An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

This struck me as "Blankistan" :lmao::lmao:

At least I know you would appreciate it !!!!!

Congrats on starting the c25k program. When I started it a year ago, I was pretty convinced that my lungs were going to explode somewhere along the line. It does get much easier.

You should be able to do a search for different C25K programs for your mp3. I used the Ulrey one for week 1, but I knew I had to find something else. I found one that was to rap/R&B/pop music. Not all the songs in it were always exactly my cup of tea lyric wise, but they had great beats and a few of them I'd find myself singing along with. The right music really makes a difference.

Thanks, Crissy! I'm glad it's supposed to get easier. But supposed to, is a word quite liberally used.... Time will certainly tell. :lmao:

I actually have 2 mixes downloaded to my iPod right now. One is completely techno, the other has other stuff too. I don't remember the names of either, but I saw a Christian mix there too, that I may also put on. Clearly I'm going to need several weeks for Week 1 so the more the better. I think they should have even one more program out there called "Slug To Something Better". :rotfl2:

That's awesome that you started your exercise program. Good job.

When you're out running and it hurts, and you're wondering "why am I doing this?" Go through that list of reasons in your mind. You'll also probably be able to add another 20 or 30. Seriously.

The weather just turned really nice here, but I'm not out running. :sad2: I had a meeting that went halfway through lunch, and I need to leave early. Hopefully tomorrow.

I'm feeling good that I started and even better that I could do it- even though I was pretty sure there was an eminent infarc waiting to happen.

Then my work here is done. :darth:

I think I've figured out your ADR challenge. (Of course I'll probably forget to actually post an answer.)

Oh, and I like your creative plumbing technique. :thumbsup2

And congrats on the exercise. Whenver I feel the urge to lose weight, I just go get a haircut. Instant gratification my friend. Looking forward to more clues.

NOw that I'm halfway done with today's replies, I'm realizing that I've already responded to these and now, I'm just going to continue to make it look like I HAVE had my coffee, I AM thinking clearly and all that rot, and maybe no one will notice that I'm making a complete buffoon of myself (again). :lmao:

i cant believe you started c25k today, i wish you lived here. me and 4 girlfriends are heading to the park to walk in one hour(shhhh....i have downloaded the c25k program and want to trick them into it) i really want to run a 1/2 at disney some day, but i am just not a runner. i can walk like a champ but running:eek:
wish me luck and i would love to hear your progress

See? Again, I've already repsonded to this one too. But that's OK- another chance to hi howdy, Kim!

Ohh, I like this game! I so know the answer for the first one and I narrowed it down to 2 for the second round. I might actually get one of your games right.:lmao:
Hope your neck is feeling better. Congrats on deciding to get more in shape. You can do it! You'll feel much better with yourself and be happy with the end result.:goodvibes
Basketball in the toilet?!?! :scared1: I was close to needing one. We had a huge backup with a broken pipe or something and the plumbing company wanted me to wait 10 days. Um, manager please. I got the whole thing fixed today. Mickey won't like the bill, however.:guilty:

Yup!! Hi Barbara!! Here's ANOTHER reply to your already replied to post. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Great!! I will note the dates in my calendar then! Getting a train any time after 8:30 shouldn't be a problem. FRA has a central bagage claim place and by the time you make your way there, your bags should be arriving soon. I have never seen really long lines at passport control at any German Airport, so that shouldn't take too much time and customs is a breeze: If you have nothing to declare you just leave bagage claim through the green channel and you are all set. When I lived in Frankfurt I often made it from touch down and on to the local train within 30 minutes.

But I think you already know that - you have already been in Frankfurt in the city... So you know the airport...

And I am glad that you get two FULL nights! Half nights would mess up your get lag even more...

NO, you're right, Passport control is a breeze in German airports- VERY efficient! :thumbsup2 I think our time will be eaten up trying to find the luggage storage place. We did it once, and it wasn't easy to find and took a while to get everything checked in and paper work filled out. We'll shoot for a 9:00 train.

2 full nights is going to fabby!! Getting horizontal after a long flight is so great!!

