I had to laugh at myself this morning..... the last stretch of road before I get to work starts out a 30 mph zone (who could ever go that slow??) and then moves to 40
(yawn).
Well today when I turned on to it, right ahead of me was a police car, so I stopped and took my shoe off to keep it from weighing the accelerator down so much and crawled patiently
along at a whopping 30 mph behind him....... gained a bunch of speed at 40
*yawn* and continued the "speedy" trek. But then luck struck and the police car chose the turn lane at the next intersection. HE WAS TURNING OFF!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!
I crawled past him at precisely 40.0001 mph and watched intently in my rear-view mirror until he made a complete U-turn and went the other way...... his dust had barely settled when I increased my speed and continued on to work as normal. And then I laughed..... I thought "I'm just like a defiant child..... acting all prim and proper and innocent while waiting patiently and watching in anticipation as mom leaves the room.... the sight of her back still being transmitted from my eyes to my brain before I strike with disobedience!"
And I was so NOT like that...... I was afraid to do anything wrong even if no one was around.
