Annual Passholder Previews REGISTRATION LINK IN FIRST POST-EVENT FULLY BOOKED

@Ferrentinos They are wrong about what you put in bold. That may be their intention but it is not how "the system" works. This is why their same response regarding the preview sign up is in doubt.

And in addition, the mods have requested everyone stop posting any responses from CM so odds are high this post will not stay in the thread
I do apologize - I did not realize that I made that mistake of going against what the mods had asked. I will refrain from doing that in the future. I'll go back and edit my post.

I have further emailed with them and the responses have also included more incorrect information about what I can or cannot book online with only a voucher. It is obvious that even the some CM's don't know what the "system" can do.

The posted policy clearly states the requirement for an activated eligible pass. Posters who've asked Disney have been consistently told the same thing.

Posters are speculating that Disneys system won't be checking. I believe this is the first AP event excluding gold passholders. It's possible, maybe likely, Disney is revising system for registration for this event.

YMMV

I really do think that their intention is a voucher can't work. The people that answer questions regarding them obviously don't have vouchers themselves (they are CM so unlikely to have AP too) so they never try to do anything using them. So no first-hand knowledge that the system doesn't have the limitations they think it does. The only reason people here know more is that actually do have AP, including vouchers, and use the system so they can give first-hand reports.

Yeah, anything is possible but it ain't likely. Yet you don't mention that they've said the same thing for years. That you can't book anything without an activated pass. It's been wrong for years too. Can't you at least acknowledge that they've been wrong about that for years? And it's equally as possible they are wrong now? I'm playing the odds, nothing more.

A revision would be interesting.

Very true - the people on these boards are frequent flyers when it comes to use MDE and what we can and cannot do on it.

I think this may be the first time they've limited such a Preview event to specific categories of passholder only? If that's the case, they might have had to write new specific code to validate the applications, and if so I'd put money on it being a simple patch which perhaps may not be implemented to cross-check with both the pre-order system as well as the live system. Now whether that functionality would be deliberate (to cut down on potential applicants) or just laziness (which could be fixed), I don't know. Pure guesswork anyway.

A few posters seem to think a voucher will work, despite written rules to the contrary.

Do you think gold passes will also work? Same logic.

I agree if you have a voucher give it a shot. Worse case scenario you show up and find out your reservation was canceled

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s the same logic. Gold won’t work

No, pretty sure that is not how it will work. They would be able to check the level of pass used, just perhaps not voucher vs. activation. Also, when you go to check in and have your AP and ID in hand, they might be scanning your magicband or pass to determine its level. They will have ways, and since they specifically said no golds, I would assume that means ‘no golds’.

Worst case scenario is actually paying for a hotel, plane ticket, car, gas, food, amenities, and showing up at the doorstep of SWGE and Disney saying get lost. I think that would be worse.

It's not rocket science. If the AP has an expiration date more then a year from today it's not activated. Less then a year its activated. That's assuming there isn't a field that shows activation status, then its easier.

The activation rule is clear. Checking isn't hard. We have no idea if Disney cares to check.

Well, I know the TSL was post opening, not preview, but you had to be gold or higher if I remember correctly. I know it wouldn’t let me sign up my family with silver APs for that one. That is the only experience I have with trying to sign up anyone less than a platinum, which is what I have. Of course, it’s always possible their site was just glitchy that day and others signed up silvers with no problem. This is Disney, after all.

Yes, they have limited the sign-ups in the past. And that still let vouchers sign up, despite their saying they could not

Through 170 pages we've yet to solve the activated AP/voucher topic. It's a good/valid question of course, but generally speaking the tea leaves seem to indicate we're just not going to have resolution until sign ups start and we all see what Disney has in store for us.

But anyways, it's almost Monday here on the US east coast. Back for another week. :yo-yo:

If delaying activation is important to someone, why not just try to sign up with the voucher and activate if it fails?

There is a chance it will sell out while activating, so there's some risk. But I don't think pretending you know how this will all work in advance is reliable either.

Well, if it turns out you are correct then you did know and it was reliable. /wink

You have to be physically present at Disney to activate, and this event will sell out in less than a day most likely so there is no way out of state people could even have a chance of activating it.

Apologize if this is been answered before - if you do get the opportunity to sign up but you can’t make the trip can you cancel so someone else can get the tickets? We have activated plat AP’s like many do from that dvc deal but If it’s really short notice I’m sure people will sign up and then try to arrange travel later.
