any tips for walking up to Sci-Fi for lunch?

I was hoping for a lunch ADR here but can't seem to luck out. Are there any tips to walking in? What if we got there right at opening?

My tip is to figure out where you'll eat when you don't get in. IF a walkup is going to be accepted it'll be most likely to work if you show up at least 20 minutes before they open and ask then but I wouldn't count on it happening at all. If it does then you'll know that you have received pixie dust and can really enjoy yourselves. If not, you'll at least be prepared and it won't put a damper on your day.

We just did that exact thing last week! We strolled up close to when they opened for lunch. They called us "hitchhikers" and we sat behind another party of two in one of the cars. What a fantastic place. The theming in there is terrific.

They also have small tables for about 4 in the back. Not as fun but I think they put overflow back there.

Going early and prepare to wait would be my advice.

If it is a slower time and they have had no shows you may get seated quickly. But don't count on it.
If time is important to you I wouldn't waste it waiting for a meal at Sci-Fi. It is good, but not worth waiting an hour of park time for. JMO

I would get there around 10:30 or so and see if they are doing walk-ups that day.

DH and I checked in around 10:40 am for our 11 am ADR recently.
As we were sitting there, a few people strolled in to see if they had any openings. The first 2 families that came in got lucky, all of the others that followed were unfortunately turned away! (and there were ALOT of folks that came in around 10:55 am )

If you want to, I would get there as soon as they open to check. It doesn't hurt to check but have a back-up plan just in case they tell you no.

We have done walk up lots of times. Get there right before they open. If your not to many people you will hopefully get lucky. We are only 2 people.
