TPA is actually our preferred airport when flying to WDW
smaller, more easily navigated, rental car lines are shorter, flights and car rentals are cheaper, and the ride from Tampa airport to WDW only works out to be about 10 minutes longer and seems much less congested (we've never traveled around rush hour)
we also always rent a car when we go to Disney, so DME at MCO is non-issue
an added benefit for us, is that there are fewer families at TPA, so security is easier and less pre-boarding families with young children (this makes a big difference when traveling Southwest with unassigned seats)