Good Evening Liesa! I thought I posted last night, but I guess not :confused3

Good for you on the fitness regime!:thumbsup2 I've just started my own quest for a healthier body - and my reasons sound a lot like yours. Its annoying when you tell people that you are starting a diet or new workout and they look at you funny and say, "Why? You're not overweight" I know, I'm not overweight - but the weight I do have is entirely mush! And I'm WEAK! Scott thought it was just hi-larious that I was sore for days after we went bowling. Okay, I know that's pretty funny.:goodvibes Anyway - I just feel like I need to be taking better care of myself. And yes, a big motivator is our looming (well, not so looming - I have six months;)) WDW trip. I want to have a lot of energy and not get a backache from carrying a 1.5 pound baggalini! So, I'm with ya! I have cut back on the cookies (I would have cut them out entirely, but it is Girl Scout cookie season) and started working out everday. Some days I do a workout dvd at home, some days I walk, and I've gone to Zumba at the gym a few times. I've only been doing this for about 3 weeks, but I am already feeling a little stronger! Now, can I keep it up - that is the question!

Then you and I are in the same boat!!! I get sore after bowling too. I don't even need Scott to laugh at me. I think it's pretty hilarious myself. :lmao::lmao: But I HAVE been doing a weight routine on my arms for quite a while now; it's making absolultely no difference (we wounldn't want to offend arm flab too badly now, would we??) but I keep plugging away. MIke is convinced that's how I whacked out my neck. Who knows?!

Speaking of cookies... Mmmmm, Bek made the BEST choco chip EVER last night. I only had 2!!! Holy crumboly, they were so perfect. I almost posted a pic. :cloud9:

Yes!! You can keep it up!! We'll keep each other accountable!! ;)

Just read your blog. :scared1: You seriously need to write a book when you get back!

Wait til I get to the fun stuff in a few days. It was one of the few times, I almost had an accident in my pants.

I totally agree! That book would be a great read!

I've thought about that, actually. Maybe when I'm 95 it'll get published.

Ditto, I agree a book would be great. I always enjoy your blog.

Thanks so much! If it weren't so idiotically hard to get on it, I'd post more often, but each update seriously takes me about 2 hours with typing and posting. Figuring out the German on the blog site is pretty funny!! :lmao:

OK now I'm back and need to figure out how to play your little game.. I know I am way behind but playing is fun. :3dglasses

So what have I messed over the last 2 weeks? :confused3popcorn::

Hey, hey, hey!! Catching up on your rest after your vacation??!! :rotfl2: It's an easy game (now). Read the post on how to play, and if you have any ??? let me know. You're not way behind, actually.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

We had bean burritos- It'll count for something today. ;)

At least I know you would appreciate it !!!!!

Yes, this is exactly Blankistan!!! :rotfl2:

When I began this PTR many, many moons ago- (I don't even remember when that was!) I had no idea whatsoever that my life would be taking such a wild and crazy journey of unknowns, morphing into "we sorta knows".

I also had not the tiniest inkling I'd have such wonderful, amazing people to make this journey of body and soul with me. Don't let this metaphysical blabber weird you out. Just semantics here, mostly.

6 months ago, we were happily rolling along with no thoughts of returning to the US until June, 2011 when Bek graduated. Then we had "THE visit" from our field leaders who were "quite alarmed". "Rolling along" became "Oh, maybe we should think about going back early." to "OK, we REALLY NEED to return early and take care of some things." Seriously, in the period of 2 weeks my whole life was turned upside down, and many of you were there in the thick of it all with me, and continue to be!! How can I ever thank you?!

My trip was on the line, and the threat of it being flushed down the toilet was very real for about 2 months. Most of you know how badly I need this trip- the reasons are far too many to list out and give discourse on, and to say I was in a personal tizzy would be missing the boat entirely. I had let unbelief take a firm grip.

It's been quite a journey these months to watch the Father work out everything up to now- why is it my heart falls into places where I doubt and lack trust?? We've gone from not leaving, to, leaving, to exactly when and where we're going, and there's even now a bonus of a stop in Germany that sits squarely in the category of "gift". The answers were always sure to come, it's sometimes hard to wait, isn't it?

