Anything ever stolen from you?

Dh came in last night and told me that his trail camera was stolen off a tree. (its a hunters thing that takes pics of animals, motion activated). The kids and I got that for him for Fathers Day...it cost 100 bucks And the crappy thing is, he can see the footprints of whoever did it! And its not like it would be easy to find out there. We live on 40 acres of land So ticked!

Our storage unit was also broken into years ago when we were building our first house. Had EVERYTHING we owned it that unit. I had alot of sentimental stuff taken along with some canned food and TOILETPAPER

What an awful feeling. I had my satellite radio stolen from my car and felt so violated. I hope that you reported the camera stolen. I was talking to a local policeman yesterday for unrelated reasons and mentioned my radio and he told me that even though there was little to no chance of finding the person who did it, it's important to report a crime.

My house was broken into twice in the last month and about $15,000 worth of items were taken. Sad part about it is that we are pretty certain that my cousin was involved in it. ALL of my girls' electronics were taken, that's what makes me so ticked off. Some people just have no conscience.

Sorry you guys for the stuff that was taken. I can imagine its really a hard thing to deal with, when a family member is involved

My SIL is a robbery magnet.

She had their first hired babysitter leave with a backpack full of her bras, jeans and shoes. They contacted the mother and got the items back.

They had their home broken into a week or two before Christmas. Stole many valuable items including ALL of their home movies which they had stuck in a fire proof safe pre-vacation for protection. It also held their only copies of many digital photos of their kids. Never saw any of those items again. Broke her heart and instilled a huge fear of being home alone in their house.

Then, she would say things to me like "I believe one of my daughter's friends stole ______ from me". I would tell her that she was crazy and paranoid. Turns out, she was correct! The child's younger sister told on her. The "friend" had been taking money from the kids' piggy banks, toys, etc. for years!

We had a $5000. trailer stolen from us at our business last year. Just discovered that someone has been emptying the change (about $500. we figure) from our vending machines, also many misc. items along the way. There is a world of dishonest people out there. Sad but true.

We had a break in many years ago. It was in December, they opened up a couple of packages from under the tree but decided they weren't of value and left them. Took my jewelry box. It didn't have very much $$$ value in it but there were a lot of sentimental pieces in there that I had received from grand parents that had passed. Also my baby rings. There were a couple of 14k chains and a nugget bracelet but I was more upset over the worthless stuff that meant more to me.

A weedeater and a bicycle. Both when we lived on base but at different places, right out of the driveway/next to the front door. Freaked me out a little.

My kids have had small toys or a gameboy game stolen from neighbor kids. I find it really hard to let kids come in to play anymore. It's sad.

My mom has had a car stolen, her wallet and her car broken into and random little things stolen.

My beautiful pieced-leather purse was stolen out of my car, in my driveway one night. I was and called the cops. Apparently there had been a rash of them around that same time. This was in a neighborhood where you should feel safe leaving your doors unlocked, for cryin' out loud.

That's terrible! And I know what you mean about being hard to find it, maybe they were trespassing on your land (do you have signs posted?) and happened to hear the "click" of the camera and discovered it that way?

We have one too (the picture of the black bear in my signature was taken with ours) and it's on 30 acres. DH moves it around from time to time so it's not always in the same place.

The only thing I can think of that I've ever had stolen was $60 cash out of my purse. On my wedding day.

I know it's not much but when DH and I first moved in together I was finishing my senior year of high school and working 2 jobs part time. It was our first Christmas together and I was excited because I had worked 39 hours at my one job (a very big deal when your going to school during the day and working another job) I think the check was alittle over $200 - again a very big deal at the time. I was goign to take that entire check to buy ourselves something nice for our new apartment for christmas. I went to the bank on my break cashed the check, (didn't have a bank account at the time) put the cash in my purse and went back to work. I put my purse in a locked safe (which was dumb because every employee had access to the safe - got out of work that night, went home opened my purse and it was all gone.

Yeah, trespassing Deer hunting is so competitive out here. People get so uptight and neurotic about it. To me, if its not your land, STAY OFF OF IT!!!! He does have bright orange NO TRESPASSING AND NO HUNTING signs posted all around the perimeter of the property. He even has a locked chain across the driveway.

