Any members use the DXDDp yet?

Hi everyone! Dh and I just booked our first stay using our DVC points for this June It is our first anniversary.AKV is our home but it was booked so we got a 1bdr pfrd view at the BW which is fitting since we were married there last June.

Anyway the point is we were thinking of adding the deluxe DDP for DVC memebers. Now for me it is a lot of food but Dh is convinced it is worth it. His plan is to use 2 of the meals for a signature dinner almost every night, use the third for lunch. Since we are not huge breakfast people and most likely will just bring some granola bars and fruit it may work.

Any advice, insight or thoughts on the plan?TIA

We're trying it very soon. We have a split stay at BCV/AKV club level. We're using the deluxe for the BCV stay. For a three night stay, we have 3 signature dinners as well as dinner at Le Cellier planned. However, I'm going to try to switch Le Cellier to Tutto. We'll also have a lunch at Chefs and a character breakfast at Akerhaus.

We don't try to maximize what we order but do enjoy using up every single credit. On the regular plan, QS were our challenge as we're not fond of eating CS. This will be fun for us. We really enjoy TS meals.

We have not tried the DDDP yet, but I think they value is still there if eating at the signature restaurants.

We just came back from a three day Dlx DDP anniversary trip. There was a mix-up with the dining plan assigned (they put the standard DDP on) which we didn't realize until the next day when we got up (after a signature dinner the night before) and it was a headache to fix. Luckily we had been waitlisted in the 1st day of our ressie, and they were able to de-link the reservation and setup the last two days for the deluxe plan.

It ended up costing us about $30 more, since we arranged a cash payment for the signature dinner show after the TS credits had been used, and the on site manager credited us 2 of the 3 days of the regular dining plan.

Moral of the story is to double check all your paperwork at check in.

Anyhow, otherwise it was great. If you're going to arrange sit down lunches, along with a signature dinner, it should work out to your advantage, especially if some of those signatures are the show dinners, as they include drinks and gratuities.

For us and our eating habits, even having a quick service lunch followed by a signature dinner would likely break even at the very least. Our dinner receipts at Le Cellier and Surf and Turf club (1 TS) both came out to around $100, so remember to bring some money for tips.

No, the only difference is that we buy the DDP/DxDDP separately rather than as part of a package including resort/tickets as those booking through DRC must do.

We just stayed one night at SSR with the DLxDDP. I wouldn't recommend it for extended stays, but for a one or two nighter it's great. If you check in early on the first day, even if you don't have a room yet, you get your keys, which have the DDP. So, in other words, you have 2 days to use your meal credits. We had a lunch the first day, and a dinner that night. We had another lunch the next day.

One note: check the receipts they give you. Sometimes, the amount used as the basis for a tip recommendation is based on something other than the actual cost of the meal. In our case, we ate at Yak & Yeti, and found that the 3 meals we used were listed on the receipt at something like $32 each, so the recommended tip was based on a $96 total. However, if you added the menu list prices of the appetizers, desserts, drinks, and entrees we had, the amount was more like $125-$130. I don't know if this had to do with the fact that Yak & Yeti is not actually run by Disney or not, but I suspect so. It looks like Disney agrees to pay some flat rate to Landry for the ddp meals, and that is the amount that comes up on the receipt. We also had meals at Mama Melrose's and at the Turf Club, and we really didn't notice there what figures were used to recommend the tip. But if you follow the recommendation you might actually be shortchanging the server. Just a heads up!

We used it last month for a 6 night stay at BWV. We moved over to AKV for 2 more nights and the day we moved we finished our credits up at Boma.

Our trip this time had no kids , so we thought it was now or never to try the Deluxe plan. We used it for many 2 credit places and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It cost us $840.00 and we ordered just over $1300.00 in food . We kept all our receipts. This did not include tips and booze , which was another $600.00.

We are glad we tried it , but probably won't do it again. Depending on the type of trip it will be regular DDP or maybe just the DDE or none at all.