Anyway, sorry for waxing on here a spell, I was feeling rather sentimental today, and wanted to get it on "paper"; and since you are part of this story, I'm making you all the target audience.

Here's CLUE #3 in our little game of ADR COMBAT:

This ADR is for Fri. Sept. 10th, for 3 people.

1) We'll be spending the day in EPCOT.

2) Mostly likely we'll tour counterclockwise in WS.

3) We'll be watching Illuminations in the evening, then catching PM EMH.

It's been a great ride for us as well. Feel free to wax yourself anytime. Wait, that didn't...oh nevermind.

My guess is Colonlel Mustard, with the fanny pack, in the Canada Pavilion. Or was I supposed to wait until the end? I can never remember these things you know.

wax away my friend, wax away!

Thank you. I shall.

Isn't funny what people pick up on. You write this beautiful update--full of your heartfelt emotions and all we pick up is the word wax and play off of that word.....;)

We really do love you Liesa and I consider myself lucky to be a part of your life.

Awww, thanks, Jordan. I know that- HA! If I didn't know that there'd have not been much to write in that last post! ;)

Just wanted to thank you all for sticking with me over the months of all this transition and having so much fun in the midst.

If it weren't for the funny, with a hearty mix of real life stuff swirled in, I'd have been oughtta here a long time ago. :goodvibes

What's the deal? You get all sentimental on your thread, but come over to mine and talk about bean burritos (and the effects thereof). :)

I guess either one can make you tear up. ;)

Liesa, that was a wonderful update!

It made me go back to the old thread in hope to find the back story and I think I found it! :goodvibes I hadn't realized how many difficult issues are involved in your move back to the US, especially your children's education. I really hope you will be able to find solutions which work the best for all in your family!

And forgotto say something about the blog (why is it in German??)... I am really scared how this report will develop! :scared1:

It reminds me of a colleague who got to travel to one of your neighbour Stans. He was there on invitation of their ministry of justice and was treated very well. They even took him to the airport in person on his way back and told him that they would hang around until his airplane left. He found that a bit strange but was rather impressed by their friendliness. He then had to go through passport control and there they looked at his papers and them told him that they needed to search him further. When he was following these policemen, he saw that his government hosts had seen what happened and the leader of the delegation was already rushing off. They started to search his things, but luckily within 5 minutes the boss of these two policemen appeared talked to them very loudly and unfriendly and then they all started to appology many times to my colleague who was then send on his way.

It is stories like that make you realize how important the principles of rule of law and fair trial really are. You don't notice them when they are around but you really notice their lack!

I know! Sorry!

Let me think of something sentimental, and I'll be right over. Hang on.

Glad you went back and found some of the stuff we are dealing with. Definitely a a complicated lot of stuff. I wish there was a one-stop-shop for the kids, but they are all so different- one wants to be an OR nurse, and one is almost 12, but only reads at a 2nd or 3rd grade level. :guilty: What will work for one, is probably not going to work for all.

It will all work out, just waiting for it all to become clear can be so tough.

One thing we have to understand is that the West is based on law and order, the East is more based on relationship and who you have drunk tea with or eaten bread with. If the West understood that more, there'd probably be fewer conflicts. By the same token if the East followed Greco-Roman justice concepts, same would hold true. The road cuts both ways. Or however that saying goes.

Anyway, it's like a clean house. If you visit someone you don't notice if it's clean because that's the way it's supposed to be. But if it's dirty, you sure notice!!!

The blog comes up in German until I log in because I use a proxy system to get there. I really don't know how it works except that it's like a network of host sites, so it goes through (often) a German site to get there. That way no one from here sees my destination. GB can explain it better.

I think trying to understand that a different culture is different on so many levels is really important. It is one of the things we try to teach our exchange students before they go abroad: living with a foreign family they really get to experience the other culture from within and therefore understand it much better than anyone watching it from the outside.

But I might be very western with my approach, some human rights are just too fundametal for me to make any long-term compromise.

I understand - that's what I would need in order to see the US Disney Shopping site. They can locate me as from Germany and I am always transferred to the UK site. :headache: Luckily, Disney Parks does not do that.
