Does anyone know the difference in price if you upgrade when you get to the ship, as opposed to say like now? What are the chances we would be able to upgrade at the port, for significantly less than the regular price? Since we didn't get a "Magical" free upgrade, I was wondering if there would be a chance to upgrade at the port, but not pay the "right now" price.

It really is hit & miss for upgrades, but never hurts to check. The prices seem higher now than they have been in the past for a port upgrade - maybe they got wise to us!! :lmao:

On our October MVR cruise I upgraded at the port, from our 6A verandah to the Roy Disney Suite. The cost for the two of us was an additional $1,800, I kept my $275 OBC that I got with my onboard booking that I had moved to that cruise. The total for the 7 day cruise, for two adults, was $3,000. I don't think we will ever get that deal again.

In Dec., for a 7 nighter, we were in a 6a and were quoted another $1200 to upgrade to a one bedroom (T?). Makes me wonder if a couple hundred goes a long way in upgrades!! I can't decide whether or not I want to go early & check for an upgrade...and wait a few hours in the port....or just keep what we have & breeze on in at boarding time! Decisions, decisions....:cool1:

Went in for my annual GYN exam and tests last Friday. Got a call last night that I have to come in today to take another mamogram because of something they found on the first. Also, have to go have an pelvic unltrasound tomorrow due to another find. So send me good wishes.

:flower3: Good, good luck with everything, Val!!

I saw another post somewhere where folks took postcards if they were planning to upgrade at the port, then filled out the postcards with old and new stateroom numbers and then on the first day, delivered postcards with changes to all FEs, so all would know of changes.

Great idea!! If we decide to go for an upgrade, I'm going to do that as a back-up, for sure! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

.......We've also done two longer cruises but had 2 formals and one semi, at least I think that's how it went .....

Lately, it's been one formal & 2 semi formals on my cruises that are longer. We were scheduled for 2 formals & one SF on my last 2-weeker, but it was changed to 2 SF & one formal at some point in the cruise.

The party line for all the cruise ships is the first sea day is a formal night, and all the rest are "at the captain's discretion." All we know for sure is that they will be spaced out - the report about 2 semi formals a day apart was suspect because of that - I knew it would change....and of course it will probably change again...lol I hope no one stresses over it too much - I try to pack for options (of course that's why I'm a notorious OVERpacker, but that's another story! :rotfl:)

Hi Everyone, We are still thinking of renting a car in Maui.
Can someone tell me what the port is that we are docking at in Maui. And does anyone know of a rental car agency that has a shuttle to the car pickup. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Genny

The port is Kahului which is near the airport. We went with Budget (through Kayak.com). I called Budget in Maui and they said just call them when we get in and they will send the shuttle to the port for us. I told them there might be quite a few and they said they would send as many shuttles as needed. Sounds like they've dealt with this before.

On the subject of formal nights, I'm thinking since we are going to Hawaii, it might be a little more relaxed. Curt is just bringing a suit jacket and I'm not planning on getting too dressed up. I was thinking about bringing my pirate ears for pirate night, but probably not a costume.

All the 2-week cruises I have been on before (two) have had one formal and two semiformals. I'm not packing for two formals.

Also dresses are not required for semiformals, I've worn pants suits or jumpsuits before.

If dresses are required for formal night, I better get shopping!.. I don't own dresses..:rotfl2:..But, I do want to get dressed up so I can have the dressy pictures taken with my 2 sons, who, I will be getting nice and dressed up as well!..:woohoo:

Sending lots prayers and pixie dust Val. Hope all goes well for you! pixiedust:pixiedust:

We enjoy dressing up for formal and semi-formal nights. Still undecided on if we're brining pirate outfits, probably will. I'm sure there will be a hawaiian themed night but we'll all have something to wear to that.
Since this is the first time we're not having to fly and only have a 20 minute drive to the port I'm planning on making the most of it and not stressing about what I'm taking. A steamer trunk should do nicely.
:banana::banana:

Don't rub it in...;) I think this is payback for all the cruises I took out of Canaveral. I remember asking my TA about weight allowance for the first cruise, she said it is a boat, they don't weigh your luggage. :lmao:

My adult daughter had often worn black dress pants with a fancy blouse for formal...she doesn't like dresses either and now that she walks with a cane slacks are safer.... I alternate between black skirt and black pants with different tops usually.

