Yes, I shop there a lot and their Nordstrom is the only one that has a day spa. I go there to get manicures or pedicures. :) The sales ladies call me Juicy Girl whenever they see me. ;) They remodeled that mall and I'm not too fond of the design and layout. I do like their GAP and I love Sanrio there. :yay: If you are going with kids, they have a merry go-round that's really cute. It's located in front of Target and Sanrio. :)

There is also a shop that opened up called Kira Plastinia (sp?). Apparently she is a 16 yr old girl from Russia who has her own clothing line.

I hope you have fun there :goodvibes:

What other big department stores are there?

Hi, Seanaci! And welcome to the hyena (DL chat) thread! :)

I got these on sale online through a company called Campmor; the total (incl. shipping) is only $32! I figured that wasn't too shabby considering the regular price (not incl. shipping) is $40. :thumbsup2

Though this is the most I've ever spent for a pair of flipflops in my life. They'd better feel fabulous! :rotfl:

Sweet! I need a new pair of Croc flops. :P Would love a new pair before we go on vacay. But...tennis shoes are going to cost me around $60 (I wear nothing but Skechers)...so it probably won't happen.

I want thanks giving dinner NOW!!! Im hungry for Turkey... and Stuffing. and MASHED POTATOES. oooohh.. and GRAVY. LOTS AND LOTS of GRAVY. I also want some nachos. With steak. Like the ones they have at Whitewater Snacks.. And a bacon, peanut butter and chocolate chip sandwich. Toasted. Yum..

:lmao: :lmao:
Oh that's terrible.. and funny as heck too. :rotfl:

Let me introduce you to this cool thing called Motomail, if he is co-located with Marines you can send letters and photos for free via an email system.

I type up a letter, send it out. It gets received at a station in Iraq, staff prints it out and they hand deliver it to my DN. Usually it only takes a few hours to reach the print station.

It's only one way communication but it's free and faster than a mailed letter. :goodvibes

Cool, but he's Army. He's in the highly dangerous job of Human Resources Specialist! He pretty much is in front of a computer most of the day, so getting ahold of him is pretty easy.

Where can i find a good tamale recipe?

Mexico?

I failed at quitting my job at Disneyland. :'(

Is that like being too efficient? Or being too rich?

We had two big chain latino grocery stores in Moreno Valley, one was really good - cheap and the deli food was excellent. The other is a bigger chain, but the prices were ungodly expensive. And the food was bland! :confused3 It was weird.

But here, we would need to go to certain areas of the metro. Southern St Paul, Lake Street in minneapolis.

We have a very small latino grocery store- mom and pop type.. but it doesn't look very well kept.

I can buy masa harina and the corn husks at Cub (big chain grocery) and they might have tiny package of premade tamales from a local vendor in the deli case.

Kinda sad considering the demographics have changed in the last 5 years around the metro area. There are enough families to support a large store.

Hmmm...we have a mexican grocery store right across from the post office. I am going to have to check it out and see what they have in there.

Takes alot of searching sometimes. There is a cinnamon roll recipe that I loved.. and lost. Tried to find one on the site-- not the same thing. Even the advanced ingredient search kept giving me oddballs that weren't even close (non yeast type).

I think I will try to piece one together with a biscuit dough recipe.. but not sure if that is right either. I've been craving them for a long time :guilty:

If I want cinnamon rolls then I just make dough in the bread maker, throw in cinnamon and raisins when it beeps, let it rise, but take it out before it bakes. Roll it out, make into cinnamon rolls, let rise and bake. Much neater and quicker.

i put in my 2 weeks and ended up getting a promotion... :|

I put in 20 years and got a promotion once.:thumbsup2

Thats nothing. One year.. a guy dh worked with got a $.09 raise.

Those kinds of raises used to be common at Panasonic. When they had over 500 employees, they had lots of minimum wage, non english speaking workers. DH was told you can give say $100 per hour worth of raises to your department. Some people that were really good might get $1, some that weren't might get 5 cents. Very rarely did anyone ever get nothing. But sometimes they just weren't pulling their weight. Anyway, since many didn't speak english, DH had a hard time giving them evaluations and telling them how much their raise was. So he finally kept a handful of change...they could county money! So if their raise was a quarter, he showed them a quarter.:lmao: Money, the true universal language!

Ugh... Dont remind me. I had hoped to stay home, and hang with my family. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. We are EXPECTED to go to my grandma's house. :headache: I dont want to go. I WANT to stay home. I told my mom I wanted to stay home. But she doesnt care..

