Anyone disappointed with the servers on the Fantasy?

I believe the Fantasy problem is its size. Our Magic servers had the time to chat and we never felt rushed, even on the first seating. We had a very large group on our June Fantasy cruise and the servers did an excellent job of accommodating us, going beyond the call of duty. However, the close tables created problems for servers and guests. I do wish the servers would lighten up on stressing they want to be excellent. I felt as if I had to give them constant positive reinforcement!

Has anyone cruised on another mega ship, such as the Oasis, and can compare dining service?

We cruised the Fantasy in June and we LOVED our servers! We had Lumila from India, Amran from Thailand and Head Server, Fritz. They were extremely efficient and accommodating. Like a previous poster stated, Fritz was the best Head Server we've ever had. He stopped by our table nightly and also helped with the lobster tails and joked with the kids.

One of the most memorable parts of our recent cruise on The Fantasy were our two servers Lilly and Antonio. They were absolutely amazing and loved our kids (four in the party). We saw them at other times throughout the cruise and they always helped us (my son even threw up on Lilly and she sent us crackers and a lovely note to our room). Two nights some of our party were unable to attend due to sick kids and she sent up a full dinner for the adults included escargot that wasn't even on the menu. The head server Jaime was also good and got that escargot arranged for th last night and we were the only ones in the near vicinity to get them from another dinning room. We had table 82 which was great particularly since it is the big round table in the royal dinning room.

Sadly, we had our first not great server on the Fantasy this 9/22/2012 sailing. It's a hard act to follow when servers have been fantastic for six cruises. Our server was hard to understand. I work with people from multiple countries every day and do not generally have a problem understanding any accent. My admiration for anyone learning english over and above the native language is huge. Especially since I have never taken the time to master another language. So not being exposed to other accents was not an issue for me. He had good recommendations but would ruin the evening by giving us the "excellent" grading speech night after night. It was down right uncomfortable.

We were never once met at the front of the restaurant to escort us to our table. We had to search on our own and one evening had to be shown our table by another server after he saw us walking around in circles. We ate in the MDR the first two nights, then Remy and Palo. We had to fend for ourselves each night we were in a new MDR.

Our assistant server was far better and hopefully on the fast track to be a server. We are very low maintanance and were a table for two. Our cruise was wonderful and these oversights did not ruin anything for us.

We just hope it was a learning curve and next year when we sail, we have a better server.::yes::

We sailed on the Fantasy last month and had Latoya from Jamaica and Ninja (not his real name, but he prefers it) from Thailand. We loved them both and would happily recommend them to anyone. It always surprises and saddens me when I hear about servers on the Disney ships who are less than excellent. I guess we've been lucky, but we've been fortunate to have great servers on our cruises. It really does impact your experience since the MDRs are a pretty big part of the cruise.

It looks like we are in the minority, but after 8 cruises on all 4 ships, including the Fantasy this past June, we have never had a bad serving Team. Obviously some were better than others, but we enjoyed them all, and never had problems as described by PPs. I guess we've just been lucky :thumbsup2. I hope our luck continues as we have 3 more Disney cruises scheduled in the next 9 months.. :cool1:

We had Sepho Zenani from South Africa on our Sept 2 Magic. He was the server and was a wonderful. He was also handsome, and so polite. Our moms(85 & 87) were with us and were quite impressed by him.

Yes that's our Sepho! I am glad to see he is now a server-moved up from asst.
I will have to tell my DDs they loved him!!!!!

Ninja was our assistant server on the MV! He was fantastic! Glad to see he is with someone now who is also just as wonderful. :thumbsup2