Has anyone seen the FE lists yet or a post from Three Brit?? Last I remember they were done and going to be posted, hope nothing is wrong.

Truly, is that how it happened on the TA? Goes to show how much I differentiate between the two ... dressing up, is dressing up ;)

If you want an excuse to go shopping, then yes, a dress is a must for formal night ;)

Ok BIG DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!
The FE groups are done and all will be posted on page one soon :)

ok so some info and question answers

1) We have 1 group of 25 and 8 groups of 24,for total of 9 groups. The deal is I had to go off of 3 different rosters so im praying that I have everyone but if I have left anyone off from any of the three rosters PM me and we still have room and can keep under 25.Looks like 92 cabins total if math is right.
2) There are multiple people doing multiple groups , if you find your in too many, not enough or its just not right please pm me. I will update the rosters if anyone adds and then make a post here if a group changes .Im hoping to be the only one changing the roster ( no offense to anyone) but that way we will have ONE list of rosters going LOL
3) I didnt have everyones cabins so if you still say GTY and you have one just pm me and ill update it and hopefully nearer to cruise everyone can print an updated copy on their own, but no worries if you cant because im making packets with ALL the groups and map that I will pass out on sail day in the promenade lounge.
4) I will have a dry erase board and updated roster hanging also from my cabin 7524 so you an come by there for any changes made on sailing day.
5) As an FYI there are some using first names and not dis names.
6) I have a few people who are sharing cabins but are individuals,I did seperate them in different groups so if you see a cabin number twice with different names that is them and please treat them as individuals
I hope that is it, any questions pm me or email me at threrbritts@aol.com.
Im lucky to have a wonderful husband who helped me with this and I hope this will be enjoyable for all and looking forward to seeing everyone running the halls looking for FEs.

Thanks for all your hard work on this.

Just called DCL and was told:
30th - Formal night
9th - Formal night
11th - Pirate night
12th - Semi formal - Captains Night
I also asked about any Hawaiian nights or Hawaiian deck parties and was told the only "Hawaiian" that shows up at this time are the menu's for our port days in Hawaii that will be related to the specific port that we're in.

Thanks for sharing the information.

I have done two 2 week cruises before, the Westbound Transatlantic in 2010 and the Panama Canal cruise in 2011 and for both of them we had two formal nights and one semi-formal.

Calling all people involved in Secret Mickey and the Jewellery Workshops

I you now had your room assignments, could you please send me a PM? I have tried to keep up with room assignments on here and on Facebook, but I have failed miserably. Some people have already send me a PM. Thanks, this is much appreciated.

Dresses aren't required for formal either but there was one report that instead of saying "semiformal" it was the phrase "ladies in dresses, men in suits." Pants suits, etc. are fine for ladies.

My adult daughter had often worn black dress pants with a fancy blouse for formal...she doesn't like dresses either and now that she walks with a cane slacks are safer.... I alternate between black skirt and black pants with different tops usually.

I don't really do dresses either and usually wear black dress pants with nice top. Why I would put myself in a dress and not feel right and whole night would be a mess....I still look nice in pants and feeling more relaxed.

I am not much of a shopper. I really hate to shop for clothes.. I am a jeans/shorts and t-shirt kinda person. Guess this is just a reason to HAVE to shop..:scared1: I will make it thru tho.. :rotfl:

I agree completely~!.. Who says you have to wear a dress to be "dressy"? I might grab one, only because I am excited about the formal photo op with my boys. I am going to get them suits and ties, so we will all be jazzed up! :cool2:

Might just have to bring the "fixins" for this one for Pirate night :rotfl:

Hawaiian Pirate drink recipe
3 oz Cranberry juice
1 oz Melon liqueur
3 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz coconut Rum

YUM!!

My son will wear vest set and he looks so handsome in it, my girl is really girly and she has nice pretty dress.....but still, I will not be in one LOL and hubby just rented his tux last night. We were like this last year and I love our formal picture, you don't see us so nicely dressed too often :)
