Today we bring home a new kitten, so I am looking forward to that little joy in my life :)

I know it is silly, but my cat, Alex, brings me so much joy. We make up a whole life for him. I had to rescue him from a teenage mother who wasn't taking care of him. Should we tell him that he is adopted? He also started kindergarden this year. He likes riding the bus. :rotfl: .

I know that it isn't the same as a child because I am still longing and waiting for my first, but it does help in the wait.

Kellyfan (I feel weird just calling you fan ;)) thanks for that. I will keep that in mind. Right now the flow is kind of steady but not super heavy. The cramps come and go. Before I will go in on Monday, I will call them and talk to a nurse. I have our trip in just under 3 weeks, and I want this over before then. I know we still have an u/s scheduled for Thursday so I have a feeling they will be able to look at everything for me then as well.

I will be sure to post pics of the kitten. This will be #3 for us :) I already have pics taken since she was a part of a litter that a stray had. So you can look some here

She's a cutie and when I saw her on Weds, she had grown so much! My DH should be home with the bundle of fuzz w/in the next 30 mins or so :teeth:

TAKitty... shhh... don't tell my babies, but they don't know they are adopted yet. Though Cleo is really starting to get that teenage attitude with me. She's 13 right now and God help me when she is old enough to start HS :rotfl: They really are my joy and Cleo is on my lap at this moment purring away :goodvibes:

I really do appreciate you all here. I think we are both doing okay. As weird as it is, I really don't want to go in to the doc and let them give me hope again. I just can't keep going up and down with this one. I just am assuming that nothing else can be done now.

Elaine...the pics are adorable!! We have 2 dogs (a lab and a pug) - and DH and I are blessed to have them as our "kids" right now. We love them so much - the pug is my little princess pug: and the love of my life. My family thinks I am crazy b/c I worry she will think she is less loved whenever we do have a real baby! ;)

I'm sorry for being annoying asking similar questions but I am so confused since I am new to this whole ttc thing!

OK, I normally have cycles that average around 33 days. They usually fall around that time, but they can be 28 days or even 38 days, it just depends. I had a m/c 8/8, got my first period 9/10, which by the way lasted about 8 long days, and now I am waiting.

This is cd 29, 15 dpo. I took an O predictor and it said I O'd on 9/22, which would be cd 13. Doesn't that seem a little early for someone with an average of 33 day cycles? I also had some O pain 9/23. Anyway, when the test said I O, I had some watery cm and no ewcm. Then about 5 days later, I had the ewcm for about 3 days, but we were done bding for the cycle so we didn't bd. Wasn't I supposed to have the ewcm during O, not after? :confused3

Now I'm wondering what is going on because I got a bfn this morning. Is it very unlikely or even impossible that I am pregnant since it has been around 15 dpo? I even splurged and used one of the ept tests that show your results up to 5 days before missed af.

If I'm not pregnant, that's OK, I just want to know what my chances are or if it's even possible now because I am obsessing over it! I just want to know either way. Ughh!

Hippie- you should start cramping here in the next few weeks. I must warn you- the first cycle after being off the pills is a doozie! Major cramps and heavy flow. Still not as bad as the first after having a child, though! I've been using an ovulation kit b/c it's easier for me to know when. With my first child I did not, though. I charted my cycle, would calculate the halfway mark, and bd at least every other day, sometimes every day, during that week.

This a.m. the hag AF showed up here, one day late. The good news is I'm off work for about 4 days mid-cycle this month. I've been told by a few practitioners that my uterus is tilted back slightly. Does anyone have tips for helping the swimmers to that??? :magnify:

Elaine - I am so sorry to hear your news, and I hate to give up hope so early. I hope everything works out for you.

Hippie - we conceived the first month ttc, without charting or temping or anything else, other than the old fashioned way. Unfortunately, we were only able to bd once during what I guessed was my fertile period, but I guess that was enough. I also had endo, but it doesn't sound as bad as yours. I had the laproscopy 6 years ago, six months' worth of lupron, regular bc for a few years, 6 more months of lupron, then seasonale for the past year or so before ttc. I got my first period exactly 28 days after taking the last pill, so my body just went right back into the swing of things.

Fan of Disney - I've also been told that my uterous is tilted back, but I don't know if there is really anything different you can do. I have to admit, I did lay on my back for ~ 5 mins with my legs in the air, but I'm not really sure if that makes a difference.

