Apple Ipod for storing photos!

Hi, anybody else use their ipod for storing their vacation photo's? I bought 8Gb of SD cards for our digital camera which will hold approx. 1800 photo's and was reading a thread on the UK boards about how people take their laptop to transfer their days worth of photo's. I then realised I have an 80GB Video Ipod which is capable of holding photo's. Had a look in our local shops and found an adaptor to connect the ipod to the digital camera. Will take it with us, but haven't as yet used it. Its going to be great to use it as a backup and free extra space on the cards!
My Ipod is the best thing I've purchased so far as I have an exceedingly large collection of albums on there and has only filled under a quarter of the available space! :thumbsup2

If it's the Apple adapter, as someone who used to work in an Apple store, I ask you to do yourself a favor and test it before you go. Those adapters don't work with all cameras, and (I hear) don't work with the new iPod Classic.

I have one of the old iPod Photo models, so naturally I store pictures on it. :)

After i transfer my disney photos onto my computer, i trnsfer them to my ipod as a secondary storage device, just in case my computer crashes.

DH did this when we had a smaller card. He takes about 5000 pics on a 10 day trip so we would dump the card onto the iPod at lunch and then redump the iPod onto the computer when we got back to the room.

Does anyone know if you are able to store RAW photos on an Ipod??? :confused3 My DH just got a new Pentax DSLR and is still finding new toys to go with it, and he does shoot in RAW quite a bit so we can photoshop them easier when we get home. We went through 3-2G memory cards in December, and we really would like to find an alternative to buying tons of memory cards and have the risk of losing them.

It's my understanding that it will import the RAW files to the iPod, but you won't be able to preview them. Which kinda unnerves me a little because I like the visual proof that the photo transferred before I delete it from a card.

Awesome!! Thanks so much for the info guys!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I put all of my photos on Flickr and use my BlackBerry to access them. It does pretty much the same thing as having them local, it just takes a little while to access them. Since this is an Apple thread, I know people who do the same thing with their iTouch and iPhones.

I usually take my laptop to WDW, but had I had my IPod last year when we went, I would not have been deleting photos in front of Cinderella's castle to take pictures of Wishes. Good idea.

I definitely use my iPod to store photos! I love having the pictures with me all the time!

(My iPod is always with me!)
