An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Well, that sucked! I was halfway through my post when the power went off. I feel like I"m in Mississippi or something. ;):lmao: Sorry, I couldn't help myself, maroo!

Now, where was I?

Ah yes. I was telling you I had finally uploaded some pictures off the camera to photobucket. Remember the weekend of sewer fun a couple back? Yeah, ok, that leads me to a quick, "you know you've been here too long when" post.

1) You invent, quite cleverly I might add, Use-for-a-Basketball #284.

When Mike was doing the pumping from the outside, but some was coming in up through the potty, so I had the brilliant idea of putting the deflated basketball into there to stop it up. Unfortunately, it worked only mostly. Only a little got on my Croc. I said the appropriate word.

2) Speaking of deli meat (another thread), I found out yesterday that I've been here too long, in that I must have completely forgotten what Pastrami tastes like. All along the stuff we've been buying, that we thought tasted fabulous on rye with some Kim-chee (imagine a Reuben- sort of), is actually horse meat!!!!! I'm gonna miss it when we get back- it's that good!

3) I've been here long enough that I should know better than to assume my power will be on long enough to finish a whole post without it cutting out. :sad2:

4) I've been here too long when I start to think that all trees come decorated with plastic shopping bags waving in the breeze. :lmao:

Anyway, here's another set of clues for you. Ready??

This one is slated for Thursday, Sept. 9th

1) We'll be spending the day at AK (no PHing).

2) In the evening, we are going to Yeehaw Bob's show.

3) We'll want to linger over this meal and enjoy our time, but not too long.

Which is it? Breakfast, lunch or dinner?

As a reminder, your choices are: Plaza, Boma, Kona, Biergarten, Teppan, Jiko, and Garden View Cafe.

Click Here for: I DID IT!!

I'm totally lost. :sad2:

OH don't be lost!! It's pretty easy. Instead of giving a guess each time, the last 7 sets of clues will be given one at a time, and instead of guessing whether we got our times right, you just have to guess which restuarant fits that set of clues at the END of the GAME! By March 31st. Basically you will fill in the TS meals we'll have on the last days. Does that make sense??

So far, you have:

Set #1--

Here's your first set of clues:

Wednesday, Sept. 8th

1. We're moving from the Poly to POR this day.

2. It is a reservation for 3.

3. We won't be using a regular park ticket this day.

4. Tonight is our MNSSHP.

Set #2--

This one is slated for Thursday, Sept. 9th

1) We'll be spending the day at AK (no PHing).

2) In the evening, we are going to Yeehaw Bob's show.

3) We'll want to linger over this meal and enjoy our time, but not too long.

Which is it? Breakfast, lunch or dinner?

Your choices are: Kona, Plaza, Jiko, Teppan, Boma, Biergarten, Garden View at GF.

It will get much, much easier as teh game goes on- work by process of elimination :)

Good luck!

I'm still gonna wait......to guess.....but I have an idea....

Jordan, you seriously should wait until ALL the clues (7) are out, so you can use them all to pick and choose. By now, you might have a good idea by process of elim, but the rest of them will cement it all.

Remember, you should give all 7 meals/places at one time. ;) That'll keep the work down for you all. I think some people were feeling obligated to be here every day, and that wasn't what I intended :goodvibes Although, I must admit, I do miss the constant chatter :)

Ok, now I see a bit clearer! We don't have to guess the correct ADR time for this game! (I always wanted to use that smiley!!) Just which restaurant on which day and for which meal? That should be doable thanks to the clues. I have some ideas already... :thumbsup2

Horse meat is not that common here anymore, but it used to be. At the market in the town where my parents used to live there was a stand that sold horse meat sausages. They were rather nice since they were pretty lean. I guess it really depends on your background which meat is acceptable. I have heard from a number of people with a turkish background that even though they aren't religious muslims they would still not eat pork because they find it disgusting. :confused3

I think I get it. You have to go easy on me as I haven't been to WDW but one day 20 years ago. :sad2: I'll try to stop by and chat even when I'm not guessing.

yes, I think this will be much more doable!! I think the other one was too frustrating for everyone. So, now you get to use a little more logic and deduction. Already, I think you could eliminate several for the first 2.

It's a very, very lean meat! I like it! Especially because they highly salt it to make it last longer. Mmm! :cloud9: It used to be pretty widely available in the US too, but horses became a thing of luxury over beasts of burden.

You're right. I think it has a lot to do with tastes and what you become accustomed to. I grew up with liver and tend to like it, but most don't.

I think I get it. You have to go easy on me as I haven't been to WDW but one day 20 years ago. :sad2: I'll try to stop by and chat even when I'm not guessing.

It might be fun then, to go to each of these 7 restaurants menus or write ups over on Allears.net to get a feel for them. I think that will help a lot. Also, on the first part of this PTR, I did quite a write up on each one. There are links to each one, and that will help A LOT!!!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Yay!!! A chatter willing to come by and hang out!! :yay:

I grew up with liver and tend to like it, but most don't.