Dh does move the camera frequently. My idea is that someone was out there and the camera took a pic of them so they took it. My dh found marjawana(sp ) plants on the next property over, who knows, maybe something illegal caught on camera

We had a our car stolen 9 yrs ago, a week before we closed on the purchase of our house It was recovered 8 days later and the insurance company said it was a total lose. Funny thing is, in our state, insurance only pays 70% of value of a car, so, of course we ended up having to pay the remaining $1200 that was owed on it Yep, some lazy good for nothing takes my car and I had to pay for it literally. Come to think of it, the police were able to get fingerprints from the car....we're still waiting for them to call us back to let us know if they had a match or not

When my son was little, someone stole his brand new bike (he didn't even have it a week). Years after that, on 1 night, someone stole 3 bikes from our property. 2 were my son's and 1 belonged to my daughter's friend.

Someone also stole my daughter's IPod.

Someone also attempted to steal our grill one year. It must have made a lot of noise because they left it in the yard, but did take the propane tank.

Since then, 3 more neighbors have been broken into with liquor stolen. I sent a big long report and pictures to the investigator with everyone's contact numbers on it and nada so far. I'm afraid that next they'll be stealing things to sell for alcohol.

Thought about puting up a deer cam, but didn't think about it getting stolen.

I had my purse stolen as a teenager, I was working a charity event, left it in an office, went back it was gone.
Had a break in at our first house, they sat and had a beer, then took my computer, and quite a bit of clothing.
Most recent was some Gerbera Daisies, 4 of them, right from my garden.

Believe it or not all of this is true.

Fall 1985 taking a customer on a test drive. Got off the freeway pulled up to the stop light he took a gun out of his coat and told me to get out. Never found the car.

Winter 1986. Bought a new Isuzu pick-up drove it home parked it in the driveway, gone the next morning. Was found it in a barn 2500 miles away two years later.

12/23/1999 4 snowmobiles and trailer. Had just picked up two new sleds for my daughters for X-Mass. Parked them at my business location for the night. Someone cut the lock on the gate and took them. I had it all on video camera even the plates numbers but the police didn't find them for almost a year. The two new sleds were wrecked and the others were in bad shape.

2000 when I was in Disney someone broke into my garage at home and stole two motorcycles. Have never been found.

Dec. 2005 another snowmobile at our cabin was taken and wrecked. It also was new with 0 miles on it and when found it had over 900 miles on it. I still have it but it's only worth the parts I can use.

I could not count all the small boat motors, gas cans, batteries, spare tires and so on that have been lifted off my lot over the years (I own a Boat & RV dealership) but it would be many thousands of dollars.

I had a friend who was stealing my little sister's money in her room when he was sleeping at our house

We know it's him since we tested him someday, by leaving ''accidentally'' a 5$ on my sister's desk, by the morning it was gone. And only me, my family and him were in the house that night, and since i'm not the type to borrow wihout permission... And when my sister mentionned during the breakfast how she couldn't find her 5$, he was all like '' Oh really? I wonder where it is? ''

When I was in high school I saved and saved my babysitting money to buy a $75 Guess jean jacket (1986 here, $75 was a LOT of money) and I finally had my prized jacket. For a week, because it got stolen from a high school dance in a neighboring town. For months I would glare at any girl I saw in Guess jean jacket at the mall or movies wondering if she was the one who swiped my jacket.

Years ago a bunch of my girlfriends and I were out clubbing and we had left our purses under the seats in my friends car. In a shady area of the city we were in. We got back to the car at 2am to find a window smashed and our purses gone. I had my license and $ with me so I just had to cancel the credit card I had, no biggie, but one of my friends had pictures of her Dad who died when we were 8 in her wallet.... she was heartbroken.

When I was younger, our house was robbed when we were vacationing in WDW. They took alot of my mother's jewelry.

Funny thing is, the police asked my sister, who was home and at work at the time of the crime, if the person ransacked her room...she reponded no, just haven't cleaned it in a while!

My cousin who lived next door saw the guy running down the street with a pillow case but did not put 2 and 2 together.
