Are the buses too dangerous?

rent a car. we are driving this year and will use our car if need be. but we don't mind the crowded busses or the standing (i've done it pregnant, with a child and a stroller and didn't care) i think it's fun. :)

Over the course of a week in December we only had super crowded buses once or twice. We went to the parks everyday, but didn't tend to leave right at closing. One of the crowded times we were right behind the yellow line. I was afraid the bus would get cut off and brake suddenly and we'd fly out the window! We didn't, of course. Once that happens you know there will be a major overhaul of the bus system at Disney.

Overall though, I still don't think it's worth renting a car.

Go Johnston Co.!

 Hi neighbors, NC Beast and I also live in Johnston Co.!

Okay...back to original topic...

We had to totally depend on WDW for transportation on our Oct. 2005 trip because we flew except for 1 taxi ride when we changed resorts. I think Pop Century buses were too pack and a bit reckless. I almost lost footing at every light and turn---almost landed on the passagengers sitting. We had experienced some crowding on the bus from BW to MK for one of the Hallowwen party nights, but we did even feel like we were going to wipeout the passengers sitting. I e-mailed Disney after our trip to expressed my concerns and got a form letter back saying that they would investigate. :confused3 I enjoy most buses from other WDW resorts, but not Pop Century. If we give Pop Century an other chance---it will be when we have our car.

Pop buses are bad. It is one of the main reasons we changed our reservations from Pop to CSR for our next trip. Pop is just so huge, it just has more bus riders.

When we were at MK in March at close, they pulled 4 busses up. All the other resorts had one or two, Pop had 4, and all 4 of them were full to the gills!

:wave2: Hi! Wake County here! yeah!

Didn't have anything to say on this topic really, just wanted to say hello! I personally don't hate the bus ride from the Pop...those who drive to the parks: is it really alot quicker than riding the bus when you account for parking, walking into the park, etc.?? We might consider that option on our next trip.

We are sort of the Johnston/Wake county line area. I support all NC schools.

It was not all that quicker when we used our car from CSR on our last day back in June 2004. We had great bus times from AKL, CSR, and BW (depends on the time of day and events). I wished that the lines were under the shelter at Pop Century.

Personally, I hate the buses. I can't stand being jammed into those things with tons of tired people and then hanging on for dear life. I feel really bad for the little kids that have to stand up and then have adults bumping them when the drivers go careening around corners.

I'm glad that lots of people like them but give me the comfort of a car any time! JMO.

We had a bus nearly run us off the road in March. We were absolutely sure he was speeding up to not let us merge *deliberately*. He scared the living hell out of us. We honked the horn at him and he threw up three fingers at us. :confused3 I'm assuming this meant "read between the lines"
We were so shocked, all five of us sat silently dumbfounded for ten minutes. Then, of course, the jokes about "Disney magic" started, along with giving each other the "three finger salute" every now and then. :teeth:

Me, too! I always wondered if I was the only one who felt that way. The bus exhaust smell always makes me think of WDW.

I have to agree that smell from any bus any where reminds me of Disney! Also the sound of a bus!! :sunny:

I don't know whether the buses are dangerous, but I know I just don't like dealing with it. I'm the kind of person that just wants to get where they are going. At 7:00 a.m., I don't want to stand on a bus full of people trying to get to the parks, nor do I want to hassle with it in the evening or figure out how I'm going to get my resort to another for dinner.

Even though I'm a commuter in my "normal" life, I still don't mind driving at WDW.

It has always been worth the $150 rental car fee I pay for my week there. I've always been able to get a great deal on a rental car, even a van. And, if I get the urge to use a bus, I can!