I don't like liver either, but my mother loves it. And some restaurants serving traditional German food still have it on the menu. In Munich one local speciality is sour lungs...

I know, I've been bombarding you with all kinds of babbling and off-the-cuff stuff, but I have one more to add to today's lineup.

I DID IT!!!!

I started the C25K running program today, and frankly am about to die. Well, not really, but it was a lot harder than I thought it'd be!!!

Here's what's going on in my head, in case you want to know. Even if you don't, I'm writing it down, because it has everything to do with my trip. You'll see in a bit how.

There are so many reasons I knew I needed to do something. Here are a few:

:sad2: Lately, when I've been looking in the mirror, I've just been increasingly NOT happy with what I'm seeing! It's been a long winter in which my body has become a blob of baggy lard from the complete inaction of bod. I want to look better. Yes, I know I'll never look 20 (or even 30) again, but I know I can look better than this.

:sad2: The grand poohbah says I need to do something because he wants a healthier wife. He's never said I need to be thinner - because, frankly, I probably don't. I'm at my ideal weight, but am really out of shape, and because it shows, and because he cares about me and my health, he wants me to exercise. He is wise.

:sad2: My neck problems may or may not have to do with my lack of being in shape, but it certainly won't hurt, and may even help, if I get my core muscles back to being stronger. It sucks that at this moment in time, I really wouldn't feel good about riding a coaster in good consciousness.

:yay: I may be able to eke a trip to WDW out of being able to run a 1/2. That's my ultimate goal and a very, very long way off; but at least I've made a start.

:thumbsup2 It is just plain old good stewardship to take care of one's health. I've neglected this too long.

So, now you know the why's. I won't wax not-so-eloquent on the "what". If you want a full explanation on the C25K Program you can go to their website or follow Carissa's thread.

I won't tell you here how I'm doing every time I run, which won't even be regularly until the weather is more predictable. Today just happened to be almost 80F!!! It's supposed to freeze tonight, and snow Friday; it's that unstable yet. So, it will likely take me weeks just to get through "week 1".

Let me just say that, although I completed every one of the 5 zillion "runs"- which really was more like a slug in a hurry- it was not what I was expecting. AT. All. For some reason I thought I'd like walk most of the time, and take a couple of easy jogs. Nope. It was like 10 walks and 7 or 8 runs. I didn't count. My lungs were too busy bursting their alveoli. Like little baby Hindenburgs deflating in flames.

Lessons learned:

1) Running is a good occassion to wear deodorant.

2) Drink more before heading out.

3) It's not ok to hold your breath, even while running through the putrid smoke of burning garbage.

4) The C25K music mix I downloaded is pretty much just Techno dance stuff. I need something more inspirational, but still gives me the little ding-ding cues to walk/run.

5) It doesn't matter how many people laugh at you when you jog down the street looking like a bobbing buffalo in a purple sweatshirt. I will live longer.
Maybe. If the running itself doesn't kill me.

So, what does this have to do with my trip?? (This the why part)

I want to be able to enjoy it to the fullest, and be in the best shape possible. If there is even a chance I can ride Space Mountain, I want to try! I don't want to have a backache at 3:00 because I'm weak! And I want my pictures to look good. I didn't say great- I'm not running out to get lipo or botox; but I don't want to get home and cringe at the belly flab either. ;)

I DID IT!!!!

I started the C25K running program today, and frankly am about to die. Well, not really, but it was a lot harder than I thought it'd be!!!

Wow, good for you!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

If anyone would have told me that I would be running regularly at some point I would have laughed at them. But I took it up due to the encouragement of a former boyfriend's mother (a lovely lady who I am still friends with as well as with her son :goodvibes). I did not know anything about a C25K programm then, but just started out with a training plan that only had me running for 10 minutes in the first week and the advise that running does not mean sprinting. I am so much looking forward to being able to run outdoors in the evenings again soon!! And it really helps me stay healthier. I even found out that I eat healthier when I run regularly.

Feel free to post about it as much as you want, it is part of your pre trip routine to get you in shape for WDW! I often read tips about preparing yourself for a WDW trip by taking the whole family on regular walks. I think this is a great idea! We all rely far too much on our cars. When my parents moved from their village to Nuremberg my mother really dod not want to drive in the city and since nearly everything she needs is either close by or can be reached by public transportation she started to walk much more than she used to because all this involved at least walking to the shop or tram stop. It is amazing how much her fitness has improved during the last half year - and that was during winter!

Thanks for being such a huge encouragement to me!! Maybe it sounds like a 2 year old, but I do love the positive reinforcement!!

Right now, I just can't see past the next workout. I do not like exercise. I do not intrinsically want to even be doing this. But I know I need to. (and I've been told to)

I've once heard that there are 2 kinds of people.

Goal- oriented

And

Reward- oriented.

Goal oriented peole are motivated by some (to me) unexplainable thing inside themselves. I am NOT that person.

I am reward oriented. I want that trip to WDW to do a Half. It is not enough to get a nice pat on the back; and I'm not self-disciplined enough to just do it.

