Animal Kingdom night hours? September?!

The first week they have added them to 11 already so Im hoping they keep doing it. I really want to experience it. Less crowds is great for those that go :) Fingers crossed!!

I agree. Being at Animal Kingdom at night is probably my top wish, but the skeptic in me says that the hours were extended to 11:00 until September 5th because that is Labor Day weekend. After that, crowds die down and they might not see any reason to extend the hours, especially since crowds have already been so low at night time AK even during busy times.

I could totally be wrong, and I hope I am :).

A couple other things that make me skeptical about night time AK is that several other things have already been extended past September 5th, like the Star Wars fireworks.

Fingers crossed for Sept travelers! But my crystal ball is pretty foggy on this prediction. . . I definitely think 5pm closings will be a thing of the past, but I'm not sure they'll stick with 11 before Rivers of Light is fixed and Avatar is built. Even though the first week of Sept is still very late, I think that could be a "last week of summer" since it's Labor Day week, and last week of late summer hours. It does seem weird, though, to bother with a 7-8 close. Either stay open for some actual dark hours (past 7:30 that time of year) or else the 5-7 hours are kind of pointless.

I finally made a decision with regards to AK. Having switched from lunch to dinner (as late as possible) at Tiffins, I cancelled and went with lunch at Yak and Yeti and I booked fps for the Safari, Kali and EE before lunch then I'm cutting out for Break then night time at MK to see the fireworks and parade. I'll stay when ROL opens. Now, if they do the Jungle Book I may do that even though I have heard how awful it is.

I doubt they will go to 11:00 past Labor Day unless RoL comes out. Big question is if Jungle Book will continue. If it doesn't, it may be early.

I'm questioning how much time to spend at AK too. With Food and Wine festival tickets the same day I'm planning AK, it's hard to decide if it's worth going back to AK for the evening spectacles. The few reviews I've read did not give me the warm and fuzzy feelings that it's worth sticking around for the evening stuff. They just love to make it harder for those of us who would know what we're looking for and would like to plan it and forget about it

I was recently told that JB will not continue. Also, they are testing ROL during the day now(today). Maybe a Sept. debut for ROL?!

Please let us know if you do find out that this is true! That information would definitely help me make a decision on where to spend our park time. :)

We were lucky to score reservations to the nighttime DVC event at AK in September. May be the only way for us to see the park at night for a while.

Similar situations! We have a Tiffins reservation at 5 but if late hours come out we will scrap that to go relax at AKL (where we are staying too) and then go back to the parks late to do some night time rides.

We arrive on the 10th and I'm in the exact same boat with reservations all over the place due to Star Wars dessert party and AK closing time / shows. We're also staying at AKL so see you there!
