From what I understand the bedroom stays the same throughout the game. The first house upgrade is a larger downstairs. Then you get an upstairs room, then you get a basement. When you pay off the mortgage from that, the you get a flag for your house. Then that's it... I think...

I am working on paying off (what I think is) my last house upgrade, I have the basement, but no flag.

I also have a new bridge. Do you only get one new bridge ever? I would really like more bridges. I understand that the next town upgrade is the fountain. ??

I think you upgrade the downstairs twice.

The last mortage you pay is like 598,000 bells. Then after that you get the flag, I think its when your basement is paid off. I know my downstairs got upgraded twice. Sorry to all for not being around. School started this week along with working and its been kind of hectic, darn real life for getting in the way of my AC time! I have a few people to add friend codes for!

Yes, the bedroom stays the same. You can't ever use the room except just as a place to save.

You do only get the one new bridge, then the fountain. After that, if you keep donating, you can get either a windmill or a lighthouse.

I was hoping that the upstairs (the bedroom) would get bigger, but just for save only. I can't wait to see what a basement would look like!

My daughter bought a big tub/jacuzzi and she put it in her little cozy house. It's kind of tight in her house. I was hoping that there would be a bathroom added when you upgrade. A tub in her living room.. sounds odd, however, I have seen beds and stoves in the living room in some neighbors. I guess it's a one big open studio for the kitchen/bedroom/living room.

I don't know how many of you played the game boy version but does anyone else wish the houses had multiple rooms like the game boy version did? I would like to have like a kitchen, bathroom, things like that... im a girl, I like to decorate!

Oh and, when you all get to the point, if you haven't already, to get either the lighthouse or windmill, go for the windmill. It is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have any idea how to get other fruits other than native fruits and coconuts? I've read on gamefaqs that if you mail someone in your town a native fruit, they'll send you a different fruit. I've sent like 30 letters with apples and I've gotten lots of furniture and clothes, but no other fruits.

Anyone have some advice or other trick?

I did read some where to send flower seeds - tried that with no luck.

My DH is having trouble hooking up the Wi-Fi and I'm going bonkers here!

I played the Gamecube version and the DS version, now this one.

I liked on the DS version that the house would have mulitple rooms off the main floor, a room for everything. Right now I have the giant tub sitting in my one room, looks odd...like I have a bathroom only home.

The other thing I wish this one had is from the original version...seperate cities. DD is a little more free with her city than mine (weeds get picked when I visit, trash all over...my town complete opposite-no weeds, no trash). Drives me nuts that I have to share a town with her! One night she went through and picked all our oranges, left none for anyone else . Liked it better when she had her own town! Plus we could visit each other and get new fruit that way (haven't been brave enough to venture outside my town yet).

I think i'm all caught up on adding friends.. I'm gonna open my gates if anyone wants to come over. I'm just working on paying off my 600,000 mortgage... and yes i'm time traveling a day or 2 at a time to get it done

I just upgraded my house to a second floor. I wish I could pay my RL mortgage off this fast. As for the bedroom you can switch out the bed. You stand at the foot of it and it will ask you if you want to swap beds. I bought myself a full size as I felt the twin was a little too small for my liking.

I'm logging on and I will add the last few codes that were posted. I will open my town if anyone wants to stop over for a visit.

No, I have never played any of these games before. But I sure am having fun playing this one!

Thanks for the info about the windmill!! Now I just hope I remember it when the time comes! I am still working on the fountain.

I have been sending my native fruit in my letters. I get back clothes, furniture and different fruits. I have been sending letters everyday. I love getting mail!

my update: Horse Mackerel is what we're fishing for today!! It's the fishing tournament today! So far I'm leading (playing against my family).. 18.3 measurement. Chip the one that measures gave me a red vase. ...still playing.

I am in the lead so far with a 7 incher! I have no idea if 7 inches is good or not, but I am in the lead so far!

Thanks... good luck to you as well! It's nice to know what's going on around in different towns. I'm no longer leading... I'm in the second place right now. I have until 6pm to beat an 18.5 measurement horse mackerel.

I didn't do too bad. I ended up with an 18.8 measurement. I got a silver trophy! and on top of that.. I got a very nice vase and an armoire. Not bad for participating! It was fun!
