Apologize if this is been answered before - if you do get the opportunity to sign up but you can’t make the trip can you cancel so someone else can get the tickets? We have activated plat AP’s like many do from that dvc deal but If it’s really short notice I’m sure people will sign up and then try to arrange travel later.
You can try, but there’s no guarantee it actually works. I signed up the day registration opened for the Typhoon Lagoon event in June thinking I could tweak my trip to go since it was the day before we had planned to arrive, but then I couldn’t get the flights to work. I emailed the VIPassholder support the very next day to cancel and they confirmed my cancellation... but then two days before the event, I got a reminder with my reservation details and additional check in instructions, so clearly we were never cancelled.

For the two AP previews/post views of recent times - Pandora and TSL - there were no cancellations and no opening of spots to others later on. I would expect the same here - Disney isn’t likely to devote resources needed to maintain wait lists, deal with cancellations, etc. While anything is possible, there’s no precedent to really go by.

This is helpful to know - thank you for sharing this. I was wondering - if they don't let me book a preview with my voucher, maybe I'll be able to talk to concierge once we arrive and activate our passes with the thought that someone may cancel in the meantime. But that doesn't seem likely at all given past history. Thanks for sharing this!

It's likely Disney "overbooks" events like this. No reason to track cancellations and maintain wait lists. Overbook enough to cover projected no shows. Every passholder with a reservation shows up the preview is a bit more crowded. It's not like an airline which has to bump a passenger or a hotel which has to walk a guest.

No problem. Not saying that random moments of pixie dust in some form don’t happen at rare times... but generally speaking the deal with these events in the past has been pretty black/white... you’re either in or out and there are no adjustments once slots are full. That’s why many of us are watching the sign-ups so closely... it’s effectively your one shot to get it right. :-)

We also need to remember why Disney (at a corporate level) probably does these kind of things in the first place. It's not to be "fair" to Passholders, or because they feel they owe anyone anything, it is purely a business expediency to help start testing the infrastructure of their new land with controllable crowd levels, with the nice byproduct of generating extra word-of-mouth/social-media publicity.

As such, as long as they get the amount of bodies through the gate that they want, they probably don't want to spend very much time or effort over the details of how that happens.

I apologize if this had already been asked/answered, but can those of you who just the voucher (not activated) book fastpasses 60 days out without having an “active ticket”? I don’t know if Disney can assimilate their sign ups based on that or not, just curious more than anything :) Thanks!

Yes, voucher holders can book FPs just as if it were an ‘active’ ticket.

Yes. I have a voucher and I was able to do my fastpasses at 60 days without any issues.

There is nothing I can do with an activated AP that I can't do with a voucher. I expect this will work the same and based on previous history, there's no reason to think it won't. How they track your AP level yet not seem to have the ability to track active vs non active is something none of us know.

One thing about an annual pass that isn't activated yet is that you can reassign it to someone else. Maybe that plays into the reason why Disney has decided to include only activated annual passes in the preview.

Yes, and you can also book things like discounted event tickets such as Disney Villains After Hours and H2O Glow Nights, you just need to login using your MDE credentials and have your AP voucher already linked to the account.

This is why it seems so strange that they are trying to blame "technical reasons" for not allowing AP pre-paid voucher holders to reserve slots for the SWGE preview (we shall have to see what actually ends up happening of course).

I have pointed this out to a supervisor in the VIPassholders Support Team, but not had a reply yet. He did previously mention the potential issue of vouchers being re-assigned to other guests after you have completed your event registration, but bookings like the above, hotel discounts, etc all could be said to have the same issue, hence why they will verify active passes and photo ID on the day of use.

I mean, I own .05% of a share of Disney, so I feel that they should be fair to me. I know my .05 is gonna take me places :rotfl2:

Im getting so nervous about getting emails. I changed the account from my boyfriend's email to mine (since I spend all day on the computer for work) and I never got the Galaxy's Edge email everyone else got over the weekend. It never went to his email that was previously associated either. I really hope this won't hurt my ability to get us in.

People got an email over the weekend?

I'm sure that one hand of Disney intends for vouchers not to be allowed to register for this or to see discounts and book them online for whatever reason they have. It's the other hand that is the problem- the one that either can't or just doesn't actually implement what is neccesary for them to enforce that. They have said the same thing for other events- can't register- but people did and it worked.

I’ve received 4 of the VIPassholder emails over the past year for the events and didn’t receive an email over the weekend, I don’t know if that’s a good indication or not! I’ve done two different passholder events at magic kingdom and one at Typhoon Lagoon.

I didn't get the email either. I've never gotten passholder related emails. That's why I've been more dutiful in checking out this thread. I'm also sticking with the groupme since I'll get notifications from there before I'd likely get an email notification, assuming I even get one.

And same with my boyfriend. When it was connected to his email, we always got the Passholder event emails but not usually anything else that I know of so good point.