Syrreal - funny that you can't stand bananas - neither can I! I can't stand the sight or smell of them!

Becky - I had one of those leg cramps about a month ago - it was killer! But luckily I haven't had another since. I have occaisionally had them before pregnancy, and I feel like it completely immobilizes me. I can barely move to put my foot down like everyone suggests!

Pollito- I totally did the lay on the back with my legs in the air thing! I read probably 10 different books that said it doesn't matter, and in my brain- I knew that it didn't- I mean, most people with unplannned pregnancies probably didn't lay around with their legs propped against the wall! But- it was a compulsion. I felt like I "had" to do it. :lmao:

Oh, the things we do....

Hippie- It really depends on the person I think. I was on BC for 10 yrs and then stopped to wait a few months before TTC. I was regular before and when I stopped there was no change. My period was no lighter or heavier from stopping BC. When we started TTC we didn't use any O predictors or anything. It took us 2 months but I think the 1st month we just weren't doing things right- I miscalculated and we just didn't hit the right days (and we got busy and just didn't do it, etc). Anyway, the next cycle we started doing it the day after my per was over and every other day after that. Next thing I know- pg.

Pollito and Becky- So funny! I did the whole leg up thing a couple of times too. Just in case. ;)

Also to Pollito- The sucky thing is that normally, bananas are some of my fave fruits. But about 2 weeks after I found out I was pg I was eating a banana and couldn't even finish it w/o gagging. Then I tried having some yogurt and couldn't finish the 1st spoonful. Still can't have either one. I went though a no tomato sauce thing for a few weeks but thankfully that didn't last. My biggest thing is that sweets aren't really appealing to me now- only sometimes- and during the 1st tri I couldn't eat anything sweet that it made me puke. I ate a lot of cheese omelets with plain white bread during those months...in fact, I couldn't get enough cheese- chese cubes, string cheese, cheese omelets, cheese sandwiches....

That reminds me of Forest:

shrimp soup, shrimp sandwiches, shrimp cocktail....

Legs UP!! :) I was TTC for 8 months off BC pills before PG. I charted the middle few months but had stopped two months before we got PG. I used the O-kits and I propped my butt up on pillows afterwards. There were months when we BD the days leading up to O, the day before, the day of.... nothing worked. I used Pre-seed...

Nothing.

I hate getting into details about how we got PG! However, use your imagination and we did everything WronG that month and I believe it was my O day though I thought that was a few days before and we were "safe". We used Astroglide. I didn't give those swimmers anytime to get anywhere...

One thing I learned is that apparently I have EWCM about 4 days before O and dry up even before O, odd!!!

i also have very irregular periods- just like you mention above. i did notice however, even though my cycles were irregular, i still ovulated around day 12-13, even if my cycle was only 21 days, or 38 days. it wasn't really in the middle of the cycle, but always seemed around day 12-13. weird huh? i used at home o-kits and always got the same result. so it's very possible i think, that you can o early (or day 11-14), even if you have a super long cycle. it has happened to me. good luck!!

Elaine- hang in there- you are in everyone's thoughts. i am wishing you a ton of baby dust and hope this works out. where are you going on your vacation? disney?

well just in DC for work (i live in dallas). I don't even know what CD i am on, since it doesn't matter this month since we are doing the lap. i am doing it on the 20th and then will go for it again in november! i got super sick this week- missed 2 days of work- a stomach flu was going around and i wanted to die i was so sick. i lost 7 lbs that night (of course put 5lbs back on already!)- i was so dehydrated. i hope m/s won't be that bad!

have a great sunday everyone!

Elaine, I'm so sorry for everything you're going through :grouphug: But your husband sounds wonderful! He sounds like the perfect person to go through this with.

Syrreal - mmmm, cheese.... It's about the only thing I want to eat now. That and tomato soup. The worst part is, I hate tomato soup. I think I'm a freak. :)

CH - when I went off the pill (not to get pregnant, but for migraines) it took about 2 months to get AF again. But when it did come, holy cow. I was almost convinced I might bleed to death :guilty: I think DH was scared of me then.....

