Another Early Entry Question

Sorry to post another Early Entry question. We were last at Universal the year The Harry Potter area opened. We stayed at the Hard Rock and I remember being upset that the gate you used to walk to the parks (the one by the pool) did not open that early. We had to turn around walk back and through the hotel to get out. Does anyone know if this has changed? Just trying to save some steps.

You can also use the pathway by taking the exit that is past the work out room and arcade (to the left of Emack and Bolios on the bottom level). It will take you out to the boat dock and you just follow the path to the park.