So, after our bunch of cold poopy weather coming up, I'll give it another go. But frankly knowing it's not just a couple piddly little runs, but 90 second walks and 60 runs alternatively for 20 something minutes is not so much fun to look forward to. But, now that I know I CAN do it, I suppose I'll have to suck a bunch of air and do it.

Summer is so much kinder to me. I love to be out in the sun, walking to the bazaar, around town, digging in my garden; and we eat way more healthfully too. I think maybe the winter has just gotten me into a body awareness, contemplative mood. It will be good to be "out" again!!! I'll bet your mom will really enjoy doing her walking and public transport thing a lot more too now that things will be warmer. :)

Hey Guys, and Lovely Gals-

I found a fun PTR to read, and wondered if you'd want to follow me over.

My_Pal_Pluto is an excellent writer; the title is Bouncy, Trouncy, Flouncy and something else ouncy, and I thought you'd get a kick out of it.

It's a dad planning a trip for his triplets!!! And he's having a blast!

Enjoy!

Hi Leisa ... just a quick thank you for this affirming nod on your amazing post. I've been pouring over your tales and smiling, laughing, nodding, ... enjoying!! (it all goes perfect with a cup of morning coffee :cloud9:

Oh, your so very welcome! Once in a while I open up a thread I haven't seen yet to take a look-see. I'm on far too many, and can barely keep up, but when I come across one that uses really good writing, is (shall I dare borrow Wittilicious from Cynthia?) wittilicious, and brings us into the writers world, I just gotta share it.

Mine is mostly small talk and chatter, but pretty dang stinkin' funny. None of which is mine; it's all everyone else's funny. The "real" posts are usually pretty short and have links on the first page to help with fast catch up. Now, let me utilize a fancy trick Carissa showed me:

Wait for it..

Wait for it........

:welcome:

There, I didn't even open up all the rest of the smilies to do that. That is so cool...

Settle in, give yourself an extra shot of espresso, and cozy up with your new pals. :thumbsup2

Congrats on starting the c25k program. When I started it a year ago, I was pretty convinced that my lungs were going to explode somewhere along the line. It does get much easier.

You should be able to do a search for different C25K programs for your mp3. I used the Ulrey one for week 1, but I knew I had to find something else. I found one that was to rap/R&B/pop music. Not all the songs in it were always exactly my cup of tea lyric wise, but they had great beats and a few of them I'd find myself singing along with. The right music really makes a difference.

Well, that sucked! I was halfway through my post when the power went off. I feel like I"m in Mississippi or something. ;):lmao: Sorry, I couldn't help myself, maroo!

Hey!!!!

I heard that! :rolleyes1

But, since it is completely true, I can't really defend the statement. :upsidedow

The news last night ran a story that in addition to the water problems we are having in our great capitol city, that they are now trying to find money to "fix" the sewage system.

Hmmm.

Great.

And sounds like a good friend I know that lives halfway around the world.

And as far as your other update.......

Well, lets just say that I saw some recent pictures of ME and am on diet number 779.

From some of the things you tell me about the great state of MS, I sometimes wonder who has the raw deal.

At least you've started doing something!! And something is ALWAYS better than nothing!! :thumbsup2

Okay I have my guesse now lets see if the next clue knocks them out!!

See!!!?? It's really not as hard as it seems! Each one will make it easier and easier!:teacher:

I am so proud of you for starting!!!!!!!!!!

I know you've been thinking about it for a while....wanting to...not quite wanting to go there, thinking you had to wait to come back home to start to get in shape and I am thrilled you are taking action on it.

The beauty of this forum is if you tell us...then you have to do it! I know that helps hold my feet to the fire!

Personally I think the goal of a half at WDW is a fine fine goal! Anything that gets you motivated is good, anything, and that's better than well, almost anything in my book!

Carissa has been very inspirational, as have been Sandy and Maroo and the blessing is everyone then starts helping each other stay motivated!

Not that I run of course. :rotfl:

Though frankly, as I told Jeff, I have been considering it simply because my beloved bike really messes with my eyes these days and I just can't bring myself to buy goggles. I am going to see if there is anything in between that might work at the eye doc today. :sad1:

Don't get any ideas though! I'd be up for the wine and dine (dash) in '11 if it isn't the same weekend as my gourmet club getaway....and they do it again.

I hear you on core strength, it's why I'm forcing myself to do yoga in addition to pilates. My neck is horribly weak and the core could use some work so I'm trying to focus on improving my balance and core and get my neck right as well.

I think so many people get wiped out at the parks as they are going from the couch to a half in one day. Think about how many miles you walk in a day at the parks? If you aren't doing much, that's pretty brutal! And, frankly, if the feet aren't used to walking...they will get blisters regardless of how great the shoes are.

Of course, you may borrow wittilicious anytime you like.

I'm using wahooty a lot myself thanks to GB!

I will borrow wittilicious and wahooty! Both are hootawitty words!

REally?? You might do the dine and dash? Oh wait that's what we used to do in Jr. High at Del Taco! :rotfl2: Seriously! I'd go down to DLR with you to do a wine and dine half.
