I was wondering if this would work......

I have an AP and so does my daughter. My husband does not simply because he hates Disney and I could only get him to go every other year.:confused3

I'd like to add the Counter Service dining this time (I have never used any dining plan in the past), but I was wondering if we would be able to do that if I buy my husband's tickets at the gate and both my daugher and I have AP"s???

Thanks for all your help!

:wizard: Hoping for July AP rates soon!

At least one person staying in the room has to have an annual pass (AP) or voucher in order to make reservations under an Annual Passholder rate. Booking the room with an Annual Passholder rate allows you to add dining WITHOUT being required to purchase tickets as part of a package. Not everyone that stays in a room booked under an Annual Passholder rate has to have an AP. When you book an AP room you can then add the dining plan and it will apply to everyone in the room. Does that make sense?

When we have booked with dining in the past it had to be a package. And the package had to include atleast a one day ticket for everyone in the room. We save the one day ticket to apply to our annual pass the following year. In this case, you could upgrade hubby's one day ticket to how many days he would need.

In 2008 Disney started allowing Annual Passholders to add the Disney Dining Plan to reservation that are book at an Annual Passholder rate--i.e. you have to book on-line thru the Annual Passholder site OR call and tell them you have an AP and want to book an AP room. You can then add on the dining package WITHOUT having to buy a ticket for each person in the room.
The availability of the Disney Dining Plan add-on is sometimes limited and you cannot combine it with other types of discounts (AAA, Bounceback, special PIN codes) You can add the dining package (regular, counter or deluxe) to an AP discounted room or one that is booked as rack rate as long as its booked as an AP room. Adding the dining plan makes the booking 'a package' without having the requirement of buying tickets for each person in the room. At least one person in the room MUST have a valid AP or voucher in order to book the room, the AP must be valid at check in. Adding a dining plan to an AP reservation turns it into 'a package w/o tickets' and makes it fall under the terms and conditions of package reservations--you have to pay it in full 45 days in advance, etc.