So what I plan on doing is showing up right before the food... and leaving right after. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We are taking our travel trailer to my inlaws house and parking in the driveway. Then when the house full of people start annoying me...I retreat to my haven, read a book, watch tv and have complete silence until someone finds me an hour or two later.:thumbsup2

Would you settle for an oatmeal raisin granola bar? That's what I just had.:thumbsup2

ATTENTION FRED MEYER SHOPPERS! This means you Alex...Freddies has Coffeemate on sale 3/$5 or $1.67 each. You can go to the Coffeemate website and get a coupon good for $1 off. End price for Italian Sweet Cream $0.67.:thumbsup2

So would anyone care to help me strangle my DD? I believe that I have justifiable cause.

Sunday I was looking thru the newspaper at the new car ads. I commented to DH about how cheap brand new cars were. The $25K Mustang I wanted last year is now $15K. We even seen an ad for a brand new 2008 PT Cruiser for $8,900.

Now I know that we will probably need to buy DD a decent newer car when she goes away to college in a year and a half. So we were discussing buying her a new car now while the prices are low. Why spend $6K on a used Honda Accord when you can get a brand new car for $9K was our thought. So we call her out and tell her about the car prices.

When I tell her about the PT Cruiser she looks at me and say's "those cars are ugly". I kind of laughed and said, well kinda, but it would be brand new, very dependable and something you could take to college. She looks at me and says "I won't accept it".

WHAT??!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Needless to say DH and I were both floored. HE double toothpicks is going to freeze over before I get her a car now. Can you believe that she said that? Here we are offering to buy a 16yo a brand new car and that's her response. She can now consider herself lucky if we loan her the 150,000 mile beat up Ford Ranger to drive!!!!!!!!!!!

For the first time in my life I can say I am totally disappointed and disgusted with one of my children. Makes me wonder where in the world she was raised and just what she is thinking!

:scared1: OMG. NO SHE DIDNT. I was THRILLED when I got my first car.. I bought my dads car from him.. for $3500. I got a 2yo Ford Escort. NOT a bad deal. Then when I graduated... My parents bought me a brand new car. a FORD ESCORT. I was so happy I CRIED. YES. Over a Ford Escort. I had that car until we bought our Toyota Matrix. Last year. It had 150,000 miles on it. I brought home both my kids from the hospital in it.

Im sorry. I cant imagine what she was thinking. Buy her a pair of rollerskates and call it good.

Me TO! My kids are good veggie eaters, but my husband isnt so much.. So add in a bunch of veggies so he wont know he is being healthy. :rotfl2:

My DH likes veggies, as long as you serve meat with them. I made some vegetable barley soup this weekend and he said...seems to be missing something...LIKE MEAT!:rotfl2:

And here was my conversation with DD this morning:

Me: Can I help you make lunch?
DD: Sure.
Me: How about a bowl of that homemade soup? Do they still have microwaves in the Student Lounges at Clark College?
DD: Yes, but I won't use them.
Me: :confused3 (what is that a nerd thing now??) OK, how about boiled eggs?
DD: Everybody (ie. Mom & Dad) keeps forgetting to make them.
Me: Well you know how to boil eggs. Why don't you boil some this afternoon when you get home.
DD: Whatever!
DD: Can I just have some money to buy lunch, we have NOTHING to eat in this house.
Me: I don't have any money. Hey, didn't Dad give you money yesterday, what happened to that?
DD: It's in my bedroom and I don't feel like walking that far.
Me: Fine, starve.
DD: You probably would let me starve!! (eyes rolling and door slamming)
Me: Silently wondering how I can kill her and leave no trace.:lmao:

You know we've always tried to teach the kids to be thankful and appreciative. I am totally appalled at her behavior and some of the things that come out of her mouth lately. I'm sure it's a teenager thing, because I know that's not how we raised her. But still it is frustrating and makes me want to buy her a pair of rollerskates, take the long shoelaces out and strangle her with them!:rotfl:

I cant WAIT for Mikalah to be a teen. :headache: She is going to be HORRID. I can feel it.

And I would also like to add that we have TONS to eat in our house. So much food that my pantry is bursting at the seams. So tonight after dinner I am going to inform her that she should make her lunch the night before...then she has plenty of time to boil eggs or whatever she needs for lunch now that she no longer will eat bread or apparently use public microwaves!

:lmao: I know! I try to do the same thing with my kids. We dont have a lot of money.. but try to make sure the kids have cool stuff.. you know? I tell them that they need to be grateful, and appreciate what they have. Not all kids get to go to Disneyland.. Or have cool video games.. or WHATEVER. You know? Thats why it just kills me when Alex acts like it is expected that he gets whatever he wants. :headache:

:lmao: My husband is like that. If it isnt ready made for him to just grab and go.. We dont have anything to eat. DUDE! It will take you 5 minutes to make something. :rotfl2:
