Any luck with VWL add-ons lately?

I have been casually looking for 50-100 point contracts for VWL. They are pretty darn scarce. Just wondering if DVC has been buying back points and breaking up contracts to offer add-ons as they did prior to SSR? Is it worth contacting my DVC guide to get on a list for VWL add-ons?

I think it is worth getting on the list for VWL. I think Sept is a pretty tough month, but Aug is not so tough. It may just depend on your UY.

We were trying to get Sept points thru DVC, and waited SIX months with nothing. We then went and bought a resale contract w/an Aug UY. When my guide found out, he said "Rebeca...I HAVE Aug points!" Oh well...what you don't ask, you don't know. Now, granted that was last Oct....but, I definitely think adding on VWL via DVC is doable.

Good luck,

 Thanks for the encouragement. I am looking for Dec U.Y. and they seem to be really slim pickins through the resalers. I will call my guide to enquire- I just did not even know if it was worth the call- so thanks!

get on the list!!! I waited from June to October for a March use year and I only wanted 35 points. Got them, of course paid more, 89 per point, but I really don't think resales are worthwhile on smaller contracts. If you can find them great, but buying them direct from Disney is so easy and no headaches.

I just got off the phone with a DVC guide about just this subject- trying to buy a 50 or 100 pt add-on for VWL. We have a June use year. He was VERY discouraging about the prospects of ever getting these points, or points at BCV or BWV. He told me they almost never become available.

He also told me that to get on the wait list you have to first pay the downpayment for the points and that IF they ever become available they will process them automatically.

Does this sound right, or was he trying to steer me into SSR? :confused3

Who knows!!! The way things are going on ROFR right now, it seems that DVC is buying up SOOO many properties, that people on the wait list may be accomodated VERY quickly!! DVC is buying VWL properties like crazy right now...those points have to go to someone!!! So, yes...I think your guide is wrong.

Also, he is wrong about the $500 deposit being charged when you get on the list. It is charged when your points come thru....I think that is DEFINITELY a ploy to get you to buy SSR!!!

I got 100Dec. VWL points in November with no wait, however I've been on the waitlist for 30 VWL points for about a month now. I'm waiting for either Dec or Feb because I have 2 contracts. I'll pm you if I get the call:)

Synonymous... your credit card only gets charged when the points become available. Seems your guide is confused or pushing you towards SSR:(

Thanks for the response, folks. That did seem awfully fishy. I'm hoping maybe I just misunderstood him. He's not my regular guide (every time I call she seems to be on "medical leave.") Maybe I'll try again. I don't mind at all if they don't charge you anything unless it comes through.

You must have the same guide we do! She's on medical leave and my stuff never was handled! Finally, got my stuff out with many apologies from others.