Mickeybar - I don't know much about the ovulation predictor things, I never used them. We always went by temps. I had about 35 day cycles once I was on the Clomid and the Glucophage, and generally O'd about day 20 or so. I never did the whole mucus thing either (apparently it doesn't work with Clomid since you don't have any then anyways)

Kellyf2626 - I keep worrying the same about our dogs. They're both great, and do really well with kids, but how will they take it when they're not the center of attention? Especially since they're big ( a lab and a newfie) - they could push a baby around without even meaning to. They still do it to me :)

Has anyone heard how Carla's labs went?

And has anyone heard from Kristy/2bemarried? I haven't seen her around in forever.

Jen

Hey Elaine and Carla I finally rememebered to remember you in the Prayer of the Faithful when they do the private intentions :cool1:

Nice to hear a success with endo! I had a laproscopy five years ago, three months of Lupron, and then went through about five different kinds of pills from 2002-2004 (my last period was June 04). Then Ogestrel continuously for about 18 months (and the last 6 months I was in constant pain but I didn't go back to my gyn because I didn't want another lap), and then (when I finally went) Femara and Yasmin continuously up until Sep. 24. I felt great on the Femara and Yasmin, except my blood pressure went up a little and I had a migraine almost every four weeks. I used to get pain if I even skipped one pill, and I had some pain for the first two days after I quit, but nothing since then, and no AF. So, we'll see what happens.

I'm a little concerned because my gyn is concerned. He wanted DH to take a sperm test, and he wanted us to wait until I had had two cycles before TTC, and use an ovulation prediction kit. He also said I have to come back in six months if I'm not PG yet and go back on the Femara. Well I didn't make DH take the test and we're not waiting, and I don't have an O test. We're just BDing every other day and crossing our fingers. I guess I'll make a decision about the meds in six months.

And zweihund--we're both just shooting blind, huh???

BD......could it stand for Banana Dance?????

I'm actually a little worried about 1 of our cats (Berkley- the 2nd oldest). She thinks that she is really my baby and loves to be picked up like one. She is also a huge attention hog with me. So I'm hoping that she doesn't get all jealous and decides to try and poop in the crib or anything. We're going to keep the baby's room closed to the cats but I'm sure there will be times that they may get in when we're not looking. We just have to try really hard since they will easily think that the crib will be for them instead of for the baby.

Jen- I have a big HYPER lab, and I'm worried about her with the baby, too! Not because I think she'll hurt the baby on purpose, but she hurts me by accident ALL THE TIME. That tail! OUCH! And she loves to stand on my feet, so the tops of my feet are constantly bruised.

I haven't totally figured this one out yet, other than to baby gate her off until she gets used to the baby, and even then, I'll haveto watch her like a hawk. (which really, you have to watch any size dog around a baby, so that's nothing different).

Elaine - How fun to be adopting a kitten! DH and I also have 2 adult cats, and we've just adopted a kitten we've named Marlowe. Our "girls" (as we call them) are sisters from the same litter and are about 10 years old now. Beatrice is the "Queen" (we call her "Queen Bea"), and Rosalind is "Daddy's girl". We weren't planning on adding any cats to our family, but we've started volunteering for our local cat rescue group, and agreed to foster a 6-week old kitten that was found abandoned at a local vets. We were supposed to keep him until he was adopted, but our girls are getting along just fine with baby Marlowe, so we've decided to keep him ourselves! He's just a sweetheart, and so funny! He's totally my baby right now, although he's still in the totally troublesome and into everything stage. He keeps climbing into the recycling bin, pouncing on his big sisters while they are napping, and suddenly darting out from under furniture to pounce on our feet.

So here's a tip for all of you with pets: there's a mesh tent that you can buy to clamp over the crib or a smaller one for pack-n-plays. It's designed to keep cats (or other pets) out of the baby's bed (or keep climbing kids in). I nanny for a 12 month old girl at our house, and I've been using it over her pack-n-play and it works great! Our cats definitely think the baby stuff is for them, so this was totally necessary for us. I have tons of pictures of our cats sitting in the stroller, the exersaucer, the bouncy seat, the pack-n-play, etc. etc.

I need some MIL advice.

She is driving me crazy! She keeps track of my CD and keeps calling and asking if AF is here yet, if I have taken a HPT, what are my symptoms, etc. It is really getting on my nerves. I only want me and DH to know this information! I will tell her when I get a confirmation from my OB that indeed I am pregnant, but until then, I don't need the added stress. She is VERY sensitive, and I know she will be asking again in the next few days. How can I tell her in the nicest way possible to quit asking and we will let her know when we are pregnant? :furious:
