides, actually most, have attendants with had held scanners at the front of the lines, and they DO scan every person's card.

During Presidents' week the only ride that they were not scanning at all was MIB.

Does each member in your group/family need to hand over their room key or can Mom or Dad be the designated room key card holder? Do many people loose room keys this way? Where does everyone hold these room keys so you don't loose them by taking them out all the time? (Haven't been there in a long time)

I held on to all 4 of our passes, and was usually the one to hand them to the attendant. The four of us would stand there together as the attendant scanned the keys; no one went up ahead or anything. It was never a problem.

When it's said that even the young kids get room cards - Does anyone know if this applies to babes under 3 who wouldn't have to pay for admission anyway?

When our son was a toddler he did get a room key for the FOTL. At that time only one person in the party had to show the key to get the FOTL access. There are rides, such as ET, that young children can go on that FOTL would be needed for.

We kept our room keys (and Fastpass tickets at WDW) in a little credit card holder. I've seen them at Wal-Mart, etc. in the wallet section of the store. It was a good system at WDW because we were able to put our fastpasses in the section with the clear window and could easily check to see what time we needed to return to ride.

Did you keep them in your bag/backpack and had no problem taking them in and out all the time?

I used a small fanny pack to keep my wallet and cards in.
