American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread** Part 2

Zabasearch results are up. They have been pretty accurate in the past, and they didn't suffer the same problem that Dial Idol did. So, if you don't want to see a potentially accurate spoiler, do not click on the link below.

Idol Results for 5-16

I won't say whether I'm happpy with the results or not, since that would, obviously, be a spoiler in and of itself.

I just bought my AI concert tickets!!!!!!! Found a presale code at the Poptarts ( yeah, I know...:rolleyes2 ) Web site for Louisville, Ky. DH doesn't know about our date night, yet! :rotfl2:

Did you get good seats? I was trying to get 5 for the concert in Worcester, MA and the seats were so bad I'm going to hold out for the public sale. Unless they're behind the stage, they couldn't be any worse. :guilty:

And no offense to all you Taylor lovers, but I just don't see him being as successful as everyone seems to be making him out to be. Maybe it's because I don't like him. And maybe if he wins he'll prove me wrong.

Go ahead, I'm ready to get flamed, but I just don't see the attraction to him... :duck:

Why would anyone flame you for you musical taste? It's like me arguing with you over favorite colors. Taylor has the ability to give some people the chills. We're wired that way and we can't help it.

It's like when I hear people say Elliot has the best voice in the history of the show (somebody said that) and I'm totally baffled. I just do not hear it.

In fact, I have a laundry list of musical artist who I cannot stand and who I think should not have become successful. They include:
Sting
Springsteen
Doors, Who, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin....
And then there's Beyonce, Alicia Keys....
Kelly Clarkson and most female singers put me to sleep

I'm sure there is a reason I'm not a record producer!

That's what I found for the Pittsburgh sale too. The first tickets I got were in the last section of the floor. I'm on the venue's mailing list, so I got another presale code that I'll try tomorrow. Otherwise I'm holding out. I'm not paying that much money to sit in the back.

Call me pessimistic, but I'm a Philadelphia fan. If Taylor does not go right up to the finals and then get second place, I may just have a stroke. Philly peeps....you know exactly what I'm talking about.

That is too funny! I completely hear you! ;) But don't hate me, I'm a Gian'ts fan. At least the Eagles have gotten so much farther in the last 10 years or so!

I was wondering if there would be a different code for tomorrow. On the page that you order the tickets there is one sentence that says:

presale 5/17/06 10:00am to 5/18/06 10:00pm,

then the next sentence says:

presale 5/18/06 10:00am to 5/18/06 10:00pm

it's as if there is going to be another presale with a different code. :confused3

Anyone know about this?

Edited to add:

I did the quiz and I'm Chris Daughtry, funny because I wanted him to win.

aMEN!

I never knock people for their tastes... it's just that, THEIR TASTE. I know what I like and even my sister and I, who are almost identical, have NEVER agreed on most things in life. It's more normal than not and it's what makes the world go round.

As for MY laundry list:

Britney Spears
That cowboy who's married to Faith Hill.. ewwww
Usher
Carrie Underwhelm
Diana DeGarmo
and
Chris Daughtry.... UGH!

I don't mind that others liked them, it's their right to like whatever does it for them. We all grew up with things that make us feel good. The blues and gravelly voices DO something for me, they always have. A country crooner sends the creeps to my stomach while it makes others swoon. The only rock I like is classic rock and when it's done well. I do not appreciate being screamed at by an angry looking person....

That's the purpose of "discussion" boards. We "discuss" what's on our minds and there are no rights or wrongs. There ARE rights and lefts but that's another thread...

I love Taylor...have a been a huge fan since his audition. But am I the only one who thought he struggled a bit with You Are So Beautiful last night? It doesn't really matter, but I'm just curious. The way he was standing he looked like he was bracing himself to keep from jumping up and down and dancing. And he made several facial expressions that to me showed his frustration at not hitting some of the notes. I still loved hearing him sing...but I don't think that was his best vocal at all.

I agree ! I like Taylor, but didn't understand why they were raving about that performance.....

Zabasearch will change their numbers once more. This time last week, they had Elliott going home. Then they changed them around 5:00

Oh, and I am Chris Daughtry in the quiz. I think the Rob Thomas, Billy Joel part did it.

Yeah, but there is about 2,000,000 votes difference right now on that site, which is an awful lot to make up. I'd be surprised if the results changed much at this point.

And I am - no surprise - Taylor Hicks. Not sure Taylor is the most "athletic" guy that has been there, but I think the "Billy Joel" and "Ray Charles" answers probably sealed my fate. :teeth: Not too accurate, though, since - as I said last night when saying I couldn't wait for the new X-Men movie - I'm much more of a geek than a spaz ;)

I'm rewatching last night's show right now, and Kat *really* does not like criticism, does she? It's like she's utterly bewildered that people don't fawn all over her. And I'm so glad Randy FINALLY told her to Just. Sing. The. Melody. I'm *tired* of all the runs--just sing!!
